Work On 'Bond 23' Begins

Producer Michael G. Wilson broke the news today that work has begun on Bond 23.

In a very brief interview with The Sun during the Ivor Novello Awards at the Grosvenor House hotel in London last night, the longtime James Bond producer said: ‘We have started work on the new film, which I can’t say anything about. Daniel Craig is very keen to get going.’

While that was all he would reveal about the latest Bond production, Wilson went on to speak about future contenders for 007 themes after Welsh singing sensation Duffy won the PRS Most Performed Work award at the event.

‘I would love to get Duffy to sing the next tune,’ he said. ‘I think she is wonderful. Amy Winehouse would be good too.’

This must be true if it was in The Sun. Hopefully it brings the Craig era to an end.

At other Bond boards they are making a big deal about the 50th anniversary of the Bond films. At the rate EON is going there isn't going to *be* a 50th anniversary!

Oh and I know that the Sun is unreliable. Still, as I said, let the chorus of "Crackhouse for the Bond 23 theme!" begin elsewhere. :?

I'm not surprised to hear Daniel is keen to get started. He has little else to do and no other way to make a couple of million for one film. One quote from MGW in a newspaper doesn't amount to much so we'll see what happens. Duffy, Winehouse, Muse, all great choices for the theme song but, ultimately, it's all wasted on a Daniel Craig James Bond film directed by whoever is cheap enough to hire at the time. Roll on Jason Bourne 4 I say.

Yeah, not to harp on it, but his non-Bond films aren't exactly setting the box office alight, are they? And the Tin Tin movie looks set to continue that trend

That is probably Michael's stock answer: "we have started work on the new movie"! I'd imagine he is taking a break before he starts work on the new movie.

Too right. Danny has nothing else to do. Literally.

I doubt there is anything to this seriously. Not yet anyhow. Where do they get the money for production? The Broc's don't have it. MGM, doesn't have it. Sony does but they aren't in partnership for Bond any more and are paying them to make two other movies. Unless the Broc's do an end run around Sony and use the money Sony gives them for the CCBB remake and RC for Bond they are stuck with two production to finish before they can begin thinking of Bond.

Let me rephrase that, they can think about Bond 23 all they want. But they can't do s**t about it yet. Maybe saying they are working on Bond 23 for a 2011 or 2012 for 50th film anniversary sounds good to them. The rest of us in the real world know how much can change in 2 years let alone 3 to 4. After DAD the biggest film to date (not taking inflation or ticket sales into account, because that's not how Hollywood like to roll ;) ) the Broc's faltered and stalled. We had similar proclamations as well

Code: Select all
"It`s not even a glimmer in it`s mother`s eye. It`s a matter of logistics, it takes time to make these films and they get bigger and bigger, and they take more and more planning... I reckon it would be at least three years from the last film".

Eon are always planning for the future but, As MR said, it doesn't mean they can go into production whenever they want. During the long 1989-1995 hiatus I recall reading that they were still inventing gadgets and coming up with ideas all through that period.

I hope(though I'm not optimstic) that some thought goes into choosing the band for the Bond 23 theme. Alicia and Jack=rather random.

Well the Brocs just about admitted they were stuck and had to go with it. Quality be damned!

The musicians should have produced a few more songs to choose from. I rather think they knocked somrthing up in a few hours, gave it to the producers, who then were stuck with it.

Wasn't it Sony who called the shots on the song?

Annoying is being too kind.

That song was utterly dispicable, and brought a whole new low to the franchise.....which I didn't think was possible after hearing Madonna's DAD!
