Pleasant weather there this time of year. I lost the travel bug or I've been cured of it. Not sure which is better. Almost envy you the travel.

Stay safe. When it goes pear shaped out there the news scares the hell out of me. The current climate of global hostility makes less fun than it used to be.
True BJ. Luckily I've not seen any trouble here in Delhi. They are actually a very peaceful nation as a whole......not like their neighbouring countries, that's for sure.

Really? There are many criticisms I have of QoS, but being cheesy is definitely not one of them.

If anything, QoS is probably the least cheesiest Bond film in the entire franchise.
nah it just then worst ;)
It really does come down to the fundamental shift Craig brought on and continues to demand, he saw Quark before it released and though Brilliant and was confounded by the response. I am glad he stuck his thumb in the middle of next on he will continue to not understand what works and what doesn't. He focus was Bond changing not what was good about it, far as he and the theater crowd Babs hang with are concerned Bond was always a negative, book or movies, I'd dare say books more so than the movies.

Judging by the Brozza era, I agree totally.

Judging by the more recent Craig era, I don't agree.

She is more inclined to rip off Bourne, but this is not invisible car Brozza cheese.

I know you dislike QoS like I do, but did you find it cheesy Mazer? It has many faults, but being cheesy is actually not one of them (suprisingly).

They a fine bunch of reubens. It's the bloody Muslims that seem to have a problem with them. Attacking the trains and buses! bas***ds!
Years ago probably right after 9-11 there was an article about why can't India have it own war on Terror? The shear number of people killed in Kashmir by insurgents is staggering.

The freefall is cheesy, I admit. But is that any worse than what was seen during the Brozza era?

Also, overall would you say the Craig films are cheesier than the Brozza films? I know you hate Craig, and hate the new, grittier direction, so I doubt you would find Craig's films cheesier than Brozza's. You have different issues with Craig's films, I know.

Nope no velveeta. A load of crap otherwise, which is what I was describing as being symptomatic of the true problem .

Although maybe the oil girl and other homages could be considered cheesy.

Bloody hell! we rolled over to a new page.... f**k . Guess I'll look for the posts I was going to respond to tomorrow. Got to be 4 or 5 pages back now

Bloody hell the free fall is alone is of the worst things about it or any other movie Eon has made. It wasn't on the tip of my mind so thanks all for bringing it clearly to focus.
I would say there were plenty of things cheesy about CR, although I suppose it matters what you mean by cheesy. We definitely disagree about "gritty".

Depends on what your definition of cheesiness is.

For me, the cheesiest Bond films are the Moore and Brozza films. But each to their own. If you don't find the Brozza or Moore films cheesy, but you do find the Craig films incredibly cheesy, then fine. It's your opinion.

Who am I to say what's right and wrong.

This place is a democracy.

Unlike, say, MI6 where having an opposing opinion can be a no-no.Plus ,they readily admit they're NOT a democracy. :P

There is an actor called Sean Connery who made a series of camp Bond movies in the 1960's which have been parodied many times since ans spawned many cheesy spy movie imitators!! If you find elements of Brosnan or Moore cheesy, then Connery must invariably descend into cheese too.

QOS will go down as a cult cheesy movie in future years as it will fall into the "it's so bad it's funny" category. There are so many cheesy classic moments such as the freefall jump, the motorcycle flip, Craig ripping off a door handle to lock someone in a cupboard..........

I have many criticisms of Obama, but lack of intelligence is not one of them. His cool intellectual detachment was what attracted a lot of people to him (you need a steady hand on the tiller in times of crisis), but it may prove to be his undoing. He seems unwilling to really take a stand on anything, and really fight for the change he promised. I see a lot of similarities with Tony Blair - both were relatively young, charismatic leaders elected in landslides in order to punish a discredited right-wing government. And both turned out to be a case of "meet the new boss, same as the old boss". I think America desperately needs a viable third party. Both the Republicans and Democrats are too compromised, and in the service of the same elite interests. Party labels are just brands at the moment, engendering tribal loyalty, like those Mac vs. PC ads on TV. Time to revive the Populist Party?

Basically what we are saying is the enire history of the franchise has always been cooked in layers and layers of cheese.

Maybe EON should have renamed themselves `Lasagne or Nothing' instead.... :P

Are Perot and Stockdale still going. Obama said today that it is not about being reelected but being a good President even for one term so maybe he will have a go.
