However I think the writing's on the wall that this formula is passe'. So again it depends on who they install as program manager and how well they have their finger on the pulse of the industry.
Well, jumping on a bandwagon just as it's slowing to a halt is a venerable Bond tradition.
Touché! Good point Kris!

For the Oscars last night, the Bond tribute was weird. This blurb from the NY Post is a good summary:
Why, exactly, did Margaret Qualley dance during a pointless tribute to James Bond that featured godawful covers of “Diamonds Are Forever” and “Live and Let Die”?
I'm a musician, on weekends I play guitar in a metal band. To me, the Bond songs performed had horrible arrangements. Halle Berry did stand at the podium and acknowledged the series, Barbara Broccoli, and Michael G. Wilson. But let's face it, they're not household names like a Spielberg or Lucas so I doubt the masses cared. The camera panned over to them real quick. Wilson in his 80's looked naturally withered, Barbara isn't aging well. They're old, obviously. They symbolize an old series. For the memoriam part, somebody should have included the gun barrel logo in the photo sequence to signal the death of the series.
Q, the segment was not well done and the 3 female singers did no justice to the songs. BOAR-bara looks dreadful and MGW looks tired. Most watching did not know who they were supposed to look at when they panned to their seat area for all of 2 seconds.
The Academy Awards drew 18 million viewers on Sunday, ABC said, citing Nielsen data. That is an 8 percent drop from the 19.5 million who watched last year. The audience decline ends a three-year streak when Oscar ratings had been on the rise.

Also who did Margaret Qualley pay to get that job?
I have no idea who she is MP but it says this on the internet: While Qualley might be known for her performances in “The Substance” alongside Demi Moore, as well as “Maid,” “Kinds of Kindness,” “Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood” and “Poor Things,” she was a trained dancer before pivoting into the world of acting. Qualley, who is the daughter of Andie MacDowell and Paul J. Qualley, grew up dancing, and eventually studied dance at the North Carolina School of the Arts, where she trained as a ballet dancer. She also was an apprentice at the American Ballet Theatre while she attended the New York’s Professional Children’s School.
It looks like we have a lot of people looking in tonight on this forum which is great! We have had 9.5 MILLION views on this forum since its inception and it will be interesting to see if Amazon names their new Bond before we top 10 million views!

I just looked at the MI6-HQ forum just to see if the Broccoli retirement hit them hard. Someone named FOXROX wrote this: " I forgot to add under “worst-case scenario,” I am afraid of a noticeable shift for the series to start feeling more American and less British. I’m not saying that Bond & company wouldn’t still be located in England, but the tone and feel could easily be lost without those right, subtle sensibilities. As a US citizen (and one currently very ashamed one, mind you, though I did nothing personally to contribute to the current mess), the last thing I want is for Bond to become Americanized." ------this is the mindset of un-Americans who have gone woke and lost their minds. I tried to log on to respond and was DENIED ACCESS.
The feared possibility of Bond becoming "Americanized" has been an official EON talking point since at least the sale of MGM to Amazon. Babz had her mouth piece John Logan lament about it in his EON commissioned editorial. What everyone seems to forget, ironically including EON is Babz her brother their children everybody who was or could have been in charge of this series at EON are in fact American! Amazon is no more nor no less American than the Broccolis, Wilsons, et. al. And how "quintessentially British" was Craig's Bond anyway?

Funny thing about Bond being Americanized is cubby and saltzman were Americans , Babs was born in LA.
I do think 60-70s pinewood studio a British cast helped give bond its flavors. Terrence young really gave bond the direction and style , Guy Hamilton, Peter r hunt, Lewis Gilbert, John Glenn were British / English
I think it could be argued the early directors helped give bond series the British feel
Cubby enabled it, but American family were the stewards of bond. Amazon do not have to mess it up just because it’s American , it’ll be because of their corporate culture and internal bureaucracy.

This is because the forum's infrastructure is dying BJ. Just like the expired security certificate on DCINB. I've tried reaching out to the powers that be whom I know, to no avail. I'm afraid even the proprietors of this forum and DCINB have moved on from Bond long ago. It's only a matter of time before it collapses. It's somewhat poetic I suppose, this site will crash about the same time Barbera Broccoli's career does.

Someone is renewing the domain name, though. It was renewed last August for another 6 years.

I don’t think they ever had security certificates I think the new browsers are more sensitive to certificates.
Other error looks like too many connections to this data base or the server it is connected to
They have the certificates O, one of the owners renewed it some time back and performed some over due maintenance. That time has come again, however those who can do it seem to be no longer around.

I remember reading that Fleming sent notes abt Bond to the producers saying JB should not be "too British and never wear a boiler hat". Heck, Cubby signed John Gavin for DAF and tested Brolin for OP.
Brosnan recently spoke with GQ about his upcoming show "Mobland." Conversation eventually turned to "James Bond," given that Brosnan played the character in four films from "GoldenEye" to "Die Another Day" in 2002, with Cr-egg succeeding him. Brosnan was asked if he was aware that certain sections of the internet had called for him to return as an older 007 and whether or not that would interest him. Here's what he had to say about it:
"I've heard of that. Of course, how could I not be interested? But it's a delicate situation now. I think it's best to let sleeping dogs lie, really. I think so. It's a rather romantic notion and idea, but I think everything changes, everything falls apart. I think that it's best left to another man, really. Fresh blood."-----maybe FBF would return here if this ever happened?-------Amazon made the correct decision to rid the franchise of Broccoli's presence as she was no longer in the market to proceed. After all, since 2015 she has only produced ONE Bond film so what would be the point in her remaining? The key will be who they place in charge of production. I do not believe, given the turn the world has taken to end WOKE, that a feminist left-wing person would be selected to run the show and make the decisions. If they choose a proper and level headed person the future of the franchise has a chance. We shall see. They won't be afraid either to pay a more known and popular person as well vs. Broccoli.
bjmdds wrote: Thu Mar 06, 2025 12:58 amAfter all, since 2015 she has only produced ONE Bond film so what would be the point in her remaining?
Yes, one upside to Amazon taking over is that at least we know they will actually make a new film! I'm still a little shocked that Broccoli chose to ditch her father's core belief that no one actor was bigger than Bond. And that she completely ran from the challenge of recasting and continuing the series.
It almost feels like we're due for another Goldeneye- a return to basics starring someone the public already views as an obvious 007. It's one reason why I wouldn't be surprised to see Cavill announced in the role.
I'm also not convinced Amazon will ultimately bring any more corporate mentality to the franchise than any other major studio would. They pretty much all have some form of streaming app geared towards churning out content. And let's face it, even the last couple of Bond movies already felt like they were written by an AI, considering the amount of jumbled elements that were just randomly pulled from previous Bond books and films!
