Judi Dench penning autobiography
2010-03-10 19:20:00

Veteran Hollywood actress Dame Judi Dench is all set to tell her life story as she's penning an autobiography.

The actress, who plays James Bond boss M in the super spy series, has teamed up with publisher Weidenfeld & Nicolson to write the memoir that is titled 'And Furthermore', reports imdb.com.

The memoir will document her lengthy career, as well as her 30-year marriage to actor Michael Williams, who died in 2001 after losing his battle with lung cancer.

The book is expected to hit shelves in October this year

I know what chapter 1 will be. "Babara I quit!" Maybe that would be better as the dedication, to her biggest fan

I don't think she is unhappy making Bond movies or else I think she would have left when Pierce did.

Dame Dench has been talking about leaving for awhile. Last time it went public was when Quark hit theaters. Babs has said she will not allow Dench to leave.

I had no idea she was talking about leaving. I kind of wish she had when Pierce left. It just didn't make sense to keep her on as M for a reboot.

Explains a lot. Is it safe to assume she has a similar set up for Craig? :P

I wish they had brought a male M in for CR. At least it would have avoided confusing Matt Damon as badly as it has. He seems to think he can reboot Bourne with another actor (probably with Craig) because it is like Bond. Sure it is

I wish they'd brought in another actor. If it had been another woman, that wouldn't have bothered me too much. The gender of M is less important to me than the recasting of the role. One side effect of their failure to do this is that we have one devotee of Lee Tamahori's long discredited "Bond code name theory" over on afjb (an arrogant and slightly "challenged" poster who mainly goes by the moniker WQ, though he has various sock puppets) arguing that CR couldn't have been a reboot, because if it had been, M would have been a different person, and therefore this proves that Bond is a code name

NEXT JAMES BOND FILM TO BE LAST FOR JUDI DENCH
DAILY STAR SUNDAY

By Daily Star Reporter

Your Shout ( 0 )

James Bond fans will be shaken and stirred by news that the next 007 movie is set to be Dame Judi Dench’s last.

Dame Judi, 75, has starred as superspy Bond’s boss M in the last six outings of the thriller series.

But now in-the-know movie gossips say her run will stop at seven once the next Bond flick hits screens.

She won over the critics when she first appeared as Bond’s long-suffering boss in GoldenEye – Pierce Brosnan’s first role as the licensed-to-kill agent.

Rumours about the 23rd Bond film hit the internet last week after it was claimed Rachel Weisz was considering a role as an arch-villain.

Josh Mason, a “long-time friend and fan” of Rachel, then posted plot details of the movie, including the Dame Judi shocker.

He said the film’s working title was The Property Of A Lady, based on a short story by Ian Fleming.

Meanwhile, filming is stalled while cash-strapped distributors MGM debate putting the Bond franchise up for sale.

Absolutely. Partly why I didn't make a new thread for this juicy bit of gossip and try to avoid doing so for the other so called ' breaking news' from the Sun and their ilk. Frustrating that 98.9% of the Bond news is pure fluff generated by people with far too much time on their hands.

I just read on afjb that "Spynovelfan" is at it again. This latest casting rumour involves some Australian actor who I've never heard of. Somebody accused SNF of ruining CommanderBond.net's reputation and I posted back saying that they ruined their own reputation when they published the rumours as facts without bothering to verify them first. The reaction ought to be...interesting!

Why doesn't that surprise me? :cuss: I post at Commander Bond sometimes, and the fact that Spynovelfan has been allowed to keep up his "experiment" and the fact that he has a few(operative word being "few") people egging him on makes me look at Commander Bond differently.

Topic?I will definitely read Dame Judi's book when it comes out! 8)

Well, I think SNF has provided a valuable service by exposing the tabloids' willingness to print unverified rumours. At the same time, he's made his point and needs to give it a rest now, IMO.

Dench leaving sounds right. She has wanted to leave for awhile now.

The tabloids would have to have shame to be sullied by printing unverified crap. It's a different kind of narcissism feeding this.

Dench should have left a long time ago. Too bad if this is true then they are going to go for cheap stunt instead of teh dignity an M deserves.

The rumors make it hard to under stand what is going on with Bond that is why so many were surprised by Craig being cast. Even Dench was out there telling people Pierce would be back and then she didn't have the class to quit when she should have.

