I am.That, and The Dark Knight.

I said on another thread that Raiders was a formative movie viewing experience for me(That, and Star Wars when I was 6 years old). It's cool, because they are reissuing the Indiana Jones movies on DVD so a whole new generation is rediscovering them.Though it's funny that they're marketing them as "family" films. They're anything but! They're as much family films as most of the Bond films are!(to keep things topical :P)

Temple of Doom was my first Indy flick and I was 8, yet I was okay with all the gross stuff, but then again all little boys are into that stuff. :) The sexual stuff have always been restricted to dialogue, subtle enough to fly over kids' heads. I sure didn't really care what exactly they were talking about in that one scene where she bets Indy will march in her room for sex after five minutes in his room, since I was just waiting for Indy to find hidden temples and escape booby traps.

This probably belongs on another thread, but I'll tie Bond into it(again!)I was watching Shrek 2 with my nephews who are 7 and 10,and there was stuff that I KNOW went over their heads. My 12-year-old nephew has seen CR multiple times.

I guess it runs in the family;I saw my first Bond film when I was small;my dad took one of my brothers to see Alien(he had to sleep with the lights on for a while afterwards). My first R rated film was Stand By Me,which, looking back on it wasn't that bad.

The buzz surrounding the new Indy film is really negative from what I've gathered. I don't believe any of the reviews on AIC were genuine because anyone could have written them and they seemed more concerned with ripping George Lucas to shreds than discussing the film in any depth. It screens in Cannes on sunday night I think.

The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull may break all existing openings in the USA. There is tremendous anticipation for this film, unlike the 4th Superman film, which should never have been made(Nor the 3rd for that matter). Spiderman, Harry Potter, etc., may be eclipsed by Indiana Jones 4. I will see it, and hopefully enjoy it. Again, if Nicholas Cage replaced Harrison Ford in the role, would there be this much anticipation? I doubt it. Correct casting matters, just to tie in to the general discussion theme.

Not from what I have been hearing from people. Those who grew up on Indy in the 1980s will be joined by those now in the new century, to bring out a probable HUGE box office result, HUGE!

Yeah, it just sounds like people are jumping on the "it sucks, Lucas ruined my childhood" bandwagon. Indiana Jones is supposed to be popcorn fun, nothing deep. People should relax and have a good time at the movies. From the trailers it looks like what it is: Another fun Indiana Jones flick that will make you feel like you've been riding a rollercoaster. :)

Yup, fans who were disgruntled with the Star Wars prequels and the 1997 special edition versions of the original trilogy.

I don't really care about all that stuff since I just wanna have a good time at the movies.

The prequels did not cut it for them? How Anakin became Darth Vader did not seal their deal?

When should a new M be instituted, before or after Craig's run as Bond ends, and should the next one be a man, or will Broccoli continue on her path with a woman running the MI6 show?

Guess you never saw the second season of Spaced.
Daisy: So how are you, you big bloody man?
Tim: I'm good, I'm good. Just, had a few things to sort out.
Daisy: With Sarah?
Tim: No, with George Lucas.
Daisy: Tim, it's been over a year.
Tim: It's been 18 months, Daisy. And it still hurts.
Daisy: Well, I didn't think The Phantom Menace was *that* bad

I agree 'BJ'... that the new Indy film will have a Huge opening in the US and also here in the UK.

Usually film frnachises which have a long break between the original films and their latest instalment, usaully ends up
with the latest film........doing well, but not in the same vain as its predecesors...........i.e Terminator, Die Hard and
Mission Impossible, but there's something about Indy and Harrison Ford which should entail massive audience interest next weekend.

I don't put much stock into AICN(or any other movie website/blog,to be honest).

There will alway be a dissatisfied group when it comes to fandoms. It's especially true of Star Wars. It's REALLY true of Bond :P

This is the problem with releasing something new, years after a film has become legendary status like the Star Wars franchise and Indy.

It was a bit like when Free as a Bird was released by The Threetles (as they were nick-named by the press) back in 1995, to co-incide with The Beatles Anthology. Some of the press felt that trying to release something as a new Beatles record 25 years later was blasphemy. they didn't like the idea of messing with a legend, and potentially ruin the massive history and classic status.

Having said all that, I can't wait for Indy....

Really? I thought they objected to it because it sucked.

Matter of opinion, Kris. I personally loved both Free as a Bird and Real Love. I thought they were superb, and quite sad to hear the 4 of them back together again, with a ghostly John on vocals.

Incidentally, Free as a Bird is Noel Gallagher's favourite Beatles song...

I'm not sure how Dame Judi feels about continuing with the role. I get the feeling that she rather enjoys being OO7's boss. She's really grown on me over the years, I didn't really like the change in GE, but she's got better with age...and time.
If QOS is her last Bond or if she stays on for Bond 23 then I'm fine with it. But if they do replace her I'd like to see a man back in the role of M. Nothing against a female M, but when you've got an actress as good as Dame Judi Dench in the role, then it would be a) hard to top, and b) why bother when you already have Dench.
The only other female I could see or could even be capable of playing the role would be Mrs.Bond aka Dame Diana Rigg. Yep. I could see her in the role. Easily.
As for a male M, Martin Shaw, David Warner or Michael Gambon would fit the role imo.

Eh,I liked the "Threetles" stuff. There are plenty of Beatles songs I *don't* like, as big a fan as I am.I know,right?- "How can you not like *every* Beatles song?"They have plenty of cr*ap songs.I'll just leave it at that :P

As for Dame Judi, I say let her do it as long as she wants to(and can).I'm a fan of Bernard Lee,but I love Dame Judi. After she's out I think they should go back to a male M, though.
