The headline is "No love scene with Craig makes McDowall happy"
Actress Rachel McDowall is happy she doesn't have any sex scenes in the upcoming Bond movie Quantum of Solace because actor Daniel Craig reminds her of her father
The quote is "No I don't, unfortunately. Actually, I shouldn't say that because he looks a bit like my dad, so that's a bit weird."

It is bad when the leading ladies come off the set and talks about how the "leading man" reminds them of daddy.
combine this with the height-gate revelation and it all adds up to real problems on the set.

Yes, I'm guessing they made it fairly neutral in tone and tailored it to the individual actor during the final rewrites.stockslivevan wrote:From the doc, MGW said that at the time of writing the script they had no Bond actor locked in the role and Moore already retired so they decided to write it more straightforward and not as campy as they did with Moore. I suppose he meant just less gadgets and quips, and there turned out to be not many in the final result.Kristatos wrote:And in a film that EON thought might have been a Roger Moore film until fairly close to the shoot, IIRC.
Then again there is that magic carpet scene, which thankfully was deleted.

Maybe they're going for a "pedophile Bond" thing , having women who look like they could be young enough to be his daughter playing the love interests

Um, in FYEO, Bond actually refused Bibi's advances ("get you clothes on and I'll buy you an ice cream"). I was in the throes of puberty at the time and thought he was nuts, but now I'm older, I'm more sympathetic.Mazer Rackham wrote:With Craig what choice do they have?

Bond and his love interest looking like father and daughter is creepy. I hadn't forgotten about Bibi Dahl(if FYEO was made in 2008 the Bibi/Bond relationship would be controversial, even if he gave her the brush off.)

Craig looks awful in 80% of this new trailer and it is not an exciting trailer, it is one that will be forgotten long before the movie that they paid to watch is over.
With regards the trailer, what was not exciting about it? Not enough action?

Yes, massive problems I'm sure. You watch, QOS will be a massive flop now, the critics will hate it, EON will be finished, Craig will be sacked on the spot, Babs and Wilson will pack it all in, Bond fan sites like MI6 and CBn will crumble away, on here there will be huge celebrations and partying all night long, and the Bond franchise will be no more.Mazer Rackham wrote:It is bad when the leading ladies come off the set and talks about how the "leading man" reminds them of daddy.

Somebody ought to speak up for Fleming. Anybody? Anybody? No? Guess I'll have to then.
What a load!
Fleming is Bond, that simple.
Nothing of Fleming is in the new series, it is all xeroxed action genre fluff. If you actually had digested what he wrote and not just read it you would miss the atmosphere he described in his book. The relations ship with M, Moneypenny, Mathis, Leiter, Tiger, Quarrel, the food, the cars, the women, the culture. A cornucopia of sustenance for the soul.
I admit that it is not food for small souls. If you got out of it is Bourne, you weren't imbibing what Fleming wrote on the page!
If you can digest it and spew these excuses for a small malignant little man you need to read him again and this time without Matt Damon as your movie/book buddy and without your Daniel Craig reading lamp/night light.
The trailer was not particular exciting, the "action" gave way to trifling nothings that did not feed the build up. They are counting on the nuisances of their dialog capturing attention, breaking up sequences, butchering the narrative instead of a steady flow makes it forgettable after a night at the theater. There is a 2 hour movie meant to be viewed after this.

Lets be honest, right now, Fleming would be excited to be breathing.
He would have be horrified at some of antics carried out in his name, especially during some of the Moore era.
He would have been indignant with Craig cast Bond. His standards were high and his wish list of actors to play Bond did not include Peter Cushing, Boris Karloff or Peter Lorre.

era of Bond films i.e the late 70's early 80's, i think he would be proud of how his creation had turned out and was still going strong in the 21st century, with a more reaslistic approach to the character.

Craig is not a young actor, nor a young looking one. Plenty of actors don't look their age, Craig isn't one of them. He gets caked in makeup when they send him out to special events. That can't make him happy.
Craig reminds me of those actor especially in the 1950s and 60s who (on B&W film mostly) tried to play young teenagers. If you had a small enough tv and sat far enough away it might work. If not then it was clear this troubled teenager was on his second marriage working 2 jobs to pay 3 mortgages.
It's not Craig's fault it is just they way he is. He is no Matt Damon.

You underestimate what Flemings standards were and overestimate the need to change the character.
Fleming forbid them from using the story of TSWLM, while selling the right to the name. Fleming had his limits and his standards as to what he would allow. His Bond was never a rookie, in fact he was 10 years in his OO service before the first book.
Fleming's Bond was always on the hoping to find companionship and a reliable ally. Always looking to savor the good things in life. He was not a cold blooded killer and didn't like killing himself. He was not a bumbling basher hunting for clues.
He only sought revenge with all his being once, while he fell in love frequently he only had one wife and she was the one girl who matter more to him than all the rest.
Looking at what Fleming wanted of his Bond is it is impossible for Craig to ever be it, so yeah I don't think he (Ian Fleming) would be to too thrilled with Shrek in a tux or suave Jason Statham or his stories being passed or as neo-Transporter/Bourne films.
