San Diego has spoken!

Post by katied »

The Union Tribune in San Diego didn't like it.

(Title of review:"Quantum Of Solace barely worthy of rich 007 history")

They called it a "sterile error in judgement". Ouch. But sounds like a LOT of the reviews that have been written .

Almaric is "not convncing"(though it must be said, they did like Dame Judi)and they HATED the theme.

I'll find out in a few hours(going to a 10:15 showing)

we have two reviews i our local paper. One is written by a real person from the community the other is cut n past by the major syndication that owns our paper.

The real person review was very damning of QOS.. Very damning

Clint O'Connor, film critic for the Cleveland Plain Dealer, also gives QOS a very bad review.

Some of his comments on the film...

"The most unBond Bond film of all"
"Choppy effort" from Forster and Haggis.
"It's the story and storytelling that falter"
"The action also seems arbitrary, lacks back story, and is shortchanged by a hodgepodge of extreme closeups and quick cutting that doesn't lead to much of a bang"
"Quantum Of Solace is largely a Bourne wannabe"
"Bond ripping off Bourne? It should always be the other way around"

It will open big, but will it fade into obscurity by day 21?

It'll be interesting to see the size of the second weekend dropoff. It was over 40% in the UK, which is not a good sign.
