Eh, even with CGI Clash of The Titans looks cheesy(makes me want to watch the original which wasn't much better).

Harry Hamlin with an aged Ursula Andress and Burgess Meredith was lacking.

I kinda want to Netflix the original Clash Of The Titans before I see the new one.

Go ahead. I saw it many times. It was not a hit when released. Hercules with Steve Reeves was much better type of film, yet many years earlier.

The difference is that in the original, the cheesiness is part of the charm. Harryhausen's stop-motion animation is not as slick as CGI, but...one guy did all that! I find it hard to whip up as much appreciation for a team of computer programmers as for a single craftsman like Ray Harryhausen, however much shinier the fruits of the geeks' labours are.

Freida Pinto & Olivia Wilde have not been signed and neither of them were considering accepting a Bond role. When the tabloid rumors like this sprout up I always want to ask them "with what money?"
Although Olivia Wilde would have been a much better Vesper, shame they went for the odd (old) school teacher and his coworker/lover on vacation look for the romantic couple in CR.

Bond is stuck as long as MGM is stuck. No casting, no hiring a director, no nothing before the funds are freed up. WB put best bid in last week, but was well under what the creditors want. It is a big mess that looks like it will drag on for awhile longer.

Is Bond 23 likely to be a low-budget affair, though? Hollywood has never been afraid to throw money after money, and the franchise's history shows that lower-budget Bond films tend to do less well at the box office.

I don't think they could afford name actresses-like Pinto and Wilde. They would be too expensive, even without money constraints.

Here's an idea EON. Spend less on CGI and more on real stunts. Spend less on gimmicks and more on a decent story. Spend less on big names and more on decent, unknown actors. Hell, they could still use tons of unused Fleming material, so they don't really have to spend that much on a scriptwriter either.

200 million is too much to spend on a movie even for Bond. Last time they used CGI to good effect was GoldenEye and that was mostly satellites in spacer cgi and fake satellite images, the other FX was good old fashion model work. Back to basics is the way to go. Hope they can do it.

I have no idea what they spent the money on. CR in particular had few special effects. I assume the sinking building in Venice was done with miniatures. I guess most of the budget went on the airport chase, but even so, it shouldn't have cost $150 million just for a few trashed vehicles. I'll bet Gerry Anderson could have made CR for a tenth of the budget.
