Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
It appears Eon has gone into hibernation and Daniel Craig is not out there in the media much at all.
Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
If QOS were the last Bond film(for a while or..forever
), it's not a very good way to remember the Bond franchise.
There seems to be a lot of hoping and wishing that things get sorted out soon(ish). IMO those are wasted prayers.

Bond won't end, no 'bout a doubt it'. Keeping Cr-egg now would all be on Ms. B, no one else. Her fascination with him is sickening already.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
At the very least,I think there will be a long wait 'till the next Bond film. Hoping for 2012 is being very very very optimistic.

If Bond ends, then someone else will bring him back in a different form at a different setting just Nolan and Abram did to Batman and Trek, respectively.bjmdds wrote:Bond won't end, no 'bout a doubt it'.

Not that I think they could get Nolan, Abrams, et al but sometimes I think that would be the best thing for the Bond franchise. Maybe give it to an up and coming director who isn't *too* full of themself.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
They MUST have an already established NON-political, non-liberal minded director with action films on his resume.

^The problem being that there's not a lot of people like that in Hollywood. And I doubt they would be willing to be open about their opinions, since they would catch a lot of flack for it.

Or at the very least, someone who doesn't consider themselves to be slumming it by directing a Bond movie. Yes, Forster, I'm looking at you.bjmdds wrote:The MUST have an already established NON-political, non-liberal minded director with action films on his resume.

Not likely. I don't think the anti-American stuff in QOS(though I didn't tune into it) came from Babs. Obviously. It was veiled but people here have picked up on it.It doesn't matter how liberal-minded or conservative-minded they are provided they can stay off their bloody soapbox.

Of the videos The Incredibles is the best. Proves Craig is a better voice actor. How corny those serious monotone lines sound now, along with the instrumental music one trailer sounded OTT like a Phantom Menace score complete with singers.shaken not stirred wrote:Nice finds manHarvey Wallbanger wrote:It's laughable how serious the Craig advertising takes themselves -once the pattern emerges

Well quite, but do you know what John Glen's politics were, or Lewis Gilbert's, or Guy Hamilton's? For all I know, they might all have been card-carrying members of the Socialist Workers' Party, but if they were, they kept it out of the Bond films.katied wrote:Not likely. I'd prefer that the director's personal poitical leanings be left out of it. Hollywood is a lot more conservative than most people realize. The differemce being that most of them, save for a few, keep their mouths shut. The people who are open about it(like Kelsey Grammer)don't seem to get as much work.Well, that and the projects they pick are terrible. But they're not getting the primo jobs anymore(and yes, I know he's on The Simpsons from time to time but that's not a full time thing. Sideshow Bob is on what, once a season. if that? )

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Bruce Willis, Tom Selleck, Charlton Heston, The Duke are some of the better known right wingers but they never let it interfere with their work and didn't bring it to the screen. Not in a preachy manner. They took roles some thought they wouldn't take and were incapable of doing becuase of their political bias. It is just a job nobody should think so much of themselves to not be able to do a job becuase they disagree with it personally.
Name a Hollywood liberal, don't bother they'll name themselves. Hollywood is a lot more conservative but they don't feel need to make a show out of it. Usually. Some of the best scripts and biggest money makers usually don't have overt political messages. Prince of Persia made this mistake trying to be anti-Bush chanting this war is wrong two years after Bush left office and in the summer the Iraq war is considered to be won. Keep politics out of the movies! Best policy I can think of.
Of course movies about political subjects are another matter.

Well, except The Duke. The Green Berets, anyone? And of course Kelsey Grammer appeared in An American Carol, which I haven't seen, but which I've heard is a veritable preachfest. Like I say, believe what you like, but stay off your soapbox, at least in a supposedly escapist piece of entertainment like a Bond film. As you say, overtly political films are a different matter, though even here, the best of them avoid preachiness. To take two examples of left-wing political filmmakers, give me Michael Moore over Oliver Stone any day. Moore at least includes enough humour in his films that they feel less like being hit over the head than Stone's self-important Serious Dramas.JackWade CIA wrote:Bruce Willis, Tom Selleck, Charlton Heston, The Duke are some of the better known right wingers but they never let it interfere with their work and didn't bring it to the screen.
