Jason and The Argonauts from the 1960s is the best of the mythology films, but this Percy Jackson trash had elements of Las Vegas with Elvis and Lady Gag-Gag songs to boot!

Pierce deserves better than this.

Ugh, Jason Statham. Gerard Butler is a very fine-looking man (not that I like him as much as I do Cavill, but he's ok), but he really makes some very random work choices. Yeah, like appearing in really bad movies.

Ew. And ROFL! Lady Gag-Gag, FINALLY the appropriate nickname for that one. No offense if there are any fans here, but I cannot stand her. She's vulgar, tacky, trashy... and her songs are utter cr*p. Sorry, I take music way too seriously to even consider her. I loooove Marvin Gaye... that alone I guess is enough to explain why I could never even consider someone like her in terms of music.

First of all: Gag Gag has a few good songs. But you can't get away from her. She's always in the gossip magazines and websites.

Would you believe people(what drugs are *they on? ) have suggested Statham as a replacement for Craig? WTF. That is all.

LOL it's all good, I am VERY picky when it comes to certain types of music. I can enjoy the occasional dance-trash music to, well, dance in disco but I just hate the character when lady Gag Gag is concerned

WHAT?! Statham as a replacement for Craig? Sure, why don't we go for, I don't know... Ben Stiller? At least he makes me laugh.

In other news, I had forgotten about Matthew Goode. I quite enjoyed him in Match Point. (opposite  LMAO you know who I mean Katie, this is your trademark ) It's too bad he looks as threatening and fit as a basket of kittens. Otherwise he would have had the right style and "allure" to be Bond.

Buzz is the Cowboys and Aliens is shaping up to be a stinker. Bad script and huge problems finishing it. Not Craig's fault but it is another bad choice on his part.

Really? Hm. Interesting. I had heard nothing about it (yet at least). I only watched the trailer and thought it looked HORRID. As in a ridiculous amount of cheese. But other than that I know nothing about it and given Grazer and Howard and Spielberg being splattered all over the screen, I thought it was a guarantee for box office, despite the looks (again, the trailer to me looks about as good as QoS, which means beyond bad ). Except Spielberg has had his problematic releases, that did cr*p at US box office especially (like Munich, oh what a coincidence) despite being hugely advertised. Again I know nothing about Cowboys and Aliens, but the dialogue in the trailer certainly didn't look sizzling, and considering what's in the trailer should at the very least be "catchy", I wondered... Do you know what the finishing problems are about Q? (that's shorter than Mazer Rackham LOL)

I'm really curious at this point. Must dig up some dirt
Let's blame him anyway.
   come on poor Craig! I am a compassionate human being. He's got bad photos to deal with already. No seriously, not his fault of course. But this was too funny not to quote

He is very charming and attractive. Too bad he's so skinny and looks like he couldn't kick anyone's ass or I really would have considered him for Bond. He just doesn't look like a spy at all unfortunately. I haven't seen Brideshead Revisited. I take it from your comment that I shouldn't, Katie?

Some things are better left alone. Like Cowboys. They are supposed to fight against native Americans, not against freaking aliens. I find the concept behind the movie absolutely ridiculous. Taken from a comic, no less. Hollywood really is out of ideas these days.

Good bet to have FBF. I'd say certainly the safest of the year.
Was looking on imdb earlier and found some interesting tidbits on the HP franchise. Some of which shocked me, and some which really made me wonder what some of these people were thinking.
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone:

Richard Harris only agreed to taking the part of Albus Dumbledore after his eleven year old granddaughter threatened never to speak to him again. Patrick McGoohan was originally offered the role but had turned it down due to health reasons.

Tim Roth was a leading contender for the role of Professor Severus Snape. Roth dropped out of contention, however, to pursue his role as General Thade in Tim Burton's adaptation of Planet of the Apes (2001).

Gabriel Thomson was considered for the role of Harry.

