I've only seen the first season, which I liked. I understand they're up to season 4 now. At what point would you say it jumped the shark? Or did you never like it to begin with?

The first season is the best one. I get to catch new episodes when they have free HBO, and I agree with BLMDDS...it's jumped the shark.

The most recent episode now deals with discrimination undertones in society and gore, gore, gore, and I don't mean Al. I am tired of seeing everyone walk around with bloody mouths all the time. This vampire stuff in Hollywood is boring now beyond belief.

Plus, they've deviated from the books quite a bit. I can thing of several thingsFranklin Mott is meant to be much older in the books-he's described as being gray haired. Also, TV Franklin is,from what I heard (maybe) going to marry Tara

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – Daniel Craig will star in the English-language remake of "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo," plus the two potential follow-ups based on author Stieg Larsson's best-selling trilogy.

David Fincher is on board to direct the adaptation, which Steve Zaillian is writing and Scott Rudin is producing for film studio Sony Pictures.

With development and production on the next James Bond film recently halted in the midst of MGM's endless financial restructuring, Craig needed a new job. The Larsson trilogy provides him with another franchise to nurture.

Music Box Films is in the process of releasing the original Swedish-language film adaptations in the United States. "Tattoo" has grossed $9.6 million in the U.S. and $92 million internationally.

The second film, "The Girl Who Played With Fire," has grossed $2.9 million in the U.S. since its release earlier this month. It grossed $51 million internationally.

A third movie, "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest," is scheduled to be released later this year.

Mikey says "I wish we were launching a movie,"
Craig says "I just want to get going on it as quickly as possible"

As time goes by I feel more an pity for Mikey why does he get all the grunt work, Babs goes off to party while he has to go to work shoveling the s**t she doesn't want to touch.

Look none of their comments are very reassuring. In fact it is coming out now they are "panicked". Craig's comment sounds more a warning than a man eager to return to the fold. I heard he almost didn't land Tattoo because of Bond. It is a likely 3 picture deal if it succeeds and they didn't want to commit to Craig to be thrown under the bus.

For fun check Dalton's and Brozza's comments when they were down then eventually screwed over by EON. Both were very positive and upbeat. Although Dalton was doing some world class acting, he had to know after LTK he wasn't coming back, nobody was going to pay for the next movie if it involved him. Brozza literally saved the Bond franchise, he was an actor they backer were willing to support and he had an excitement surrounding him taking over the role. Never forget LTK didn't make money for over 7 years, GE and Brozza reinvigorated the franchise such as to drive interest in the all of the series.

The stuff I told you about is coming out in the wash, I personally think Babs has screwed up making new enemies among the studio elite she should have made nice with. She want to throw her weight around, like people say they are hard to work with, they think only they know best, she forgot she is only half owner of the franchise.
James Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson are reportedly "panicked" about the future of their spy series.

The 23rd 007 outing has been put on hold indefinitely due to the financial uncertainty surrounding MGM, the studio that owns the rights to the Bond franchise and is up for sale with £4 billion worth of debt.

An MGM insider told The Hollywood Reporter: "They're completely panicked that if they go five, six years without a Bond movie, it'll be over. They don't want to kill the golden goose."

Broccoli allegedly wants Sony or Time Warner to buy MGM, but is concerned about a potential Lionsgate takeover because the studio's entire 12-month production budget is less than the cost of a Bond movie.

Star Daniel Craig has insisted that he will return to play Bond a third time when the studio's financial woes have been resolved, with the MGM source adding that executives admired Broccoli and Wilson for making the "bold strokes" move of casting him.

"Barbara said, 'I really like this guy, Daniel Craig'," the source commented. "We were horrified. We liked Eric Bana, Hugh Jackman. To her credit, she thought Craig was a great actor, had this magnetism. We wanted to do one more with Pierce Brosnan... [the producers] are generally cautious, but they are capable of doing bold strokes."

Former Bond screenwriter Bruce Feirstein, who penned the latest 007 video game Blood Stone, said that he is certain the character will be back for more movies.

"I'm not worried about 007," he said. "There's a line at the end of every movie which we used in the video game: It's that James Bond will return... It's been true for 50 years. A hiccup like what's going on at MGM is not going to change that."

Hopefully Fincher won't change too much. I've read all 3 of Stieg Larsson's books and have seen 2 of the movies(in Swedish) and they are very faithful to the books. Hopefully it won't be like The Golden Compass where the changes(even thought they are slight) are noticeable.

How do the Swedish films compare to the books? I do not understand why Hollywood would remake them so soon.

The movies are VERY faithful, with only a few exceptions, to the books. The changes I can think of for The Girl Who Played With Fire are that Lisbeth doesn't have a twin in the films-unless that's something that they are saving for the last movie- and the character Hans Festedoes not have the loathing of Lisbeth that he does in the books.

Can't recommend the Millennium Trilogy enough. Considering we are reading a translation I assume the Swedish is slightly better. Why can't people translating books be the ones writing assembly instructions?

Plenty of new speculation Craig is finished as Bond because of the Dragon Tattoo trilogy and possible Cowboys and Aliens sequel.

They need a restart after a 4-6 year break anyhow. Call Sam Worthington he is a young actor and can keep up with the movies for years.

Luckily, Fassbender will probably be too popular by the time they're casting the next Bond which really should be any day now!

In QOS, what was the point in Cr-egg's Bond flying the plane straight up and yelling at it to climb? Does anyone know why he did that instead of trying to land or just parachute out earlier? Forster directed a bomb-amundo here. No more eclectic directors for Bond. Also, the ending scene in Russia was quite similar to the Bourne ending in Russia. More mimicry.

Agreed about the eclectic directors. Less arty-farty. It wouldn't do the Bond franchise any favors.

So he could put a tacked on action scene in there and let the water storyline into the script.
Come on bj, I thought you were smarter than that.

I've always wondered if that scene(and a few others) made anyone else a little motion sick? It didn't me, but I could see someone watching the chase scene in Siena and feeling a little green around the gills?
