Batman star Christian Bale arrested

Post by Goldeneye »

The actor Christian Bale, 34, was arrested on Sunday night after his mother and sister reported him to police for an alleged assault.

His mother Jenny, 61, and sister Sharon, 40, are said to have gone to a police station in Hampshire to make the claim, which was subsequently referred to the Metropolitan police.

Bale, in London to attend the European premiere of superhero blockbuster The Dark Knight last night, was apprehended at the Dorchester hotel. The Welsh actor had been staying there when the alleged incident took place.

A Met spokesman said: "A 34-year-old man attended a London police station on Tuesday by appointment and was arrested in connection with an allegation of assault. He currently remains in custody."

As well as being released from custody to take a turn up the red carpet on Monday evening, it is thought that Bale was also allowed to take part in four press conferences to promote the film earlier that day.

The Dark Knight has already been the recipient of increased publicity after the untimely death of Heath Ledger, who plays Batman's arch nemesis The Joker. This latest real-life drama looks likely to amplify the buzz still further.

What a jerk! Why on earth would he attack his mother on the night of a huge acclaim for him. I can't begin imagine what is wrong in his head.

Very strange.
I assume that his mother and sister are (now maybe were) big supporters of his, long before his success. Ehll tbney probably supported him financially for years. I just don't get it. :|

The latest news stories I've read say he didn't hit anyone, he just lost his temper with his mother after she said nasty things about his wife, and she called the police on him. He may have threatened to beat her up (the exact details vary according to which report you read), but there's a difference between threatening to do something and actually doing it.

Doesn't seem to have harmed the box-office in any way.

That’s the best spin they could hope for. I don't get why the police would bother with it if there weren't visible marks.

If someone calls the police and tells them her son is threatening her, I suppose they have to investigate.

:? But that’s not what happened. they walked to the police station to make the complaint, they were safe and apparently unharmed if Bales account it to be believed. I don’t understand why they would investigate is there were no bruises, cuts, broken bones.

It just does nto make sense to me. But then I don’t have many dealing with the police.
If some yokel from Arkansas can in and said his wife, oh I don’t know lets call her Hillary is irate with him form losing the nomination for her and is yelling her fool head off. Unless, oh I don’t know lets say his name is Bill was hit in the head by an ashtray I think the police would off Bill shelter and some counseling but not legal criminal charges. They'd leave Hillary and Bill alone to work out their differences on their own, perhaps with a counselor.

mAybe the brit police handle things differently, if so I think I found a way to stop Criag

UK officials: Christian Bale will not face charges

Post by Goldeneye »

LONDON (AP) - Batman star Christian Bale will not face charges relating to an alleged assault on his mother and sister at the Dorchester Hotel on July 20, British prosecutors said Thursday.

The country's Crown Prosecution Service said in a statement that there was insufficient evidence to afford a "realistic prospect of conviction" and ordered the police not to take any further action in the case.

British media had reported that Bale's mother and sister told police he assaulted them at the hotel a day before attending the European premiere of his film "The Dark Knight." Bale has denied the accusation.

The Sun tabloid reported that police waited a day to question Bale to allow the actor time to attend the premiere of the film in London's Leicester Square. Bale was questioned for several hours at a police station before being released on bail.

Prosecutors said the decision not to pursue the case was based in part on the feelings of Bale's mother and sister.

Doctor think extortion attempt. Sadly happens often enough when a young actor 'makes it'. Family unheard from in years appear to cash in, if they do not acquiesce the blackguards threaten to do something to ruin the young stars reputation.

In this case it might be an honest family argument that should have remained private.
