Maybe they argued over it and she won. Or maybe MGW had another choice but didn't feel as strongly about him as Babs did about Craig, and just thought "whatever". You don't think it's strange that Sam Worthington was actually offered the part and then EON called him back to say "April Fool"?stockslivevan wrote:By your assumptions? I doubt he was thinking "whatever" when it comes to making the biggest decisions in the film industry because that's just career suicide. Both producers had to be very determined on if they were gonna go with a certain actor, it takes two to tango. And was Sam Worthington actually offered the part or was one of the remaining auditions? IIRC, Craig was the only actor offered the part and the rest were auditions.
Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
I read an interview with him where he said that he was. I think this was it, but when I tried opening it to check, it wouldn't load.stockslivevan wrote:And was Sam Worthington actually offered the part or was one of the remaining auditions?

He mentions EON offered him to audition for the role, so that's what you were probably thinking of. Looking at the pictures, I don't think he would be ready. He looks too young for Bond, oddly he looks younger than Lazenby who was a year younger in OHMSS. Maybe when Craig steps down he'll look more like the part.Kristatos wrote:I read an interview with him where he said that he was. I notice that it's in the norm that Hollywood actors have to look 10 years younger than they actually are these days and Craig certainly isn't in that group. In the 70s a 25 looked 10 years older than anyone in the same age in this era. An example is Christopher Reeva and Brandon Routh. Both were the exact same age when they played Superman, but Reeve has a more mature face. I think since the 90s people have gotten to used to seeing very youthful looking actors in films, not enough real looking men like in Old Hollywood like John Wayne, James Stewart, Cary Grant, Bogart, ect. Men like them wouldn't get a job in Hollywood these days.

Too "young" for a rebooted novice Bond? That is exactly the look for such a premise. Craig's problem is he does not fit the 'concept' of what Eon planned:a novice Bond, early 30s look, who is first attaining his 00 status. I am totally against this reboot concept;however, Worthington would have been a logical look, not Craig, and what Broccoli did, although successful once, made NO sense to much of the Bond community, except the worshippers at MI6 and CB.net.stockslivevan wrote:He mentions EON offered him to audition for the role, so that's what you were probably thinking of. He stated Eon wanted a younger look for Bond, ala Damon's Bourne. Do I hear The Bourne Mimicry?Kristatos wrote:I read an interview with him where he said that he was. of the theme tune to QOS as she does have a very good singing voice.
I hear Simon Cowell's being trying to promote Leona Lewis to sing the theme of QOS to the producers.
I bet he's seeing lots of dollar signs in his eyes

For a contrast with Craig, this is what Worthington looks like.

For a TRUE "reboot", you could do 5 films with that look.

Could the reboot work with Gerard Butler as Bond? Or Gerry might be a little bit too old for this.

But you forget, Craig isn't portraying a young early 30s Bond. His Bond is born in 1968.bjmdds wrote:Craig's problem is he does not fit the 'concept' of what Eon planned:a novice Bond, early 30s look, who is first attaining his 00 status.

One of the reasons his "Bond" was such a muddle and a failure for me!stockslivevan wrote:But you forget, Craig isn't portraying a young early 30s Bond. Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
I have managed to open that link, but it wasn't the interview I was thinking of. I'm pretty sure I saw one where Worthington said that he was offered the role and accepted, but was phoned a day or two later to say that EON had changed their minds and offered it to Craig instead. Wish I could find it.

Butler never seems to have been a serious contender for the role. Not sure why. Maybe he didn't want the job.FormerBondFan wrote:Could the reboot work with Gerard Butler as Bond? Or Gerry might be a little bit too old for this.

Perhaps a certain woman didn't want a Butler screentest for Sony to digest.