Steven Spielberg reportedly wanted Haley Joel Osment for the part of Harry. (Sorry US born members, but this is a classic case of BS. Spielberg has gone down in my opinion if this is true. Worse casting I cannot think of. Outside the obvious. )

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets :

Daniel Radcliffe has said that "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" is his favorite book.

Hugh Grant was originally cast as Gilderoy Lockhart but was forced to withdraw at the last moment because of scheduling conflicts.

To get a sense of how nasty his character should be, Jason Isaacs had to go back and watch Tom Felton's performance in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (2001).

The "Let's just hope Mr. Potter will always be around to save the day" dialogue (see quotes) was improvised by Daniel Radcliffe and Jason Isaacs.

And we'll leave it there.
I love the Harry Potter films. Not only are they probably the most entertaining and well cast films of recent memory. But they are always re-watchable, and something all the family can enjoy. (The newer films are a little darker, so the wife and I have to watch them first before we allow the kids to see them) But they really are great, great movies. The casting is just superb. A joy to watch, and I look forward to July.

FWIW, I'm not a fan of Spielberg's. I think he's overrated. And I've run into people on other boards that were like "You don't like Spielberg?Heretic!!!". Pretty much. :?

I prefer his older films to be honest.
Duel, Jaws (one of the best films ever made btw) and the first three Indy's are some of his best. Along with SPR and Schindlers of course. Also got a very soft spot for Catch Me If You Can. But I think that's down to Hanks, DiCaprio and Walken more than anything.

I think people don't like the idea of hating on him because he did Schindler's List. Which is ridiculous. :?

Not saying he hasn't had an impact. I just don't think he's the best thing since sliced bread.

I prefer his old movies to his current ones. And I agree he's overrated NOW. Back then, he had ideas nobody had and that can't be taken away from him. But right now, I just think he's done what he should have done, and he's getting stale. Schindler's List is one of two movies total that made me walk to walk out of the cinema at halftime. And in this case not because it was bad, but because I can't deal with that type of movie. I am European, my grandfather died because of the fascists, I've heard tales from my father about how they took people before his own eyes to send them to death in concentration camps. It hits WAY too close to home, and I can't go through that stuff because I can't think "it's just a movie". It's not, it's history. People really died. Probably one of the reasons why I like Bond movies so much. It's escapism. It's good fun and it makes me see the hero triumph. Escapism alone won't do it though. It needs to be a good movie with the ingredients I like. And that sure as hell includes James Bond  When it's pretentious, unbelievably ridiculous new-age type escapism then it produces the ONLY movie I wanted to quit halftime through at the cinema: THE BEACH. My disrespect for Di Caprio after sitting through that load of cr*p didn't recover until very recently. Because in the past few years he's proven he CAN act and do actually good movies. I hated him as a teenager when everyone was adoring him, and kept on hating him since. I still don't like him, but at least now I DO give him that he's a good actor.

And yeah, I HATE HATE HATE Titanic, too. Possibly the most overrated movie EVER. To think that BS movie has gotten all those awards makes me want to throw up. With all the actually good movies there are and have been out there, they awarded one of the most ridiculous, badly acted and one of the cheesiest movies ever. And let it be clear I know this from clips and tales, I always refused to go see it. There again, it just so happened I had just seen a documentary on the ACTUAL Titanic in Boston at the museum of science where for some reason they had cups, dishes and various stuff from the Titanic. And they projected a documentary (in a room sort of like a submarine with images all around, it was like being underwater, very cool) about it. The sense of DEATH I got from that always prevented me from considering ANY fictional thing made about it. Especially a romantic movie that included Kate Winslet and Di Caprio. I don't think they could have picked a couple of actors I hated more at the time.

That said, to say one can't hate on Spielberg because he's done Schindler's List (or because he's Jewish) is utterly ridiculous. He's just a director. He isn't one of the people who died. He's just someone telling a story and like anyone else he's subject to "I like you " or "you suck". People need to get over it.

And, I am THANKFUL we never got Spielberg to direct a Bond movie or, God forbid, write one. No thanks.
