So now that Indy is kind of been and gone, what blockbusters do we have next?
The Hulk
Get Smart
Hancock
The Dark Knight
and...
Quantum Of Solace to round the year out.
I can't see The Hulk generating to much business, judging by the trailer it looks terrible. Get Smart on the other hand looks to be alot of fun. The new Austin Powers maybe?
Of the rest of the films I've listed *cough (and many I've obviously forgotten)cough* TDK and QOS will almost certainly be big at the box office. I'm expecting both to do big numbers and are likely to beat their predecessors.

I wasn't overwhelmed by Ang Lee's Hulk or the trailers for the new Ed Norton Hulk. The Dark Knight looks like the main highlight of the year now. It's a shame that new Star Trek reboot won't be released in 2008 as originally planned. The film wil be finished soon but they pushed it back to 2009. I read that after viewing footage of the film they started to think they had a blockbuster on their hands and moved the release to next summer. QOS/TBM :P should have a teaser trailer pretty soon shouldn't it?

Regarding the film the 'Hulk'

Ang Lee's film a few years ago dissapointed fans with its CGI creation and the poor speed movement of
the creature.............but i wonder why a film studio felt the need to remake the film in such a short time
.......as going by the trailer it seems to be pretty much the same as the old film.

What do members here think of the remake.........and why?

I think they should have made a sequel rather than a remake. Do we really need to sit through the Hulk's origin story again?

I dunno, I like the story... the beginnings of The Hulk.

Having said that, I haven't overdosed on it through the years either. But it's one story that I would have been a bit interested in had I not seen some really bad CGI piccies... I don't mind special effects looking cartoonish... but not the creature or his pants!! his pants looks worse than Homer Simpson's.

I guess I should be happy he's wearing pants at all .... ;)

Please explain how an "R" rated Sex In The City does $56 million in the USA opening weekend knocking Indy 4 to second place? It appears that $40 million will be a given for The Bourne Mimicry with Craig opening weekend. That amount is now a low figure. Box office numbers seem to be going through the roof now.

Ang Lee is a horrible director IMO. Crouching Tiger, Brokeback, and The Hulk, were ridiculous. Norton's version will BY FAR be better than Lee's mess.

It's not actually a remake, the film takes place after the Ang Lee film. The only difference is that it has a new creative team and it's more of a standalone/episodic entry rather than being treated as a sequel.

Not really, a $40 million opening weekend would still be considered impressive for a Fall release. If Bond opened like that on a Summer release it would certainly be less than impressive. I don't expect Sex in the City to make it on the longrun, let alone $100 million. All the women have seen it on opening weekend and so what audience is there left?

Regarding 'Sex in the City'................Yes it had a large opening in the States, but as 'Stocks' said,
i don't expect it to keep up the numbers in the long run.

Just look at the weekend figures..........a huge opening day on Friday, but big drop offs on Saturday
and then Sunday.
This sort of performance is not indicative of a blockbuster!

Maybe SATC can't hold on in the domestic market, but here in Australia the film is yet to open.It comes out tomorrow here (thurs) and according to Mrs.Nash the film is booked out untill at least the weekend.
The same cannot be said of Indy 4. Opened as usual on thursday, but the first weekend there were plenty of seats available for weekend viewings.
I'm not a huge fan of SATC, but my wife is. I'll tag along to see what it's all about.
Now what about that chap Bond? Any news on the QOS front?

'Nash'

On the BOND front, there hasn't been any decent news recently..............though it has been reported that filming
is coming towards the end, with the last part of filming to be shot at Pinewood.

The next major event will be the QOS trailer at the beginning of July, which will give us a flavour of the film.
If you dont see it at the cinema, i'am sure you will see it on 'YOU TUBE'.

Not to mention the husbands and boyfriends who got dragged along. Fortunately, Mrs. Kristatos has expressed absolutely no interest in seeing it, so I won't be needing any of the "survival guides" for men that have been published in various newspapers.

I wont need a survival guide to SATC. If the film doesn't cut it for me, I'm one of those lucky people that can sleep anywhere, in any situation. A nice little nap would be just fine. Wish I'd of done that during KOTCS

From what i've read so far from reports from the cast and crew, QOS is absolutely stuffed full of action sequences.....
as has been mentioned before, and Craig says the film goes from one action sequence to another........which is fine,
but i hope we also get some great dialogue scenes as well, or the film will be a little hollow.
