I'm sure you know what's next, bjmdds:

It was a smash hit on Broadway. Now this gripping, critically acclaimed play is a motion picture. A Steady Pain, starring Tony award winning actor Daniel Craig.

The UK Telegraph calls it, "riviting!"

A random Craig Fan-Boy from commanderbond.net claims, "Daniel Craig is Lawrence Olivier and Marlon Brando rolled into one!'"

Daniel Craig, Hugh Jackman; A Steady Pain.

An EON production. Released by United Artists.

Then we will see an Oscar push for Daniel Craig...

The day that Daniel Craig ever gets *close* to an Oscar nomination, I will check to see if pigs are flying, and hell has frozen over.

If the rumours about Matt Damon leaving Bourne are true, then maybe Craggy will take over that role too, to create the world's most expensive spot the difference contest.
They could save time and money running the same adverts!
Strangely enough their would probably be more resistance to Craggie boy's looks, attitude and monotone voice, not to forget his one track acting ability in the Jason Bourne role.

Right now Damon is Bourne. Universal will do what it takes to keep him. For now. If he absolutely will not do another, ever , sure they'll recast, which they'll have do anyway eventually. At this point they'd rather not risk a sure thing or cripple a up and coming franchise before it gets its legs.

Not if they got Spiderman in return.
True Spidy has made them more in over the same time than Bond very could have. (2.5 billion in BO alone, not counting home video or game sales)

But honestly they probably could have bought the Spidy rights from MGM for the right price. MGM though Spider-man was worthless, remember this was before the revival of superhero and comic book movies. To be fair MGM thought CR was worthless as well, Eon though it was "unfilmable" and honestly they didn't need guise of original Fleming stories any more.

If Sony had stood their ground they likely could have their own Billion dollar Bond franchise right now, or given themselves permission to do so when the owned MGM. Between their and McClory's rights they probably would have had everything they needed except for the Bond theme and Gun-Barrel, which oddly enough ended up cast aside by the "official series" along with the name "James Bond"

Fourth quarter 2005 alone. Around 2.5m estimated additional sales from Feb 2006-Dec 2008.
I suppose Star Trek (2009) will outgross both BB and CR in DVD sales.
There is out gross in terms of money made by each sale and then their is out sell/gross by the shear number of copies sold.

First week ST sold 5.7 million copies (including rentals, which are not normally included in these figures). It will easily beat CR and Quark, and I'll say likely beat BB buy New Years. But then I expected ST to have better legs in the Asian and Middle East markets. On the positive side is with these good dvd sales Paramount is finally securely in the Black on this movie, also securing the future of the Sequel, if that ever was in doubt.
3.6m in dvd sales around another 1m in blu-ray

4.6m to start with isn't bad. It still 1.1 off the studio's numbers but for our purposes use the lesser figure and say about 4m to beat BB, 2.2m to match its fourth quarter. If sales remain brisk it should be easy.

By the time Bond 23 comes and goes DC (lest we forget the young, dynamic, rookie Bond to replace a still only 49-years-old Brosnan) will be in his mid-forties and he isn't known for his boyish good looks. I wonder sometimes how long he can actually play the role without looking like George Burns. Maybe they should have cast one of those younger actors.

I think I just might, but I'm not sure if this is a good thing. :?

It was only a month ago where on another forum I asked, "How did the James Bond franchise get here?" You get some of the credit because your posts on this forum and others have given me good insight.

Mazer,

I hope they don't use those adverts! What have I created?!

It will be interesting to see if the Bourne series finds success well into the next decade. I guess the same could be said about James Bond!

I think they are closer to collapse than ever.Instead of reinvigorating Bond its even more limp now cause they don't know what to do or where to go with it.That is why the formula worked for 40 years and why almost any actor with the right look and right confidence could do it.One thing that bothers me about Craig is he has little confidence in then role and it shows up ever time he screws up his face to pout at the camera.A feeble try but what he considers his tough yet cool "Bond" face.

Just trying my best to spread the word about how Eon is doing their ultimate best to ruin a historic movie franchise by copying another director's ideas and having a school girl crush on a horrid Bond choice. Stay here. You belong here.

If this turns into another Eon mess like in 1989-1995, Craig is gone any way. MGM and Eon and Sony need to have probably less than $200 million ready to go for Bond 23 with the economy worldwide the way it is with banking.

MGM is out perhaps down for the count. Eon doesn't have the dosh either. Sony does but is not their partner anymore.
