Why are threads moderated here?
Why are the threads moderated here?
I thought this was a place for free and open discussion! It feels more like Stalin's dungeons!
Note: if you want your forum to be a sucess and to flourish, then loosen up, quit your totalitarian attitude and encourage free exchanges. Anything less is pitiful and will only continue to drive potential members away. No wonder this place is virtually empty!

We don't moderate all posts, just ones by new members, to discourage spammers and trolls. if you think that removing all restrictions on posting leads to livelier discussions, I encourage you to check out the wasteland that is alt.fan.james-bond on Usenet. It's a great place to go if you're looking for cheap V1agra. If you're looking for discussion on James Bond, then not so much.

Re: Why are threads moderated here?
The Craig not Bond campaign had many enemies in the past so the site always attracts a few enemies. Although the forum does not have that many problems now as everyone agrees that Daniel Craig is an awful Bond.
Welcome to the forum.

I would say it is a success and is not "virtually empty".if you want your forum to be a sucess and to flourish, then loosen up, quit your totalitarian attitude and encourage free exchanges. I agree spammers are annoyances, but surely it is better to simply delete posts like ''buy viagra'' etc if/when they occur.Kristatos wrote:We don't moderate all posts, just ones by new members, to discourage spammers and trolls. if you think that removing all restrictions on posting leads to livelier discussions, I encourage you to check out the wasteland that is alt.fan.james-bond on Usenet. As for ''trolls''. I beg to differ. I myself have been called a troll for simply standing by my convictions, no matter how unpopular, and I strongly believe anyone can be labelled ''troll'' for failing to comply with popular public opinion.
That aside, I am glad you allowed this post as it shows you're at least prepared to defend your own stance on this matter.
BUT, where is my post I made that argued the case for Sir Rog to be re-instated as Bond?? That topic is no where to be found here and I am requesting it be posted! Thank you.

Um, it's two topics below this one, on the same sub-forumTheScashMan wrote: BUT, where is my post I made that argued the case for Sir Rog to be re-instated as Bond?? That topic is no where to be found here and I am requesting it be posted! Thank you.

Warning everyone. This Scashy guy is nothing more than a troll, and a wind-up merchant. He started off with the very same joke threads on MI6, and was tolerated for quite a while until he was finally booted out.
Expect more pointless, wind-up threads from this troller to begin.....

Waffle. Every word of it. I was banned because they didn't want to hear that Daniel Craig is NOT a true Bond. In fact, they didn't want to hear that the ONLY real Bond was Sir Rog, who provided more talent than all the others combined! The Sweeney wrote:Warning everyone. Re: Why are threads moderated here?
I think we figured that out from his first post, though I'm open to the possibility that he's serious and really doesn't see anything wrong with the idea of an octogenarian Bond. I've been on the Internet enough to know that people will believe all sorts of crazy stuff: that the Earth is only 6000 years old, that Dick Cheney blew up the Twin Towers as an insurance scam, that Barack Obama was born in Kenya and his birth certificate is a forgery, that the moon landings never happened. Never underestimate the capacity of the human mind to believe absurdities. The Sweeney wrote:Warning everyone. This Scashy guy is nothing more than a troll, and a wind-up merchant.

We don't have a standards where people have to agree with us to belong. I don't agree with Sweeny about Craig but I count him as a friend and he has one of our highest honors. I hope that Mr Scashy isn't just trying to wind people up but welcome all the same.

Same here. And Nash too!

We might not all always see eye to eye but I have to say- we've been very civil with each other lately, which can only be a good thing!

Re: Why are threads moderated here?
I'm not a troll. That is the term generally given by conformists who don't like their beliefs questioned. Just because I believe Sir Rog should STILL be Bond, it doesn't make it trollish. I think you can see this, so I do hope you won't listen to the likes of Sweeney (whom I have never encountered before I joined here) who seems very anti-Scashman!Kristatos wrote:I think we figured that out from his first post, though I'm open to the possibility that he's serious and really doesn't see anything wrong with the idea of an octogenarian Bond. Re: Why are threads moderated here?
That was a loooong journey. Stranded in Vegas, so the wife and I decided to hire a convertible Mustang, drove to San Fransico (which is the coolest city in the world, I kept thinking of McQueen and Bullitt the whole time), spent a couple of days with relatives she hadn't seen for 20 years (so many Persians over that part of the world...)katied wrote:BTW, I'm guessing you're back home now?

Then drove down on Highway 1 to LA...wow! What a road that is!! Stopped off at Clint Eastwood's pub in Carmel....then stopped at Chuck's cafe in Duel (now a French restaurant, but still looks like it did in 1971)....then back to Vegas for 2 days, then back to the UK....then I got back to India yesterday!!
I feel exhausted just writing that....
Re: Why are threads moderated here?
Ah,that is awesome. San Francisco is great, if not touristy in places(Fisherman's Wharf comes right to mind but it's a must-see even so.) I haven't been to San Francisco for 20 plus years..we have friends in the Bay Area so we will probably go up there to visit them and see San Francisco one of these days. Also, I want to conquer one of my fears:I am scared of the Bay Bridge(which goes from San Francisco to Oakland and collapsed during the 1989 quake. Ever since that happened I have been afraid of riding in a car going over the bridge(I can't believe I just admitted that!
)

And because your second post likened this place to Stalin's dungeon. A little netiquette tip for you: insulting the mods is generally not the best way to prove that you're not a troll.TheScashMan wrote: I'm not a troll.