If they have to write her out I'd rather they just say that M quit/retired between movies than kill her off.I know she's not some fans' favorite but killing her off just seems wrong.

Well, yes, if the object is to make the tabloids feel shame then I would agree that's a fool's errand. But it might make people think twice before believing everything they read in the papers.

The Shocking revelation is not only will M as played by Judy Dench die, her last words will be "No, There is another". Sending Craig's Bond on quest to find this other 007, chasing the intangible hope he can redeem himself and maybe just maybe ignite the fading embers of humanity in smoldering the hearth of his soul.

Craig's Bond has a difficult time finding any trace of this other 007 who valiantly served his country, a mythical figure who somehow bucked the 00 section trend living long enough to retire with honors. The one aspiration Craig's Bond abandon with despair long before the completion of his first mission.

The trail grows cold and on the verge of giving up, Craig spots a silver DB5, in pristine condition, as it screams down a winding country road. Craig from his vantage point smirks then throws his car forward in cheerful pursuit. His high powered super car struggles to keep the sliver gleam in sight, finally loosing sight completely he admits defeat by slowing down, abandoning the breakneck speeds that had his tires squealing in protest. Some time later he slowly rolls into a sleepy hamlet, at a crossroad uncertain of the way he turns to left most road of the windy three way intersection. As he is admiring the lush qualities that make English villages the envy of the world, he spots the Silver DB5 parked carefully near a picturesque English inn and pub. The name of the establishment is displayed on weather beaten wooden sign hanging over the open door. "Tanners" is the name on the sign.

Craig's Bond enters the friendly atmosphere of the pup, striking up a conversation with a pleasant looking man liberally turning the spigots for the drinks. Craig says he is suppsoed to rendezvous with an acquaintance from a driving club the only problem is he has never met the man in person and is uncertain of what he looks like, skillfully suggesting that maybe the barman can help. His friend is driving a Silver DB5. The barman shakes his head in a negative responce telling Craig's Bond that he may know him on sight but only once he walks through the doorway, all men are equal to him because as far as he knows all men are walking, he goes on to explain with his view of the property he never sees the parking lot or the people as they drive in. Craig nods his head and thanks the barman by ordering a pint of whatever is on tap. Paying he then looks for a quiet spot in the corner to look over the crowd of people oblivious to him caught up in the quiet murmurer of conversation. His attention is diverted by time to time by the bevy of beautiful women in the pub, more so than he imagined a quiet country township as having rights to. Of the men, he carefully examines them but he is unable to catch a hint of anything that betrays the high level of training a former 00 will have received.

After a while he quietly excuses himself to find the restroom. The restroom is bigger, cleaner then he expected. It has a standard complement of one urinal and one closed off stall. He is startled briefly when the door opens, but soon the handsome dark haired man affably disarms him begging pardon as he didn't know the loo was in occupied. Craig dismisses any concern and proceeds to the sink to where he washes up, eventually splashing water on his face that he then mops off with a clean towel from the rack. He stares at his face, not recognizing the man he has become, his attention drifts to carefully studying his cold dead eyes with remorse.

Without warring his self examination is savagely interrupted by a vicious slamming of his head to the mirror. This is repeated four or five times in quick succession. Stunned his head is drawn away from the mirror giving him a view of his attacker, the handsome dark hair man who blundered harmlessly into the restroom not moments before. Craig now face cut and bloodied gazes uncomprehendingly at the reflection of his attacker in the shattered mirror eventually settling on the tall dark man's cold blue-gray eyes holding him in murderous contempt. Craig then feels the chilled dead metal of a small but accurate gun, a Walther PPK, pressed deeply against his neck. The man with a furious edge to his calm cultured voice, somehow making it all that much more frighting tells Craig's that Mildred, M's real name, was a very dear friend and he can not abide what was done to her.

Craig's body is pulled away from sink and mirrored wall supporting him then turned to face his attacker, fully revealing Pierce Brosnan to the suspense held audience. Craig's face is sorrowful on the verge of tears he wants to tell the man how sorry he is, how broken he is by the experience but his mouth fails to move, his throat fails to find an audible sound. Release from the strong grip of the man he slumps defeated to the floor, settling in pitiful lump certain he is about to meet his not undeserved end.

End of Act 1 & 2
