I have seen that figure before of $230 million. Does that include the promotional budget as well though? If not, TBM will have to surpass $600 million to break even. Isn't MGM a stock company? Don't they have to report truthful expenditures to their shareholders?

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Once an actor turns 'bum', I have NO regard whatsoever for their body of work. I would never support 1 dime to any future Gibson film. Josh Brolin is a nobody with trigger fists, except for being Streisand's current stepson. The only reason Stone used him was his family ties to Barbara to drive home his points most likely with an actor who believes deeply the same thing he does.stockslivevan wrote:So you're one of those people who can't seperate the artist from the art? Fair enough. I suppose you feel disgusted by Mel Gibson, so do I, but when I watch a movie like Leathal Weapon I don't think about him but rather the character in the film. But that's just me.bjmdds wrote:Brolin likes to punch his wife Diane Lane and was arrested for it in 2004. Domestic abuse. His step-mom HATES Bush and LOVES the Clinton's.

You know BJ with that George W. Bush movie coming out is a personal insult to the president. Everytime someone makes a movie like this the President has always been dead. This is just a hit job on the President. You didn't see anyone make a movie of Bill Clinton when he was getting impeached.
Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
The only way I would see that Dumbya(sorry,NOT a fan of the guy) movie is if it was for free..and if I had an option to leave whenever I wanted.Add to that,I'm no fan of Stone's either.
Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Not at the time, but ABC in the States recently showed a 2-part TV movie called The Path to 9/11 which rewrote history so that the September 11th attacks somehow became the fault of the Clenis. And Wag The Dog was a thinly-disguised attack on Clinton.James1090 wrote:You know BJ with that George W. Bush movie coming out is a personal insult to the president. I am no big fan of Bush;however, Stone's tactics right before a presidential election are obvious. In Wall Street, his underlying tone was anti-USA corporations. The guy has issues with his own capitalistic country, no doubt about it, yet again, he is one of the 'elite' who preaches his visual sermon to the masses. Hopefully, his film will do what the anti-Iraq USA films did, and bomb!James1090 wrote:You know BJ with that George W. Bush movie coming out is a personal insult to the president. Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Oh god...don't get me started on people who should NOT direct Bond films.Stone wouldn't be *right* at the top,but he'd be close
Quentin Tarantino
Anyone who has done a "torture porn" movie
Oliver Stone
(I have a dislike of people named Oliver I guess..totally by coincidence Oliver North was doing a book signing in the area yesterday and I *know* that attracted all of the millitary types in the area(I live in an area with a Navy and a Marine base,FYI)

Yes, i think not letting him direct FYEO was one of the stupidest decisions EON ever made. On the plus side, we did get Raiders as a result.Arthur Brain wrote:Helloooooooo..............England calling!!!

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
A Steven Spielberg Bond film starring Timothy Dalton as the new Bond of the 80s... That would have been exciting. FYEO is good, but it needed a stronger director and a new Bond. John Glen is one of the most bland directors of the series, he's lucky that he managed to get good acting on screen otherwise the 80s would have been a step down from the 70s.Kristatos wrote:Yes, i think not letting him direct FYEO was one of the stupidest decisions EON ever made. Spielberg would have been right circa the 80's perhaps. Not so much now, though.

I'd agree with that. The Sweeney wrote:I don't know that much about the script yet. I'm trying to avoid as many spoilers as possible. I'd rather judge the film properly when I see it in the cinema, script an' all.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
He certainly doesn't seem to come across that well, especially in the interviews I've seen. That said, I consider Platoon to be one of the best movies ever made and I thought his version of the JFK assasination was pretty good too.Kristatos wrote:Depends how the message is delivered. I'm not opposed to political messages per se, but I can't stand preachiness, especially in a supposedly escapist movie. I won't go and see Oiver Stone movies, for example, not because I necessarily disagree with what he is saying, but because I find his self-importance and humourlessness grating.bjmdds wrote:We do not need political underlying "green" environmental messages, where the desolate terrain is supposedly equated to Bond's need for SOLACE after Vesper's end, do we?

What is with the fascination in the USA with Iron Man? It has done $177 million here in just 10 days! CR did not do that here it's ENTIRE run.
Has anyone seen it?
