Still....Going back to the "old", easily make-funofable formula is rather telling.

It worked for 40 years, why not? As long as it's done properly we're in good hands (unless you're anti-Craig of course).

I disagree. What a shame that they're going back to the tried and true formula(and I KNOW I'm not the only one who thinks this!)

Boxofficemojo gave a nice review for The Hulk. It will be interesting to see how well it does this weekend. There is so much buzz about box office revenue with the explosive earnings so far of Indy 4(almost $600 million worldwide), Iron Man, and even SATC, an R rated girly film. I wonder what Hancock will do with The Dark Knight to follow. Huge numbers out there. The Bourne Mimicry probably will not even reach The Bourne Ultimatum's opening weekend. In 2008, HUGE openings are the key word. Can TBM:QOS possibly do $75 million opening weekend in the USA? With Craig getting overworked and cut up as a stunt man, might he chuck the action role as Bond and move on if the film underwhelms? Let us all hope he sees the light, and continues to make more films like Flashback Of A Fool, which BOMBED big time in the UK.

BJ, none of the Bond films have ever tasted domestic $200 million since YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE and that was 40 years ago. So don't you think it's a little unfair to compare today's summer blockbusters to a Bond film, with or without Craig in it, that will likely only make something below $200 million?

Besides, Bond has always had more love from the international audience. When a Bond film's run isn't impressive compared to a modern blockbuster in the US, the international audience assures to keep the series successful. Batman Begins made $205 domestically compared to Casino Royale's $167, but the international numbers is a whole different story.

It did work for 40 years, until they made all the changes to the formula for Casino Royale, a change that was welcomed by many, including fans like yourself who have said that you dislike 50% + of the Bond movies. Why bother to make a Bond movie if you are going to remove all the elements of a Bond movie?

I'd like a formulaic Bond movie, with someone who looks like James Bond plus Q, Moneypenny and all. :)

I've never said I dislike 50% + of the Bond movies. Far from it. There are films that I'm not so keen to watch, but they would number maybe three films from the series. And even those are films that I do watch, and enjoy parts of. Unlike many of the members here, I'm a Bond fan through and through. My opinion of the films rarely changes, and I'll always watch Bond. Unless they make him American, gay or coloured. If that happens I'm outta here.
But that isn't going to happen. Not while BB and MGW are in charge.

Just because I dislike 50% of the Bond films doesn't mean I hate the formula. I just think 50% weren't handled well at all, which is occupied by the Moore and Brosnan eras. If the formula is executed well then that's great, I didn't think it was in those eras at all, especially when they lacked edge. I welcomed the changes in CR because I knew this one be a one-time deal. As for Q and Moneypenny, they lost their relevance after OHMSS (especially after Lois and Llewellyn left), which was the last time I got the impression that they were characters instead of check marks. There's no doubt they will return since Mike and Babs never ruled out the possibility of their return, if so, I hope they actually make them interesting.

Normally, it would not matter Stocks;however, if Eon is shelling out $230 million(before promotional advertising costs?) for this film, which will make it one of the most expensive films ever made, it had BETTER beat out SATC in the USA, and top $200 million in the USA. The international market, outside of the loyal UK, is a question mark now with Craig's second outing as Bond. It will make or break him this time around. I have a strong feeling Craig will be more dirty than clean in this film, and the action scenes will drown out any character development as well. Bond is still in his infancy stages here, cutting his teeth as a 00!

Nash:All members here are true fans of the franchise, despite vehemently disliking ONE film. We have a serious problem with the chosen lead actor and reboot concept, neither of which relates to the past 20 films.

Absolutely.I'm definitely not a fan of AVTAK(to use my favorite expression-to each his/her own)and the less said about DAD the better :P

Not liking one or two of the Bond films does not make you any less of a fan. :?

How can you be sure before you've even seen the film? Raiders of the Lost Ark had tons of action yet still provided character development.

And you claim to deny it when people accuse you of "look at me!" behavior and of being better than everyone else. The truth can be summed up in the quoted statement above. It says a LOT without saying much at all.

"Oooh, you're NOT a true Bond fan if you hate a couple of the films!" What a crock. :?

If it's true that NOT liking a couple of the Bond films makes you less of a fan, then there are a lot of people out there that(by your standards) are not true fans.Superiority complex, much?

Just a couple of things k8'd.
One why did you use the same quote three times?
Why not just edit your first post twice?
Trying to boost your post count.
Two, you don't know me, so don't assume you can judge me. By saying I'm a Bond fan through and through is not a claim that I'm any better than any other member. It's a comment on my status as a Bond fan. GOT IT!
And now onto the important stuff, QOS will be a huge hit worldwide, for Bond the American market is important, but unlike almost all other films is not the make or break market. It's one the things that make Bond unique. Bond is Bond, and people flock to see it, providing it doesn't get bad word of mouth initally, you've generally got a hit on your hands. Don't worry about the money being spent BJ, it's being well spent...and it's not as if it's yours. . For someone who is opposed to Craig, Broccoli, EON, Sony et all, you're more concerned about the outcome of QOS than most people I know. But don't let that stop you discussing it.

Wow, is that "GOT IT!" supposed to make me RESPECT you? It's not working. :?

I don't want your respect dimwit.
But for someone that doesn't like the Mi6 site, you shouldn't care what sort of job we do moderating it. You just didn't like it because the mods didn't do what YOU wanted.
Quit being a troll for once in your life.
