Roger Moore Should STILL Be Bond

Post by TheScashMan »

After suggesting that Roger Moore still be Bond, I have found many so-called ''fans'' very resentful of the idea, mostly on substandard forums that don't really understand how the Bond franchise has greatly diminished since 1985.

My proposal is that Eon should re-instate Sir Rog and re-make EVERY Bond film since 1985 and they should be offerring him a golden-handscuff deal to make these movies once a year so that fans don't have to wait ages just to see yet another idiotic, special-effects driven load of rubbish delivered by sub standard actors.

Moore may be 83, but he has always looked young for his age and could pull it off still! He was older than Connery was when Connery retired, and still looked no older than 30!

Three facts about Moore's Bond:

1) He had the most charisma
2) He had the best villians EVER. Nic Nac, Jaws and Scaramanga totally defeat the likes of Blofeld (any interpretation, even Telly's), Red Grant and Largo.
3) Sir Rog still has the capability to make women swoon, as proof see this advert: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_o4IDZtj5WA

Yes, there can be no doubt: Roger Moore should still be Bond and it is disgraceful he ever left the role. Real fans should petition Eon to hire him once more so we can enjoy Bond films again. Any assertions to the contrary are frogwash as far as I am concerned.

A Golden-Handcuff deal! You've gotto be joking mate! Make it a Golden-Coffin deal and you might get Sir Rogers attention long enough for him to raise an eyebrow at the offer.

Of the Bonds Eon hired Connery and Moore had their full run quitting only after they had enough. The actors who might have done something more are: Lazenby, Dalton & Brozza. Better throw Danny boy in the mix for good measure. Lazenby & Dalton famously quit however there have always been nagging studios wanted them gone rumors. Sir Roger is an accomplished man and the very definition of a gentleman but he was long in the tooth before his last Bond, more so than Dalton or Brozza. I can see where with old Danny boy withering before our very eyes Moore might be viewed in a more favorable light.

Barbara Broccoli is planning to keep Daniel Craig as Bond until he is in his 80's.

Your contrubution to this thread has been, thus far, appalling. You should be ashamed of your pitiful comment, I know the rest of the board is!

Who's the woman? I want to know because, um, I think it would shed some light on this debate. Yes, that's it.

I haven't watched A View yet but I like the movies from Dalton through Brosnan. I don't think Bond would have survived to 1989 with Roger Moore. Not that I hate Roger Moore I admit to only seeing some of his movies mostly in parts when they were on Spike.

You don't have to "hate Roger Moore" to disagree with Scashy. He was the right Bond for his time, but firstly, he's now in his 80s and secondly, public taste has changed. A campy 70s-style Bond film probably wouldn't be successful now, even with a different actor playing Bond.

Yeah, we need an Austin Powers-style Bond like we need a hole in our heads.
