And like I said before now, fame is not the way to judge how great an actor is. There are millions of unemployed actors out there right now that have more talent than most of the A list celebs in Hollywood. It's all down to luck, right place, right time for certain actors to hit the big time. It's very little to do with talent.
I think the best all-round actors rise to the top. As you say, perhaps acting talent is not the only criteria: star power - and x-factor, or a certain look result in stardom.

I'm sure Daniel Craig is in the mix for many plum Hollywood roles; but he is only a 10th or 11th choice in many cases.

Dench, Craig and the producers were asked ad infinitum about the return of Q and Moneypenny. They have got the message and they will be back.

It's interesting how quickly QOS has slipped from the mainstream. It's barely mentioned anymore.

I'm sure there will be lots of advertising hype right before it comes out on video.

Not surprised to be honest. Personally I'm Bonded out at the moment. I'll still talk about Bond things in general, but I have absolutely no desire to watch a Bond film.

Stocks: "True" Bond fans are NEVER too tired to watch Bond films. I watched the BBC-A channel last week that repeated the first 4 Connery Bond films. It was a treat to watch all four. In Japan now, QOS was 4th at the box office weekend 3, BEHIND Mamma Mia again! It has totaled $15.9 million there, was front loaded, and may not pass the nearly $19 million CR did there 2 years ago. This was a pattern throughout the showings of TBM in most countries.

^I agree to a certain degree-but some Bond films-the early ones especially-are easier to watch than later ones.

For me (obviously biased), I found QOS to be forgettable. To be honest, I can't remember what it was about apart from the mindless killing. There is definitely far less publicity surrounding Craig than after CR. I accept that the appeal of DC's first Bond film was bound to carry more interest but I do feel that perhaps his stock value is not as high as Eon would like especially given the huge budget and marketing of QOS.

If the next Bond film is more akin to QOS, I will predict that it will be DC's last. Bold statement, I know and I’m not normally one for putting my neck on the block, but I genuinely feel it to be the case.

I'm hoping two was the charm to rid us of Craig. Eon will take their not well deserved break and then regroup with the thoughts of a less dour Bond with Q and Moneypenny, if we are to believe Dench's comments. How original? We have been saying this all along. First things first though. The 7th 007 must be selected, and quickly.

Not that Q and Moneypenny *are* going to come back(god I hope not..for now, anyways..) IMO it sounds like someone is feeding them that party line and they are repeating it.

Craig may struggle as most people seem to regard Casino Royale as the 1st in a new series and Quantum of Solace as it's sequel, disregarding the rest of the series. Therefore, I have not heard general film fans saying: "Quantum of Solace was not as good as Goldfinger" or better than "Diamonds Are Forever". Instead they always say: "it's not as good as Casino Royale". Bond is unique as it is (or was) one series with 21 sequels. If Craig's next Bond is regarded as the third in a new series, then it may suffer from the normal fate of sequels which often become less successful with each new film.

Lots of people comparing QOS to CR isn't just only because they both feature Craig, is a sequel and is part of the reboot, and ect (heck do non-fans even care about that?). Most of the comparison is due to CR being a critical success and that people obviously were hoping the follow up would live up to that quality which obviously didn't hence the disappointments and comparisons.

Eva Green just admitted kissing Craig in CR was not fun and she is embarrassed to admit she has NOT seen QOS yet. In a recent Defiance interview, Craig was cursing up a storm as the reporter noted, and he admitted he dropped out of school at age 16, and was the world's worst student, and cannot conjugate a verb in ANY language, even English. The interviewer said once he opened his mouth the debonair 'Bond air' left the room. Boxofficemojo just lowered the production costs for Defiance fro $50 million to $32 million. Who told them to do that? The Wrestler is playing now in more theatres than Defiance! Owen's The International is more Bondish than Craig's films. I hope Eon is taking note of these things.

BJ the spin doctor strikes again...... Talk about taking something out of context. This is what she actually said -
The French-born-actress, who won a BAFTA for her role as the leading lady in the film, said both she and her co-star had to make an effort to make it real.

"Well, he's not my boyfriend so it's different. You're not really enjoying yourself when kissing on screen," the Daily Express quoted her as saying.

"He's a great partner and we tried our best to make it look convincing but it's a long way away from real kissing," she added

Sweeney, NO actress says something like that about her leading man in a movie. If she's 'not really enjoying herself' kissing the thug, she should clam up and say nothing. Why did you leave out the part where she admitted to not seeing QOS? Too embarrassing for Craig maybe? Carole Bouquet said Moore could have been her father. Same thing. They both spoke the truth. You my friend ,are attempting to spin her statements into a positive thing.

IIRC Gemma Arterton said something to the effect of that kissing Craig was like kissing her father  (no way to spin that one :P)

"The International" looks quite Bondish to me.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/co ... 00874.html

Clive Owen's 'International' Appeal

If "The International" were an article of clothing, it would be a steel-gray cashmere sweater. If it were a place, it would be the first-class lounge of a major metropolitan airport. If it were weather, it would be a wintry mix of drizzle with the occasional flurry.

And if this sleek, stylish thriller were a person, well, it would be Clive Owen, who happens to carry "The International" on his strong and handsome shoulders with the unflappable cool that still makes some of us rue the day he wasn't cast as James Bond. Owen plays Interpol agent Lou Salinger, a gruff, obsessed loner who for years has been on the trail of a corrupt bank (based on the real-life Bank of Credit and Commerce International). Now he's working with the Manhattan district attorney's office, specifically a comely assistant D.A. named Ella Whitman, played in an unobjectionable if undistinguished performance by Naomi Watts.

Directed by Tom Tykwer ("Run Lola Run") with sober forthrightness, "The International" is in many ways a throwback to the monochrome urban thrillers of the 1970s, with the added and topical twist of having a diabolical financial institution at its center. Garbled at times (I'm still confused by a scene at a flower stand in Milan), the movie still hums along with attractive, smooth efficiency. The compulsively watchable Owen makes for an ideal leading man of both action and angst. The film's eye-popping set piece, a shootout at the Guggenheim Museum, is an extravagantly choreographed valentine to philistines everywhere.
