It's pages long.Capt. Sir Dominic Flandry wrote: Nash, I think you might be needed back at MI6. I had a look at the thread over there about this news and some of the members are in need of a straightjacket.
Could you be a little more specific Capt.Dom ?
And I must say, the views of some posters at Mi6 does not run true for all posters at Mi6.
There are some just as zany ideas their as there are here.
The crazies inhabit all forums, posting as if someone out there craves to read their writings. That they actually know what is going on, and will share it with the rest of the Bond community.
The truth is, no-one is reading any of this...well only a handful of fans that log in on a daily or regular basis.
None of this is actually going to make a blind bit of difference to whether Craig stays or goes, or what direction the Bond films will take, or anything of importance.
It's all just a bit of fun.
Sometimes reality IS important.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
I think that's not necessarily the case. Eon does monitor boards, as does MGM. To the point they even go on crusades trying to make certain boards look like evil Darth Vader, which I'm sure everyone here is well-aware of
I haven't seen any lunatic on here, so if there were any I guess the moderators did a good job getting rid of them (or keeping them under control). That said I haven't read the thread so no idea, but given the comments from you all, I assume the sight ain't pretty
BJ is I am sure doing just fine, except he's probably buried by snow like pretty much everyone else in the NYC/Boston area. He may have a shovel in his hands rather than a mouse and a computer keyboard. Being out in open air is anyway a far healthier exercise than sitting at a computer reading about Bond 23
In fact I am sitting here and I am sick! (I have a temperature)

We've had the occasional nutter. They usually go away once everybody gets bored with trying to reason with them and starts ignoring them. I don't think we ever banned Scashman, for example. My Dell computer went again 2 days ago. I am at the Apple store now typing this post. It will take 1 week to have it delivered so as soon as I get the new computer I will be back on line. I have had it with Dell laptops. The system board went twice and I am throwing it out. Mac here I come. Continue the good work here!

Ohhhh a radical choice. And a great one. I still can't get a Mac myself because of work issues (I need windows) but as soon as I sort them out, I am DEFINITELY switching to Mac too. Easy to get excited about a clearly movie working it was up to mediocre when they are a fan of one man not the franchise. Most of the people who love CR hated the whole damned series save for 1 or 2.

You know what, I never really thought about this seriously, but I always made the point that those who loved CR (or, God forbid, QoS) have at the very least a vision of Bond films that doesn't respond to what Bond films actually are and always have been. I am one of those few who didn't like CR AT ALL. But the problem with that is Sony worked their magic and only FOUR critics worldwide openly said the movie wasn't nearly as good as others were saying. So the Craig fans will always say "critics were ecstatic!". The interesting thing is that those who instead criticized, and the Italian major critic who did that in particular, were big fans of the franchise AND Fleming readers. The Italian guy made no mystery of his deep knowledge of Bond and Fleming. What perplexes me is that there are some of Craig's fans who say he is closer to Fleming's Bond than the others.pm

What you are absolutely right on IMO though is the fact the vast majority of those people are CRAIG fans, NOT Bond fans.
By the way.. has anyone here discussed the whole "Red Sky At Night" working title for Bond 23?

I am with Katie, the Red Sky at Night idea is awful to me. this one at least could be humorous if the film does horribly

Was `Red Sky At Night' a Fleming title/idea? If so, from which novel...?
I personally still like the unused `Risico' as a title. Having said that, it doesn't make a damned bit of difference what the title is - the film just better be a darn sight better than the last one. They used a Fleming title with QoS, and had no reference to that particular story whatsoever. At least Maibaum tried to reference the material he borrowed the titles from, even if it was from a short story like OP or AVTAK.

Risico might get a big "Hunh?" from people who are out of the Bond loop. Property Of A Lady is the least offensive title IMO.

I think you're right. And Sweeney is right that in the end the contents matters, but what can I say. Titles do matter to mekatied wrote:Risico might get a big "Hunh?" from people who are out of the Bond loop. Property Of A Lady is the least offensive title IMO.
I don't know, I want something far more spy like than what I've seen so far. Risico is a good one, but Katie has a point. There were many Alias episode titles that were great, they should go for something like those, or like the "classic" Bond titles. Doesn't take much do to better than the last time around in terms of contents respecting the title
