Hardly surprising really. It would have to be the worst film I have ever seen. Save maybe Pratical Magic, Two Weeks Notice or Killdozer. Though the latter being so bad it's good.
Yes Mamma Mia may have made hundreds of millions of dollars on a shoestring budget. Be the highest selling dvd in the UK, blah blah blah, but at the end of the day it was crap!

I thought Brosnan was good in Mamma Mia!, granted he wasn't good at singing, but he did a good job.

Teh Brozz's singing wasn't great, yes, but otherwise he was good-I liked the whole cast, especially Stellan Skarsgard.

I'm thinking the nom had more to do with his singing. When he was on The Daily Show, they played a clip of him singing. Horrid!

Heh.Well, it's a musical so he should have been able to sing at least a little. This'll learn Pierce not to be interested in parts where he has to sing if he is tone deaf

Nominating Brosnan for his performance in Mamma Mia is a bit of a cheap shot considering the spirit of the film. Daniel Craig turns in joke performances in serious films which should earn him some worst actor rewards! At least critics agreed with CraigNotBond after Quantum of Solace and criticised his one note boring tough Bond act.

Brosnan's "The Greatest" has received good reviews:

Susan Sarandon and Pierce Brosnan's The Greatest screened twice over the weekend at Sundance, and however overcooked the dead-son weepie feels, we can't argue with multiple standing ovations.

Brosnan in particular, who plays the patriarch of a family devastated by the death of their teenage son in an automobile accident, was singled out for demonstration of audience affection, prompting those at Saturday morning's screening from their seats for an ovation that lasted maybe 15 seconds but felt like forever in the usually subdued early-morning setting. Sarandon and director Shana Feste felt the love as well, along with young co-stars Carey Mulligan, Johnny Simmons and Zoe Kravitz. We've been to a lot of public screenings over the years and seen and heard a lot of pushover audiences go nuts for film. This was one of those once- or twice-a-fest scenes where you could almost smell 600 people at the Racquet Club losing their s**t. People love this movie.

I finally saw it. It wasn't great, but it was fun, and I can see why it was so popular (people flocked to frothy, escapist musicals during the last Great Depression, too). And I thought Pierce was fine apart from the "singing".

I think getting Pierce to sing was supposed to be a joke. I'm not sure why he was awarded a Razzie.
