Not sure I agree. The scene where Nearly Headless Q introduces it in the tube station is one of the more cringe-making in DAD. I think it's the cognitive dissonance people object to. CR was supposed to be the first film in a new Bond franchise, and yet here we see Brosnan's M. As for having a male M, that would be sweet. I think both pro and anti Craigs had enough of Bond taking orders from a skirt for 13 years. It's time to have a man run the 00s.
