And can you tell me that you don't cringe a little when you see him and Tanya Roberts together in the shower at the end of AVTAK? But at least these were women, not girls. I thought that DC was being paired with someone barely out of pigtails, which struck me as a little creepy, but now I know that she isn't the main Bond girl, I feel a little better.stockslivevan wrote:Christ, the last three Bond actors only had Bond girls who were either 10 years their junior or more, and NOW suddenly it's a BIG gap? Hi
Bond update in UK
Today one of our leading national papers had a full magazine devoted to QOS, and inside the paper there was a picture
of a very very unpleasant death which one of the characters suffers (though the UK media likes to spoil things for us).....i won't spoil it for our non-UK members...........but reading the magazine gives me to now fully believe that the sneak review of QOS a couple of weeks ago was definitely a fake, as there is a helluva lot more to QOS than was revealed, and it certainly isn't a Rambo type movie.
Also apparently theatres have been taking advance bookings for the film for some weeks now!!
The movie tie-in commercials are now playing for the film on TV, such as the 'Coke' advert and also an advert for HD tv
which shows Craig standing his ground, where explosions and all sort are going off around him.
It looks like its going to be a cracker!!

This I agree with you. ANY Bond actor should not be paired up with children compared to Bond's age and look. Richards was the WORST for me, just dreadful, especially the nuclear physicist assumption.stockslivevan wrote:Christ, the last three Bond actors only had Bond girls who were either 10 years their junior or more, and NOW suddenly it's a BIG gap? Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
I just bought the sunday special mag too. I have to say, the film sounds superb from what I've now read.
Realism, dark, character-driven, no humour, brutal action, hardly any CGI, a total attempt to return to the 60's films.
I also spoke to a film editor on Friday, who had managed to see the opening pre-credits car chase, and he said it was awesome, like no other car chase seen before on film. The cars get trashed up, and the action/stunts reach a new level of realism.
If the film lives up to what my expectations are now, I may just enjoy this even more than CR.

You can certainly see now why the movie cost around $225-230 mil to make, lots of very expensive hardware was used.
Must get round to book my ticket this week.....to see film on 31st OCT.

I'm not that excited as I don't regard it as "Bond 22". I feel it is just an action film with Daniel Craig, if that makes any sense.
Bring back Bond!

Perfect sense. And another thing-do people really get a) so excited or b) think that there is going to going to be a run on movie tickets -let alone ones for a Bond film-that they would buy tickets almost a month early?Seems crazy to me *shrug*carl stromberg wrote:I'm not that excited as I don't regard it as "Bond 22". Realistic?
A return to the 60's?
God I wish. The movies with CR got further away form the series 60s or no. They got ugly and depressed. A miserable stories for a miserable time? Sorry way too goth and misery bands for me.
You people don't even realize how you are being used by a corporation.
Maybe you do sounds as if at least one of you is working for the studio.
It wouldn't matter who the star is some fans are going to run around pretending something they do matters to the movie. Like buying tickets in advance.
Same jokers pissing on Brosnan were probably the first in line and first to report back how wonderful DAD was. I remember the same smugness from little creeps who sat on the same row as Brosnan for the premiere and were bragging about it. Same sycophantic behavior, it is a sad commentary on the mindless sheepfold and the little lambs who think they are sheepdawgs .

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Nothing sheepdog about me. I'm a massive Bond fan, but hated every Bond film made after LTK. I patiently sat and waited through the dull Brosnan years for a return to the harder edged Fleming type films. Check my reviews on DAD on MI6 a few years ago if you don't believe me (jet set willy).oscartheman wrote:Realistic?

I loved CR, and by what I'm hearing now, will love QOS too. I don't love everything EON do, as I hate the new crappy song.
So sorry, no sheepdog here. Just an avid Bond fan who is genuinely excited to see the new Bond film, the same way I was excited to see Dark Knight, as I'm also a Batman fan. Is there anything wrong with that?

It's funny, the one thing that unites everyone here is the fact that everyone here HATES AWTD(and with good reason, too!)so I can't agree with the sheepdog comment.

I don't think you got what I meant by sheep dog Willy. Why are you the sweeney here?
What do sheepdogs do? The dawgs are the Shepard helpers by doing the running needed to control the sheep.

Fair enough I suppose, but it's been over two years.
Whinge, moan, discuss and comment all you like. It's not going to change to much. Call any fans of Craig, sheep herded by Eon, I couldn't give a toss mate. Like The Sweeney I feel Craig is the best interpratation of James Bond since Timothy Dalton. Brosnan had a wonderful time playing the character, but that was not the Bond character that I prefer. I enjoyed many of his films, but nearly all of them rank low in my prefered Bond film listings.
With the arrival of Daniel Craig in the role of James Bond, and his debut film showing me that he can and has brought the character back. I'm a happy Bond fan once again, and feel we're in safe hands.

Change isn't always a bad thing;but when change comes in the form of going back to old formula(see:The dancing ladies being in the credits of QOS)then I have a problem with it.The combo of the dancing naked ladies and the dreadul theme is not a good thing.

It's been a Bond staple for 46 years, deal with it. I'm open for a breaker (CR's was fantastic), but having images of naked girls running around with guns, why not?! As long as it's done correctly.katied wrote:Ugh..the naked ladies are getiting the thumbs up you-know-where. Big shocker there.
