Bond lines will not appear in QOS.

Post by stockslivevan »

It's been confirmed neither "Bond.. James Bond" nor "shaken not stirred" will appear in the film despite being in the script because Marc Forster didn't think the line worked in the context in certain scenes.

Before any certain members whine over this, let's not forget that three previous Bond films didn't feature the immortal line and in fact Roger Moore never uttered "shaken not stirred" at least once. I don't mind, but that's mostly because I've never seen the film so I can't possibly say whether it would have worked or not for certain scenes. :P It can work, and can not work. It just depends. I think the worst use of that line was in TWINE when Bond is in the nuclear bunker, despite already using it earlier in the film.

Hey katied, you were begging EON to drop cliches, looks like someone on the set has been reading your posts.

Not putting the lines in is Forster's perogative. It's as simple as that.

I'd rather he didn't include them than shoehorn them in where they don't work. How many times has Bond said the "shaken not stirred" line anyway? I think it's only a few times in the entire series - in fact the only incidences of it I remember are the variations on the line from YOLT and CR. It appears more in lazy Bond parodies than actual Bond films.

Not putting the lines in is controversial but Kris is right.Better to leave them out than try to find a place to fit them in where they don't work.

Moore didn't say "vodka martini, shaken not stirred" in his tenure.

http://commanderbond.net/article/5516. The director says he filmed the scenes with Craig saying the famous lines, but they decided to not use them.

Yes. There was a problem with Craig saying "Bond, James Bond" being believable :P

Eh, doesn't really bother me. There's been plenty of Bond films where he hasn't said the "shaken, not stirred" line, and I'm pretty sure there's been a film or two where he hasn't said the "Bond, James Bond" line. I like to see them every so often, but there's no need to cram them into every film.

Another change? Might as well take out the traditional gun barrel sequence too. Man, they're killing Bond off.

It's a new series. The old one of Connery, Moore and all is dead.

Apparently they botched the gunbarrel sequence as well

I've no idea why they are putting the gunbarrel at the end of the fim rather than the beginning. Bizarre.

It made sense to move it in CR, but this seems, as you say, bizarre. Is it gonna be a case of "guess where the gunbarrel's gonna be in the film this time" from now on? Alfred Hitchcock, in his later films, made a point of including his trademark cameos within the first five minutes, as he found that their looking for it distracted the audience from the story. I fear the same thing for Bond.
