Dalton and Brosnan had a good mix I don't think of them as AP material not like Moore was.

The Moore films, remade, would be much more Austin Powers like than anything Brosnan or Dalton did. One more reason NOT to remake them.

Frogwash! I am CERTAIN even Ian Fleming would have been APPALLED to read such a dismissive comment. I am disgusted!

Dalton and Brosnan were good actors but made TERRIBLE Bonds. The Dalton/Brosnan era was the worst in the franchise.

Ian Fleming would be spinning in his grave at the idea of campy remakes of the Bond films with a way-too-old Bond in the role. That's what I think.

I just looked at your favourites list, and see you are a Brosnan fan. Well, no offence, but Brosnan really shines as a villian ONLY. Ever see Butterfly on a Wheel where he takes a villainous turn? You should, because he was outstanding in that film. However, as a Bond, he just didn't cut it. The special effects and the sloppy production didn't help either mind.

But why do you think Sir Rog was campy? He had the right balance of jest and seriousness. In Octopussy and FYEO he was especially good. Oscar deserving for sure.

Pierce was fine in the role.So was Timothy Dalton. I don't buy into the excluding the other Bonds. :?

Yes.....I'm a fan of Brosnan's Bonds.....and Dalton's as well.

I do plan on renting Butterfly on a Wheel (Shattered in the US) sometime. And you know this isn't the first time Pierce has played a villain.

The thing is though: Bond should have been filmed from start to finish within a 15-20 year time period. And, ideally, with just one actor. I propose Eon start the franchise from scratch (excluding Moore's films) and re-do everything from Dr No to Bond23 starting this year. Hopefully, before Sir Rog turns 100, all of the Bond films will have been completed and REAL fans can actually enjoy the franchise as it was meant to be enjoyed: and that's properly!

Rog is not going to make it to 100 even if he decided to remake a bunch of Bond films. Him playing Bond again would just be adding insult to injury. :?

He was definitely worthy of that Oscar in 1979 Scashster. Dustin Hoffman stole his trophy with Kramer vs. Kramer. He deserved a Tony award too even though he never played on Broadway.

I'm assuming you read my most excellent critique of the Oscars over at the mi6forums, and so you must surely agree that yes, Sir Rog definately deserved Best Actor for that year (And all other years he appeared in Bond films too).

Btw, how can you list in your favourites the Godfather Part 1 and NOT reference 2?? That's like only enjoying HALF a film lol.

Moore even outdid Henry Fonda in 1981 for On Golden Pond yet the academy did not give Moore his due for that excellent heart felt Bond interpretation in FYEO. Back to reality now: No Clemenza and no Sonny made GF II a bit dull for me, but I watch it all the time. It is rare to find a complete version on television where De niro names Hyman Roth as young men in the Genco store.

I agree BJ that GF1 is better, mainly because of Sonny and Brando.

GF2's best moments are easily the scenes set in the past in Italy, with a young De Niro doing his best Brando impression. Every time the film skips back to the present timeline, the film becomes dull again.

Agree 100%. The present tense GF II bored me. I enjoyed De Niro's chapter in the storyline.
