BJ, I think I speak for a lot of fans that include anti and pro Craigers, we just don't want to have another known actor come back playing a different role, especially a former 007 star for that matter. It was an odd trend EON did in OP, GE and TND.
It started with minor roles which was really no big deal because they were never as notable, until Shane Rimmer of course was brought back for a third time. Again, they were minor and never distracted anyone from the film. However, having Maud Adams come back playing an entirely different Bond girl in Octopussy and then having the Joe Don Baker as the main villain in TLD to come back as an entirely different character in GE and TND is one of the oddest casting decisions. And we almost did have Sean Connery become the father of Pierce Brosnan but thankfully EON had enough senses to not go forward with it otherwise that would have been another element in DAD when it comes to trashing Bond.
Perhaps they'll reintroduce the M we know from 1962-1979 after Judi Dench leaves the role given that this is new continuity. They did for Felix Leiter, and in the future they will for Moneypenny and Major Boothroyd. But I can't see them bringing back actors playing entirely different roles unless they were extremely minor like the actress who played that Chinese girl in the very beginning of YOLT appearing in non-speaking role in CR.

I'm not really that bothered about the actual plot at the moment (never really have been with any of the Bond films). My main concern is how everything is executed and shown on film. Will the action be in a gritty, realistic, Bourne style, or will it revert back to the naff OTT crap we suffered during the Brosnan years, with Bond straightening his tie underwater, etc.bjmdds wrote:Does everyone like the way the storyline is emerging for QOSTBM? The natural resource in question has been revealed as a water supply;limited ladies for Bond;desert terrain as a big backdrop;Bond still making mistakes and dealing with it;Bond with a broken heart on a revenge of sorts mission.
That is my only main concern right now.

It looks like somewhere in between. Exhilarating and gritty. If we start having helicopters with buzzsaws chasing Bond then we're in trouble. The Sweeney wrote:I'm not really that bothered about the actual plot at the moment (never really have been with any of the Bond films). It's a fantasy action film, so I presume the action will be similar to all the other action films.
If that buzzsaw scene was in QOS, people would be saying "what a humane buzzsaw scene, I really felt Bond was in danger".
I'm looking forward to everyone on here, MI6, CommanderBond, the James Bond newsgroup etc moaning about the mindless action scenes.

Like I said earlier, if this film dares to tread back into Brosnan/DAD territory, I will be the biggest No.1 anti-EON fan on here.carl stromberg wrote:It's a fantasy action film, so I presume the action will be similar to all the other action films.![]()

If it is a film packed with action, a la Bourne Ultimatum, then I will be the biggest No.1 EON fan on here.

Does the new villain look 'inviting' or 'unappealing' to you? So the essence of the plot is that Vesper was involved with a terrorist organization that wants to take control of a water supply in South America? I do not think Haggis ever thought ahead while rewriting CR, in regards to what direction Bond would be going on in the next film. Original from Haggis, yes, but does this interest you? The past: [The Faberge egg, the space shuttles, oil pipelines, undersea cities, cities in space, villain lairs in the Alps, volcanic underground space platforms, Little Nelly, diamond space lasers, underwater frogmen fights, robbing Fort Knox, Las Vegas, etc.] The future: a conspiracy to gain control of a South American water field?

Many of the things you listed there bj, is what I actually find quite naff in Bond films as a whole - especially cities in space and diamond space lasers - which I despise and detest like nothing else in this galaxy!!bjmdds wrote:Does the new villain look 'inviting' or 'unappealing' to you? the only problem i have with some of these things nowadays is their repetitive reappearance in subsequent films.
After DAD, i didn't want to see another 'laser bearing satellite' again.
Back to 'QOS'
We are slowly getting a picture of what the film could be like.
What i like so far is that we are going to get (i hope) new locations and action pieces which we havn't seen in previous Bonds.
It appears the finale of the film could be in the desert!
From what i've read so far, is that the film is stuffed full of numerous action set pieces............i wonder how much of the 120mins running time of the film will be left for serious dialogue.
btw: Craig says there will be some nudity.............something for the ladies eh?
Overall, i think EON are trying to please everyone with this film.........and
i think they could succede!...........OOPS.......i meant most people!

If I read correctly, that's only a fraction of the Organization that Greene is working for. If I were the head of an evil organization I would cover all aspects of power, with one of them being water. Remember the SPECTRE meeting in Thunderball? All the top men who were in charge of different tasks reported to their leader. So I suspect that Dominic Greene is supposed to be in the same league as Dr. No, Rosa Klebb, Emilio Largo and Mr. Osato. Leaders of different projects reporting to the big boss, Blofeld.bjmdds wrote:So the essence of the plot is that Vesper was involved with a terrorist organization that wants to take control of a water supply in South America?
And no, I don't think the leader is Blofeld, just using an example.
By Craig's third film I expect to see the whole picture when it comes to the secret organization, if not the fourth.

Side nudity perhaps? The longest opening Bond sequence ever? Amy Winehouse to sing the title song? Does it get any better than that?Arthur Brain wrote:I have enjoyed most of those things in that list 'BJ'..........when i was younger i enjoyed the big futuristic sets and the high tech gadgets....butbjmdds wrote:Does the new villain look 'inviting' or 'unappealing' to you?
