I'm sure Sony and EON are quivering in their tiny boots once they saw that website link...
Your buddy, and the Python's(Stocks),Jack Wade, at MI6 called me a "pathetic" and "useless" "troll" for commenting that this list omitted an important film. I ask you both, is that called for and does it not reinforce what a pathetic forum site MI6 has truly become?

More worrying is that QOS doesn't even appear on Yahoo Movies' most searched for top 20 for fall 2008 movies

I never said that BJ, stop putting words in my mouth. :?

And was everyone ignoring this link? http://movies.aol.com/movie-photo/best-movies-2008 It's amazing how BJ jumps around using a random site as if it's QOS's destiny written in stone. Every site has different Top 10 of the years. I figure QOS won't make it on those lists until the real publicity starts storming in with trailers, posters, ect.

Apples and oranges. The AOL site was their panel's opinion of the movies they're most eagerly anticipating. The Yahoo page, OTOH, was a chart of what people are actually searching for on Yahoo, and gives a pretty good indication of the buzz surrounding particular movies. It may be that there is a rational explanation for why it didn't make the top 20, like someone at Yahoo neglecting to add together searches for "Quantum of Solance" and "Bond 22". If not, it doesn't bode well. But I'm starting to doom 'n' gloom like BJ, so I'd better add that you may be right, and there will be more buzz once the publicity campaign begins in earnest.

Blimey............whats with all this doom and gloom...........just because ONE list doesn't have QOS on it, then everyone immediately thinks the film is destined to be a turkey.

Come on you know it means nothing!!

By the end of this year, most of those films on that list will be a distant memory..........except the one that was accidently omitted. :D

I am looking forward however, to see how the next Indy film turns out!!

There has been no hype yet for QOS, which is not released until the end of the year. Right now the focus is on films out for the summer (Indy 4, Dark Knight, etc.)

You can bet your bottom dollar that once more news is leaked about QOS towards summer, those lists will change. I thought this would be obvious to everyone here.

I mean really. Really!! Is anyone really taking these sites seriously....

Not disagreeing with the bulk of your post, but this is one thing I wanted to pull you up on. The list I was referring to was the one for films released in the fall/autumn of 2008 and beyond. "Beyond" includes films projected for way in the future, like the perenially-stuck-in-development-hell Batman vs. Superman.

Again, that list will have no bearing whatsoever on the BO outcome of QOS. Are you telling me worldwide audiences who log onto that particular website, will read through the list and think `Hmm. Right. Well, I'll go and see alll of those films, and then come December, have a Homer Simpson moment and shout out `Doh! There was also a Bond film out! I wanted to see that too! Why didn't that stupid list inform me there was also a Bond film out! I can't believe it!!'

Sorry guys, but the franchise is waaaaay too big to be dicatated by one poxy film list.....

That's not what I'm saying at all. What I'm saying is (and I'll put it in bold if that makes it clearer) that nobody is searching for QOS on Yahoo. Well, maybe not nobody, but fewer people than are searching for at least 20 other films released in the same timeframe. On the surface, this suggests a lack of buzz surrounding the film, though as I said before, there may be other explanations for why this is the case.

Edit: just to make it even clearer, I mentioned Batman vs. Superman, a film that isn't even in production yet. The fact that so many people are searching for news of it on Yahoo Movies suggests that there is a lot of anticipation for this movie, and that when it is eventually released, a lot of people are going to be really hyped for it. Now do you see?

I now understand your point, Kristatos.

But you have to also factor in a few extra things too. I doubt the internet fans of Batman v Superman are the same fans that love Bond films. They'll probably belong to a younger group, and one which will bring great BO business to that film, the same way all superhero kids films bring in the big bucks.

The Bond worldwide audience is probably older, and not everyone worldwide who sees the latest Bond film spends endless hours searching the internet for QOS news, 10 months before its release. The ones that do will probably be members of one or two of the many Bond internet forums anyway, where most of the news is published daily.

I still think that come summer, when the EON/Sony marketing campaign starts to kick in, and Indy 4 and DK have finished at the cinema, QOS will be one of the hot favourites for later this year.

Besides, there isn't much news to look for at the moment regarding QOS, and what little there is has been broadcast to countless TV news channels already, where most people have seen it.

A few internet geeks scouring the internet for news right now doesn't paint the doom and gloom picture for what will happen in 10 months time....

You're probably right. The list does seemed to be skewed towards films that appeal to the wired generation. For the full list, see here:

Your own post speaks volumes Sweeney. The very first one has QOS BEHIND Sex and The City, Hellboy II, and Star Trek which comes out AFTER QOS. Good work. You showed a very relevant point. The Bourne Mimicry was not even ranked in the top 10!

Totally disagree with your analysis. What was that media frenzied press conference a few weeks back to discuss the naming of Bond 22? Star Trek has NO hype and is showing stronger interest on these sites as well, and will be released 1 1/2 months AFTER QOS with Craig. There is definitely LESS 'Craig as Bond hysteria' this time around Sweeney.
