Jonathan Cake

Post by John Drake »

Not sure if we've done him yet but he has a Bondish quality. He looks a bit like Tony Stark from the Iron Man comics.

I think he's been mentioned. I could see him as Bond. I remember him from Channel 4's mini-series about the life of Oswald Moseley.

I watched the last part of the Mosley mini-series quite recently - I have an old VHS recording of it.

I thought he would make a good Bond. He should be a bit more famous too.

There certainly wouldn't be an issue with his height. ISTR he is very tall, like 6'6" or something.

Yes, listed as 6'3 on every site I checked. Born in 1967 though which makes him the same age as Daniel Craig (I think) and too old to be the next Bond now anyway by the time they recast. I'm sure that old 007 Forever site had a list of actors who tested for Bond year by year and Cake did a test in 1999 according to them.

I recall the Mosley series. Cake is the type of actor Cubby would have looked at but obviously those days are gone. Anyone can be James Bond now.

Too old now to replace Craig but I wouldn't be surprised if they tested him in the past.

If Brosnan had passed on a fourth Bond movie in 2002 it would have been interesting to see who was cast. Dougray Scott seemed to be a front-runner. Cake would have been a good choice.

Didn't they stop taking bets on Scott to be Bond at one point? IGN all but announced he had the role and he admitted he talked to Eon after TWINE.

I dunno about Scott as Bond. He might have been alright.

Better than Craig, anyway. Or Owen, for that matter (I don't really share the widespread enthusiasm for Clive Owen as Bond). But he wouldn't be my first choice.

Much better. You'd have to go a long way to find someone less James Bond than the oaf below.

Is this for an acting role??? I can't believe he'd dress like that normally.

Jonathan Cake would have been a solid Bond candidate to replace Brosnan.

Not bad looking, but not ugly enough for Queen Babs' liking. Probably.
