The rate this is going, I can't see Craig doing a 4th one. Why are EON taking so long on this?
Riddle me this... They also have three movies to make before Bond 23, (Bang Bang, Spy movie, and the play they are making now). I doubt they'll be done in 2010. Besides God only knows if MGM will be solvent next May.

Maybe this is what Babs wants to do rather than making Bond movies, which she was never a great fan of. If her brother were to leave as it is rumored he would like to, all bets are off.

Why the hell don't they just sell the Bond franchise off to someone who CAN make decent films, and someone who cares about Bond. Stalling production for 2 years is pathetic.

Mike Wilson is bored with the whole thing. Barbara lacks ideas and is confused after Quantum of Solace flopped. It's a shame that Cubby Broccoli did not have an enthusiastic son who could have taken over.

A shame that Mikey has made noise about leaving as he would be the obvious choice to take over. What would be best is a takeover.Sure, there would be hurt feelings, but screw it.

But who would take it over? It would have to be someone as passionate about Bond as John Lasseter is about Disney (I didn't know until I saw the South Bank Show on Pixar that Lasseter is now head of both Pixar and Disney's animation department). I can't think of anyone with that sort of clout. Yes, Tarantino is a Bond fan, but is too idiosyncratic to be able to run a franchise with mass appeal - a Tarantino Bond film would appeal to Tarantino's fanbase and few others. My ideal Bond producer would be someone who loves the Bond films, even the cheesy ones, but who is smart enough to know that what worked in, say, 1973 wouldn't necessarily work today.

No, Tarantino is wrong. I can't really think of anyone else..but they should definitely have the best interests of the Bond franchise at heart.Lord knows the current regime don't.

What do you think we have been saying here Sweene? Eon=artistically bankrupt. Just look at who is playing Bond in that ridiculous french beret and the fact that 2011 should be the next release date? They got spoiled waiting 4 years after Brosnan and getting away with it. It is time for a new Bond with SONY calling ALL shots without Amy Pascal though.

Welcome to the forum Captain Arthurs!!!

Wow! Where did it all go wrong? everyone is asking EON to resign

I wouldn't mind a new producer the whole thing about teh broccolis was that they helped protect the Bond image form the lieks of Never say never and Casino Roylea so much so that a lot of us ignored the double taking pidgins and timothy dalton (just kidding! Dalton fans please dont flame me! replace Dalton with plot holes or whatever your pet peeve is) and todays studios have taken care of some decent film franchises like Harry potter, lord of the rings,

I don't think people believe that it up to one person to keep the standard anymore if they did the last star wars and Indiana Jones movies broke that illusion.

Now it seems everybody is feed up the bond team and want a new producers who love the story and want to take the time to craft the stories like WB got for the batman frachise

Tarantino is a loser and would ruin Bond for good. Just look at his face when he talks. His films are utter trash IMO.

His early stuff like Pulp Fiction is good-the rest, not so much. If we let Tarantino take over we'd get a super-violent, swear word laden Bond film(not that I am a prude or anything )

Look no further Kris. I love Bond, appreciate all the movies. Even DAD is growing on me. I'll even admit that I think QOS was a mediocre / weak Bond film.
Though I'm still happy with Craig. He wasn't the problem.
I was watching a Bond dvd last night, and one of the special features was a doco on Cubby Broccoli. Part of it was Barbara discussing Cubby's wish to 'not let them (the studios) screw it up'
Whilst I don't blame EON entirely for the recent events and poorer quality films that have been seen since Cubby's passing. They do have to take some of the blame.
I'm not sure that changing the producers is going to solve to many problems. You also run the risk of a stark contrast and someone who isn't fully in it.
As much as some of you may dislike Michael and Barbara, their commitment and work on Bond is life long. It earns a certain respect imo.

Erm, I think respect is being kind and giving them credit that they don't deserve.

I find the comment about "commitment" rather rich, given that Mikey has made noises about leaving EON on more than one occasion.Just my .02.

Well, we all think we can run the Bond franchise, but unless you're really an A-list producer in disguise, that's not quite what I meant. I'm talking about someone who loves Bond and has experience producing major motion pictures.

Giving the reins to a devoted Bond fan is not a good idea.Trust me on this one.

Not sure I agree with this. It worked pretty well for Doctor Who and Disney's new slate of traditional (as opposed to CG) animated features announced since John Lasseter took over the animation division looks pretty good too. There's even one based on a Philip K. Dick short story- me likey!

Yeah, but think about it..if we gave the reins to a Bond fan we might wind up with a Bond film with the Dr. Evil Blofeld and sharks with frickin' "lasers" on their heads.

Sigh. Once again, I'm not just talking about the likes of you or I, I'm talking about A-list producers who also happen to be fans. People like Russell T. Davies on Doctor Who or John Lasseter at Disney. People like that are not going to produce mere fanwank. Rather, they set out first and foremost to produce great movies/TV, but also have an instinctive understanding of what makes their respective franchises work.

Got it. That was more a reponse to Nash's post than anything else.I should have been more clear. My bad. I do think they could do what you're talking about-and actually make a *decent* Bond film.

You don't *have* to be a fan to run a franchise successfully (JJ Abrams famously wasn't a Star Trek fan before rebooting it), but it helps. Bond at the moment is run by someone who inherited the family business but doesn't have any great love for the movies, in fact she seems vaguely embarrassed by them. That's why she keeps hiring people who only agree to work on them if they can change them out of all recognition.
