If Raimi and Tobey are out then Spidey needs to rest. Let the other Marvel superheroes take the big screen. VOTE NO ON SPIDEY REBOOT!!!!!
It will be like replacing Bond in a sense when Connery left BUT Maguire is NOT the presence that Connery was as Bond when he originated the role so I really think another actor as Spiderman will work just fine.
Spidey's origins is taken care of already so no need to rehash. Why not rebooting Fantastic 4? That series wasn't that great to begin with.

I hated the Fantastic Four 2 films. To me, utter trash. The 2 Hulk films disappointed me even though Norton's was better. The Green Hornet looks like junk with the lead being Seth Rogen???????

Tony Stark/Iron Man was in Norton's Hulk.

Given the choice of The Green Lantern, the Spidey reboot or Broccoli Cheese/Bond 23, I'd choose The Green Lantern. But that's just me. *shrug*

Cameo though. It seems superhero films are in vogue with people wanting to see escapism in a film.....like the way Bond films USED to be.

Ang Lee RUINED that film with Nolte's character a lunatic moron who turns into electricity. PURE TRASH coming from Brokeback's head cheese.

I'm not BJ, but I think he'd have done as good a job on Bond as he did on the Hulk, ie not very.

Hulk wasn't a great film to begin with though I haven't seen the movie. Ang Lee fits more of a Bond director than a comic book director since Bond is a classic international figure, and Lee is from the overseas which is Taiwan. That's my opinion though.

Fans shouldn't be too surprised they were floating a reboot before Spider-man 3.

Raimi got out after Sony supposedly tried to nickel and dime him with a paltry $230 m for Spider-man 4. Don't forget he broke the bank with the 3rd movie even if the numbers have been massaged downwards. Not as bad as Cameron with Avatar but they are still sore after using a metric ton of whiteout to fix the books.

Lesson to take from this the economy does matter, no way Bond 23 will get the green light on a $200+m budget let alone what they blew on Quark. If things are really bad a new partner may want to replace Craig with a new unknown. Remember those bogus claims of Brozza demanding an outrageous payday, well the same thing here but for an actor they can get and keep on for better terms than the pampered Craig has. Doubtful but not impossible.

Broccoli Cheese may be the first low-budget Bond film!

Like Kris said, he would have been bad. A director from the Die Hard storylines would be better.

If lower budget, then less action sequences, less special effects, and more on dialogue?????????????? I SHUTTER to think what that would be like with Mumbles in the role.

Mazer, reboot Spiderman so soon? It makes no sense putting him back into high school. Who will replace To-by?

Robert Pattinson, 23, of HP and Twilight is the lead candidate for Spiderman. It seems Sony wants to capitalize on the tweens and feel that Pattinson would rake in the ladies for Spiderman. Good call?
