Either Tomorrow Never Dies or Die Another Day... one is a dull rehash, the other is just stupid.

I think we should say "excluding CR", otherwise this debate could get a bit monotonous.

You already know mine: Moonraker.

I'd go TMWTGG, DAF (although I love some of the lines, and characters) and DAD.
DAD would win if it came down to it.

I think I alrady have, in other threads, but in a nutshell, it went way to far with the humour. Humour has always been a part of Bond fims, but most of them were thrillers with a bit of comedy, whereas MR was a comedy with a few thrills. I first saw it when I was 11 or 12 and enjoyed it enough then, but nowadays, it just makes me cringe.

DAD would be up there as the worst Bond film, yet not the worst Bond performance.

I actually struggle to watch FYEO, due to the awful disco sound and that Rog did not seem comfortable in the role. TMWTGG has moments that lift it from being one of the worst.

Different strokes for different folks, FYEO is actually my favourite Moore Bond. Agree about the score, though.

The whole film or the space scenes in particular?

I do enjoy Moonraker. Yet I think it could be better edited. Jaws was too comedic and the PTS was poor. If they would have waited and not introduced Jaws until the 'Clown' Rio scene, it would have added a real edge to his inclusion and emitted the girlfreind cr*p.

I don't care too much for Moonraker. Octopussy, A View to a Kill, and the World is Not Enough are close behind for me.

A Barry score would have lifted the film no end for me.

It strikes me that Barry was available at all the wrong times during the 70's and 80's.

Moonraker: Barry score. FYEO: Non-Barry score.
TMWTGG: Barry score. TSWLM: Non-Barry score.
AVTAK: Barry score. LTK: Non-Barry score.

Why do bad (or at least mediocre) scores happen to good films, and vice versa?

Well that's true, GE was a good Bond film with a terrible score.
But how do you answer for NSNA?
Mediocre film (mostly) even worse score. :?

I agree completely. FYEO is a very good film (mainly the last half, when more of the Fleming elements are used) but the Bill Conti score is a big let down for me. Also, having Kamen scoring LTK lends even more an 80's Lethal Weapon/Die Hard feel to it. Imagine if Barry had done the score instead. The film would have been near perfect.

Moonraker and OHMSS are probably two of Barry's best.

But then again, what the hell do I know. The moderators here feel my reputation is worth squat.

There is a good review on Moonraker on the 'Alternative Bond' site. It's certainly one of the most spectacular Bonds but also one of the most stupid. However it did get an oscar nomination for special effects. The worst performance was probably Moore in AVTAK. He looked too old & had lost the twinkle in his eyes. It was clear he was bored of playing Bond & said his lines as if he was embarrassed to say them. Lazenby's obvious lack of acting experience was evident in OHMSS and his voice was dubbed. CR is also very poor compared to all other Bond movies. However the Bond movie that nearly sunk the franchise was the weak TMWTG. Released only a year after L&LD it was way below par & performed poorly at the box office. Credit to Cubby Brocoli & Moore for saving the franchise in 1977 with TSWLM.

Disregarding Casino Royale, I can't really choose an entry which I would regard as the " worst" as that would imply that I dislike one of the pre-Craig entries. I don't!

OHMSS, not because it is the worst of them all, but because it could have been SOOO much better had it not been ruined by such a mediocre cast and such an untalented director with bad taste.

Too bad when it had this great story and musical score!

It is saved somewhat by the spectacular scenery and some of the action sequences, but the rest is just embarrassing

Didn't Barry say that the fact Lazenby was so bad inspired him to write a better score, to help cover up the film's deficiencies in the acting department?

Although OHMSS is top of many Bond lists (including mine) there doesn't seem to be an awful lot of middle-ground. I think the one-off nature of the film - in tone and casting - makes it a unique cult entry.
