Noooooooo........not Keith Chegwin.........even the UK has limits.
We don't always flock to the Bond films in our droves...........Timbo Dalton, didn't have a massive draw on the UK public,
for instance LTK only finished No6 at the BO for 1989.
Though they did flock to see DC in CR.................the final admissions figure for CR in the UK for 2006/2007 is.........
10,423,140...................very impressive, basically an admission for every 6 people here.............but its not a record for a Bond film, as 'TB' was estimated to of had over 15 mil UK admissions from a population of 52 mil in 1965/1966.
Incidently all UK admission figures are estimates, as for some bizarre reason admission figures are not recorded for films here (unlike other European nations).
All UK admission figures are based on the box office total divided by the average ticket price!!
The final tally for the US for CR admissions was 25,469,964 (not sure if this includes Canada, as a further 500,000 plus
admissions is also quoted for the province of 'Quebec'.
The 'US' figure falls somewhere in the middle of the 24-27 mil admissions recorded for the PB Bonds, which seems to prove
that there is a loyal Bond fan base in the STATES, but Bond hasn't recruited a new larger audience there......yet...if ever!!

Four years and two Brosnan films wasted, from 2002-2006.James wrote:bjmdds wrote:Casino Royale took in $105 million in the UK, Malta, and Ireland, in 2006, which even topped HP's $101 million in 2007 there. What was the fascination in the UK that gave the film it's huge numbers there? Was it more 1)Craig as Bond OR 2)the gritty reboot? Choose ONE only, for those who reside in the UK and lived through it's run there.
It was the first James Bond film for four years and had featured in the British tabloids just about every single day since November 2005 with all the stories about Craig having his teeth knocked out and being beaten up by Cub Scouts. I can't speak for anywhere else but it's a big thing when a Bond film comes out in Britain for tradition if nothing else. Also, the UK is an easier market to flood. I've probably said this before but I recall being in a supermarket before CR came out and seeing DC's mug on about ten magazines. Finally, it appealed more to non-Bond fans because it was more of a generic reading of 007 taken mostly from Jason Bourne.I honestly think Britain would have collectively gone to see the film if Keith Chegwin had played James Bond in it.

When the action trailer is released next Wednesday for QOS, let us see just how close the ACTUAL footage reminds us all of the Bourne series with Matt Damon. At that point, Quantum Of Solace(or Sole-less) will be seen for what it truly is:THE BOURNE MIMICRY, starring(?) Daniel Craig as a carbon copied Jason Bourne. By the way, this Will Smith Hancock looks like PURE rubbish, a drunken, homeless, Iron Man type comedy ripoff.

Here's official footage http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NK9hI-CmGMk
I know BJ will blow this to hell, but keep in mind ever since 1995 every Bond trailer has been compiled of action pieces. We all knew it was coming, let's not act surprised. Even Casino Royale's trailer suffered that trend of action action action. It certainly looks more stylish than CR.

Glad we're reserving the overall judgement of this film like real Bond fans.

There's between having an opinion on a ten second clip with each shot being a split second long and judging the whole film on that little clip.
I like the clip a lot, but I'm not saying QOS is gonna be the best Bond film ever. I'm taking it slowly. Everyone else here seems to wanna jump on the gun already.

The trailer will be on line this Monday for us all to see, so the heck with Hancock. Also, what do you think about Sophie Marceau saying Craig looks more like a Russian spy?

BJ, what do you think of Jane Seymour making a remark like taking on Craig in bed?

Yeah, I come from MI6. So what? That doesn't mean anything. It's not where I'm from, it's who I am. I am Stockslivevan/Makeshift Python. It's interesting.I'm not a fan but I can see her point. As for Hancock,it's got "flop" written all over itbjmdds wrote:The trailer will be on line this Monday for us all to see, so the heck with Hancock. Also, what do you think about Sophie Marceau saying Craig looks more like a Russian spy?

Because you come over here and expect us all to like The Place That Can't Be Named. You can try and convince us that it's SUCH a wonderful place.Keep trying.I know Retrokitty tries too but she isn't winning me over, especially when she flip flops, and contradicts herself all of the time(I mean come on!She gives me grief for being hidden when she posts and she gives me grief for doing the same. The only reason I keep mentioning that that is because it is the most blatant example of her hypocrisy, and it REALLY sticks in my craw.

I don't expect anyone to suddenly like MI6, I expect everyone to take my perspective into account, just like you.
