Maybe Broccoli is far sighted and cannot see well up close.

That's a bit harsh. I think Daniel looks pretty good in the photo below, presumably taken at a QoS press event.

LOL as I have said before, there is definitely a resemblence.

Watched the Special Edition(2-disc)of Trainspotting the other day. That movie doesn't look a bit dated 13 years later.Anyways, LOTS of Bond references in the movie and a few in the Special Features, *plus* Jonny Lee Miller, who played Sick Boy, is Bernard Lee's grandson

Wow! Craig looks really pleased to be there. Minf you it is an improvement on how he normally scowls at the camera!

He could definitely play the lead in Vladimir:The Untold Story, directed by Rowdy Herrington.

A question nobody seems to be asking is where are they going to get sponsors for Bond 23.
Not the Big 3 Auto Makers. (I would pay to see them try explain to Obama why they just pissed away several million for advertising in a Bond film.)
Not the Japanese companies either.
Europe? I doubt it.

The market is hurting right now and now is when they'd try to start talks. Maybe they can put it off. Regardless but I doubt that they will have the same experience they've had since 1995.

MGM is teetering on the edge of insolvency as it is. If there are any major shake ups you can count on a major delay far as Bond 23 is concerned. Of course the major shake up last time brought in Sony as partner and they green lighted the Craig fiasco just to push things ahead because the series had stalled when MGM refused to agree to Babs choices.

What did they do during the last big recession in the '80s? As I recall, the sponsors were the same as they were during the '60s and '70s, mostly makers of high-end luxury products.

I'm not sure. Late 70's early 80's. I recall a few Ford escorts showing up.
But then it wasn't a worldwide recession moving toward depression. My point is Ford couldn't enter into a similar 3 pic agreement like they did in 2002. And none of the other auto companies are in good enough shape to either.
It used to be when a sponsor drops you would go to their competitor, because usually their competitor would be in good shape because they took the former sponsors business. In this case their direct competition is in worse shape and nobody worldwide has much capital on hand.
The highend market isn't siting this recession out as they have in the past.

Maybe not having that many millions thrown at another bloated Bond film is not a bad thing, all things considered.

It may make EON slightly more careful in the creative decisions they make, and give us a more slimmed down, stripped bare Bond film.

They are already talking about spending less on the next one. I don't know if there will be a choice in the matter.

I don't get what the money is spent on. Seriously bloated production team. I think the whole family must cash a check.

Things are not good financially for them. Essentially they are broke themselves and MGM is in the same place. Whenever the next movie goes in to production it will be a faction of what they spent on DAD, CR and QOS.

Interestingly what I said they spent on QOS it almost the exact amount they were shorted by Sony. CR was in the green to the tune of a little over $100m. Which was divvied up in 2007..

Craig's busy trying to learn his lines for his Broadway debut in 7 weeks so I doubt Bond is even on his mind. If he flops on Broadway, he will bring Jackman down with him. Why is Hugh doing this with Broccoli any way? Bond?

It could do well just on Jackman's name alone. The play subject sounds dull.
Hugh Jackman, Daniel Craig to star on Broadway

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Hugh Jackman, best known as the superhero Wolverine in the "X-Men" movies, and Daniel Craig, the superspy in the "James Bond" films, will star together on Broadway in "A Steady Rain," a play about two Chicago policeman.

The pairing, announced by the play's publicists in a statement on Thursday, is the latest in a string of shows headlined by Hollywood celebrities to hit the Great White Way. The play begins preview performances on September 10.

Australian native Jackman, 40, will return to Broadway after his hit 2004 Tony Award-winning role in the musical "The Boy From Oz." Briton Craig, 41, has appeared in London stage productions and will make his Broadway debut.

Recent Oscar host Jackman is already beloved by New York's theater community and has hosted the Tony Awards several times. His "X-Men" films have been worldwide hits.

Besides his London stage performances, Craig's turn as the latest Bond in films like "Casino Royale" and "Quantum of Solace," won high praise and has been a box office hit.

They are the latest stars to hit the New York stage this year. Others have included Oscar winners Geoffrey Rush and Susan Sarandon and Emmy Award winner James Gandolfini.

In 2006, Julia Roberts' "Three Days of Rain" raked in millions of dollars in just 12 weeks.

"A Steady Rain," by Chicago playwright Keith Huff, was first produced off-Broadway in 2006. It tells the story of two Chicago cops and their differing accounts of a few days that changed their lives.

Agreed that the subject sounds rather dull. From what I read prices for the tickets start at $66 and go up to $300. As I said before, I'm sure there will be Bond nerds at other boards who will shell out to see it.

"Starring Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig" will probably be the ads for it, not with Craig's name first. This is still weird. Broccoli is up to something and she is attempting to right Craig's film wrongs with teaming him up with big Hugh so Craig's worldwide opinion can be improved. Guess what? He will bring Jackman down. On Broadway, in the USA, you cannot mumble on stage as Craig does and get away with it. I await the reviews that recognize this. The plot is ridiculous and foreign to Broccoli. If she thinks SHE will win a Tony award for this junk, she can forget it. Just hire Jackman and give Craig the boot already.

Already dooming and glooming over a Broadway show merely because of Craig's involvement? Typical BJ. Personally, I couldn't give a crap. I'm not into Broadway.

It's based on Craig's factual non-success outside of Bond since he was glorified into the role by Broccoli. He has a 100% flop rate, so why should this 'gem' be any different?
