its just that there's not much going on in the Bond world at the moment.

My enthusiasm for the series was dented at the end of last year, with what
i thought was a very below par film in the shape of QOS :-(

Never mind.........i hope things improve for Bond 23, and i will be back on this forum
in the future to discuss the news on the next film as it is revealed.

MGW and BB better do better next time, and i hope they will leave the Bourne influence
alone, and get a more appropriate director.

Well, i'am off to Italy for 3 weeks now!

Bye EA

Welcome back EA. You were honest enough to admit QOS was tripe so your opinion is always respected here.

Appparently Peter Morgan is rumored to be writing Bond 23. This is the guy who wrote The Queen and The Last King Of Scotland. .A bit of a step back, no? :?

Craig ushered in the 'step back'. My 2 year old Dell laptop computer is acting up. It won't start up most of the time. The fan blower motor runs all the time too. The screen stays black. A Dell technician was just here. He replaced the motherboard but still, the same thing. Dell is going to pick it up within the next few days, ship it to Texas I was told, and try to fix it or else give me a new one. I will be without a computer for 5-7 days when they pick it up so I will be AWAC(away without a computer) until Dell returns it back to me fixed, or new, so keep the conversations flowing as always.

More than rumoured, it's been officially confirmed by EON according to MI6. Haven't seen The Last King of Scotland, but I have seen The Queen. Hard to tell what he'd bring to Bond from that, though, as it's a completely different genre.

MORGAN, PURVIS & WADE TO WORK ON BOND, JAMES BOND
LOS ANGELES, CA June 12, 2009 – Producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli of EON Productions Ltd and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures have today announced that Peter Morgan (Frost/Nixon, The Queen), Neal Purvis and Robert Wade (Quantum of Solace, Casino Royale) will be the screenwriters of the 23rd James Bond adventure.

Daniel Craig will reprise his role as Ian Fleming’s James Bond 007 in the film, which will be a MGM release of an EON production. Bond 23 is the latest installment in the longest-running franchise in motion picture history and will be produced by Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli. A date for the start of production is yet to be confirmed.

“Peter, Neal and Robert are extraordinarily talented and we’re looking forward to working with the three of them,” commented Wilson and Broccoli.

Peter Morgan is the award-winning writer of such films as The Last King of Scotland, The Queen and Frost/Nixon, which was based on his play. He has also scripted the upcoming The Special Relationship for HBO and Hereafter for DreamWorks. He will turn his attention to Bond 23 on completion of these duties. Morgan is represented by UTA (US) and Independent Talent Group (UK).

Since 1991 Neal Purvis and Robert Wade have collaborated on a diverse range of projects including The Italian Job, Johnny English and the past four Bond films. They recently adapted John Le Carre's The Mission Song and are also working on the upcoming sequel The Brazilian Job. Purvis and Wade are represented by Endeavor (US), Casarotto Ramsay & Associates (UK).

The Last King Of Scotland is a great movie, though not for everyone. I LOVED The Queen, very rewatchable( It's one of the Netflix DVD's at my house right now, actually  ).

Quite frankly I'm not sure whether to he happy or concerned by the news of Morgan's hiring

Highlighted the important stuff.
Aside form the production diabolical, which I will go in to in just a second, this guy is busy and they are 3rd or fourth on his burner. It also shows that Eon is still pretentious in their crap. I wouldn't but it past them to try to put more political undertones in it.

For how production can be "on" but go nowhere, look no further than P&W's The Brazilian Job.

Production is going to be a problem, everyone but Craig has a lot on their plate. Beyond that the real problem is Money. MGM doesn't have it. They owe close to 3 billion coming up in 2010. Other studios are making moves to force MGM in to bankruptcy. MGM is trying to find new capital by talking about what they have in production. Nobody cares about a RoboCop remake, the Hobbit and Bond are about the only two things they have going for them. If MGM goes into bankruptcy another studio may be partners in Bond, just like how Sony suddenly showed up as Bond CO owner in 2005.

On the news of Morgan joining the writing team, sounds promising. Again what are Purvis and Wade still doing around, EON should dump both. Hopefully Morgan will have more influcnece.

Not surprised some aren't happy, at least in these parts.

Who's not happy about Morgan here?

Problem with Cr and Quark was Haggis did have an influence. Combined with the natural talents of Purvis and Wade, it soured. Why couldn't they have kept the GE team?

Bloody Morgan's credits for those who want to know.

They did keep Bruce Feirstein for awhile, who I assume is the one who wrote the worst bits in GE, since he also wrote TND and TWINE. It's too bad Jeffrey Caine didn't stick around, and I understand that Michael France apparently wasn't too happy about his GE script being rewritten, unless there's more to that story?
