Post by Kristatos »

It's illustrated with a photo of Sir David Cregg, linked to from Yahoo's home page, and we get a mention!

Daniel Craig - James Bond
The knives were certainly out for Daniel Craig upon the announcement that he would replace Pierce Brosnan as James Bond. Clive Owen, Hugh Jackman and Sam Worthington were all mooted for the role, but the man who eventually ousted the popular Brosnan was seen as a poor choice by the series’ fans.

Overlooking his fine performances in a number of films, including ‘Road to Perdition’ and ‘Layer Cake’ (which saw him play a character that had Bond-esque charm), they instead wailed their disgust at a blonde man playing the suave superspy – spawning the website danielcraigisnotbond.com that is still running today.

He got back at his detractors with the success of ‘Casino Royale’, and went on to don the famed tuxedo in 'Quantum of Solace', but it remains to be seen if Craig will come back for a third attempt after the uncertainty surrounding MGM studios.
That is still running today.

Did Sweeney write this?

Dunno, but it looks like one of the comments is from Frosty.

Not all Bond fans felt this way. Some of us decided we'd give Daniel a chance to prove himself. After CR had been made, not before filming had begun.

I don't think this is a compliment chaps.

Indeed he did. Proving that he could play James Bond, and do it well. I'm sure the special features on the CR dvd where they speak of the sites like this one, and how it felt good when CR proved to be a success, and basically beat all the naysayers must really annoy some of the good folks here. The boycott failed, the follow up attempt by the naysayers was ignored by all but a few, the split Bond fan revolt continues, but the rest of the world have moved on. Don't let that stop you though. I need something to amuse me.

He still hasn't played a character with Bond-esque anything. He is Barbara Broccoli's Midlife crisis that's all.Bond in name only for people who never liked Bond anyway.Craig's main supporters only likes 2 moves out of 22.1 of the 2 not being QOS!Watch any Bond movie pre Craig and have it come down like a ton of bricks what a crock of over pretentious s**t CR and QOS are!

This.

Also, him being her boy toy means it is going to be a lot harder for her to ditch him when it's time for Craig to go.

The fact is that this website is mentioned whereas the others are not. We are relevant my friends, not to Broccoli, but to mainstream thought.

As I told BJ in a PM, some of the biggest Bond websites are obviously closely connected to EON-and why wouldn't they be?.

The problem with that, and this has been discussed here before, and shouted down and denied, is that EON has people on their payroll at these website/messageboards. The problem with that is that they are paid to quell any sort of dissent against Craig/anything negative about EON. It's censorship. "Not a democracy", indeed. :cuss:

I was a Bond fan when you were still wearing nappies my friend. So to say fans of Craig only like the Craig movies and dismiss the rest of the series is utter b*ll*cks.
Unlike some, I appreciate all the films of the Bond series. Even CR'67 and NSNA. DAD has even grown on me, though it still hangs around the bottom of my lists.
What some of the folks here seem not to understand, is that many fans like all the Bond films. They like Craig as Bond, the members of this site don't, but to call any fan of Craig not a true Bond fan is fighting talk where I come from. Take your head out your a$$ oscar and quit painting all Bond fans with the same brush. :cuss:

No offense, but it's true. There is at LEAST one person on the Commander Bond messageboard/website on EON's payroll, and more than a few on the payroll at The Place That Can't Be Named(it'll always be that for me.Get over it. )

MP, don't waste your time even trying to explain what the mainstream posters already know. We know Eon has no website, just underlings who scour the forums to try to prove to the world that the Egg-ster is Bond. He's Broccoli's fancy, and she just does not care about the franchise in the same manner as her pappy Cubby. She was handed it, she did not earn it, and she has emasculated Bond with too much PC. I want her out to start the rebirth of the franchise post Ms. B.

It would be better to have a long gap before the rebirth of the franchise. If Bond is to be needed on-screen, you might as well bring in the unofficials Bond on-screen.

Having the "rumor" that The Place That Can't Be Named is in the pockets of EON denied annoys me. I can't help that. They're so f-ing shady that I feel it's necessary to expose them for the frauds that they are.

A lot of regular posters here fall into that category. And I'm not just talking about the pro-Craigers.

Then why are any fans of Craig labelled as non-Bond fans by many anti-Craig fans?
Connery, Lazenby, Moore, Dalton, Brosnan and Craig, all great in the role of Bond. Even though this site is anti Craig, it should not be anti Bond fan.

Not true of all anti- Craigs. :? Repeating myself, I know, but I do not think it is necessary to like *every* aspect of the Bond films to be a "true" fan. You start putting "this, this and this" as requirements, then you're just splitting hairs.

I think a number of fans on forums like MI6 went overboard to prop Craig up and started trashing previous films and actors. You don't fall into this category (as you seem to like all the Bonds) but there was/is an element of this.

Indeed. There was a time on AFJB when pretty much the only non-Craig Bond films you were allowed to like were Connery's first two.
