I wouldn't mind revisiting the old craignotbond.com (before "Daniel" and "is" were added) just to get a good laugh out of the whole thing. I recall a lot of libelous crap posted on it.Captain Nash wrote:Ahh, what a lovely little find Stocks. And a mention of the old site in there too.![]()

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
The thing that amazes me with the Craignot Bond site is that Craig provoked that reaction. I can't believe another Bond actor would have annoyed fans so much that they made an anti-website. I think it's a disgrace that Eon did not care about fans feelings and chose a Bond that fans did not like.
Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Well Craig was a risky choice, but that isn't always a bad thing. Sometimes risks pay off. This one didn't IMO, though there are plenty who disagree.Mr. Big wrote:The thing that amazes me with the Craignot Bond site is that Craig provoked that reaction. You would have a point, if it wasn't for the fact that CR was a huge success, critics globally praised him, and Bond fans on other Bond sites rejoiced him as the best thing since Connery.Mr. Big wrote:The thing that amazes me with the Craignot Bond site is that Craig provoked that reaction. So to say EON chose a Bond that fans did not like is not strictly accurate. Looking purely at the internet base to judge this, you guys are in the minority. Outside of the internet, who knows. The BO of QOS will give us a fair idea though....

Not all of them by any means. I used to post on Cbn, now the most one-eyed Craig fansite on the web, and there was plenty of discontent and an exodus long before CR arrived in cinemas. One poster there asked to be unregistered the day after Craig was announced. These fans, for the most part, have long since left the main Bond forums to their own devices. I take the main forums far less seriously than they do themselves as an indicator of anything. Factor in the countless Bond fans who would never have any inclination to post on a forum. CR did very nicely and I was part of that because I paid to see it. I had no idea what the reboot would entail or how I would feel about Craig personally. I had to pay to see it to find out. The fact that my money aided CR's takings does not mean I enjoyed the film or thought that Craig was the best Bond since Connery. The Sweeney wrote:Bond fans on other Bond sites rejoiced him as the best thing since Connery.

That's correct, but you have to remember it's not just the grosses that prove it to be successful but also the raving reviews that confirmed that it was a hit, a level of critical praise by fans and non-fans the Brosnan era never got.John Drake wrote:The Sweeney wrote:CR did very nicely and I was part of that because I paid to see it. Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Yup! You hit the nail on the head there. BEFORE it arrived in the cinemas, the jury was out. Even the press had it in for Craig BEFORE it hit the cinemas. I too had my doubts BEFORE it hit the cinemas. You could say he won most of his critics over then. Good point you made there.John Drake wrote:Not all of them by any means. They could always post on here if they were that fed-up.John Drake wrote:

Bond films have always done better globally than just the US. Bond films have never been that big in the US since the dizzy heights of YOLT. Not sure what the reason is, but thankfully it is one of the few franchises that doesn't rely purely on the US to make its money.John Drake wrote:

If I was Eon it would be the US box office for QOS that I would be watching closely in november.
And if QOS does financially better than CR globally (including the US) will you then accept the fact that Craig has been accepted as Bond worlwide (even if you personally don't like him)?
Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
A lot of fans probably don't follow these things closely enough to even know that this forum is here or may not wish to post anyway. I'm glad it is here. It's obviously had a change of image and the posters all care about James Bond. I have noticed the mainstream forums getting a bit jumpy about QOs and as has been pointed out these forums are now really just for Craig fans. They sound like Sony PR men rather than Bond fans.
I hope Craig and Madam Broccoli kick on with whatever they doing and get it out of the way. Then somebody might make a James Bond film again. Take Dench and the music out of the QOS trailer and you would have no idea that it was even a Bond film! A gap after Casino Royale 2 is just going to spin out the Craig era and make for an even more ancient, craggy Bond leaping around trying desperately to be Jason Bourne.

I take it that still is from a film? Isn't he constantly winning 'Best Dressed Man' awards?

No need to explain. The MI6 forum beat the innocent enjoyment of a series of escapist films out of you.

It's from a film. The plot has a ludicrously dressed b-list British actor being cast as James Bond due to a clerical error. It's a comedy.
