DC IS BOND!!!

Post by pgt1400 »

Sean was the ONLY Bond for me. Roger Moore was more of a comic figure and will always be The Saint...he never had the coldness that a trained assassin should have on screen. Lazenby was good but only a one hit wonder. Timothy was just nowhere for me and Brosnan will always be Remington Steele...he was never believeable as Bond. I lost all interest in Bond films until Daniel Craig. I watched the film with apprehension but now I could watch CR over and over. I never thought anyone could replace Sean as my favorite...but this guy IS the modern day Bond...totally believeable, cold yet with a heart. Looks good, tough...I hope he makes more than only 3 Bond films.

Well, thanks for arguing your case in a non-trolling way, but I doubt you'll change anybody's mind here. People either believe what you just wrote or they don't. Most Bond fans agree with you, but the ones that don't come here.

It looks like your perfect Bond has arrived! Daniel Craig seems to be popular with people who were bored with Bond films - and you seem to fall into that category too.

Another Craig fan who seems to dislike most of the series.

Did you miss the remark on Connery? I can see his point though since most of Moore and Brosnan lacked the edge Connery had.

No, I didn't miss the point about Connery. I did though notice that he dismissed Lazenby, Moore, Dalton and Brosnan. They account for what, fourteen films in the series?

I only find one Bond film unbearable.

Just because he dismisses everyone else besides Connery doesn't make him another "Craig fan that hates Bond"

Nope, just someone who doesn't like much of the James Bond series. CR aside, I love all the films, even the goofy ones.

I've gotta disagree with Kristatos here when somebody post a topic is all caps it is rude. We've seen it all before some flash in the pan coming here to try to stir up something for lord knows what reason they all post topics in caps.
I also Disagree that all Bond fans are united or universally accept anything. I was never involved with online forums before this one and I don't know too many in my personal life who are involved with anything online.

After the rude start I was pleasantly surprised to find the poster had an thought behind his post, let me saw welcome.

I couldn't disagree more on several points. You marginalize Moore and Brosnan say that they'll always be the Saint and Steele. Moore had plenty of Cold moments and was very brutal at times, I think perhaps your generalizations on Moore has more to do with at the time cheesy productions values. Maybe The Satin made a bigger impression on you than it did me, I didn't grow up with Moore as the Saint.
I did grow up with Brosnan as Steele but I saw him as Bond.
Lazenby I disagree with he had the right looks and right confidence but was a little too wooden.
Dalton we do a gree on. But I enjoy watching his films as I do Lazenby's, as I enjoy to watch them all from time to time. Wiht the notable exception of CR.
Connery is the Bond to go by form me form Dr. No on it was an enjoyable trip.

Since Connery was the ONLY Bond for you what did you make of NSNA?

On Craig we couldn't disagree more it seems a valid criticism that you dislike most of the film series. We all have our favorite stories and favorite actors and some we can't stand and some we will never watch again.
For Craig's spy I can't even call what he tires to do Bond, it is a far cry form what Bond is in the book and was in the movies since Dr No and he is a far cry from the Kind of actors Fleming wanted.
The Modern day Bond isn't Bourne with a brit accent and isn't a guy who was transfered by mistake from the SAS brig to the water cooler by M's office.
That Craig would be marked by mall security as a killer is believable but that wasn't all Bond was. Fleming stressed that Bond was a gentleman but also a man of action. A Killer but separated by his own personal conduct and mind set from teh thugs he constantly ran up against, like Mr Nash and Odd Job.

Did you watch Sir Rog in the Saint prior to watching him play Bond?

Also you make reference to Moore not having a coldness that a trained assassin should have as a reason for dismissing him as a replacement Bond. Would you say Connery protrayed that same 'coldness' in GF and DAF?

Welcome to the forum.

I too was bored with the franchise after LTK, but CR and Craig has made me glad to be a Bond fan again. You obviously liked Connery as 007 (who doesn't) but what did you think of LTK or OHMSS?

Another pro-Craiger has breached our sanctuary. This is an outrage. I don't like to make threats but there may be a letter in The Times about this. :)

If the entire post had been in all caps, with multiple exclamation marks everywhere, I'd agree with you; but a 3-word, 8-letter subject line doesn't bother me too much.
