Bezos has shown himself more than willing to cooperate with the Musk administration, ordering the Washington Post to kill op-eds and even cartoons critical of the current government. For people like him, money will always take priority over any principles they may have.

IGN ran their own poll. I voted for Cavill, who was on 54% when I voted: https://www.ign.com/articles/amazon-bos ... -and-clear

I'm just wondering if the leak of Cavill screen test was well placed leak by Amazon. Interesting the deal came out soon after leak.

The “too old” comment likely referenced Broccoli stating that Bond should be played by a man in his 30s since each actor takes on the role for ten years. But with Amazon in charge, that stipulation might no longer hold true.

Yeah definitely Barbera Bots who haven't had their firmware updated. Cavill is 41 same age as Dalton when he took the role, Brosnan was 42 and Moore was 45! Craig the young upstart rookie agent was 38. Other than Babz' earlier statements there is no hard fast rule as to how old Bond should be.

Dalton said: “It’s a wonderful franchise. The movies have taken different courses over the years, but there is something very good about the ORIGINAL and I hope Amazon latches onto that and GIVES US THE KIND OF FILM that’s brought so much excitement and fun to so many people."-------even Dalton knew Broccoli veered way off course but won't admit it in so many words to offend her.

I thought he took a shot at Babz regarding Cubby's tight grip and he was an "anchor". Passive aggressive IMO

The message Broccoli relayed was that she and her producing partner Michael G. Wilson have relinquished creative control of all things 007. One recipient who received the Broccoli phone call likened it to receiving a call “about a death in the family.” “Perhaps,” one of several people Deadline contacted said, and not in jest, “I do think that it’s possible that if God had sent us a totally no-brainer Bond in the last couple of years, then it might be a different situation.” Another told Deadline that Broccoli was “calm” and seemed “resigned” to what she and her partner and half-brother Wilson had signed away to Amazon MGM Studios.

“You could tell she was upset though,” they said. “She sighed, said what she had to say about the impending announcement, and then we chatted about other stuff.”.........and ran to the bank to deposit her $500 million share of the deal! Bezos made them an offer they could not refuse! https://www.youtube.com/shorts/fOiH30CkhT0

Frankly I feel Amazon got off cheap, I would have thought it would take a hell of a lot more to wrest creative away from Babz without coercion. Which they obviously applied, better to take half of something than all of nothing.

Some interesting quotes from Dalton there, and ones that appear to go beyond the usual PR fluff. Also, if anyone hasn't watched 1923 yet, I highly recommend checking it out just for Dalton's performance.

Not to mention, most of the current contenders in their 40s still appear younger than Connery did in his 30s! Craig was something of an outlier in that he appeared to age very quickly once he hit 40.

Welcome Jake, and not from State Farm Insurance! The crazy part is we here knew before Broccoli even realized it, that she would NEVER do another Bond film without Cr-egg. Once the shock hit her, she delayed any new things being done with the expectation she would cash out at a soon to be age 65 and not even allow her younger relatives to take over and possibly be more successful than her. Mind games for sure. The website name was our OPINION that Daniel Cr-egg is not Bond. Now, it will be a FACT that Daniel Cr-egg is not Bond and the forum's name will remain intact in that regard.

Hello and welcome to the forum Jake!

Yes Connery, like many of his time, had the look of a man a decade beyond his years. As you point out Craig's craggy mug aged so poorly so quickly EON had to change tack from boyish rookie agent to grizzled burnt out cop, two weeks from retirement in less than two films!

One friend of Ms Broccoli said: 'Barbara had meetings in her offices at Pinewood Studios [where Bond is filmed when not on location] and she met Aaron Taylor-Johnson and others. But there was never a story, script or director so any meetings were very much her seeing what talent is out there. It was clear to many of us who worked on previous Bond films that things were in crisis, nothing was moving forward. It went into death spiral mode once Amazon bought MGM and control of the Bond library.' The Wall Street Journal claimed Ms Broccoli slammed Amazon executives as 'f****** idiots' for describing Bond as 'content', a modern term referring to digital information and entertainment, which she felt demeaned the historical legacy of the character.........Bond sources would love Cr-egg :hair: to drive the character forward, but this time from behind the camera. One said: 'Daniel played Bond five times, he knows the character inside and out. He was immersed in the creative process from the script to planning stunts. He'd be great.' For her part, Ms Broccoli is developing a remake of the children's film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, written, like Bond was, by Ian Fleming. 'My life has been dedicated to maintaining and building upon the extraordinary legacy that was handed to Michael and me by our father… I feel it is time to focus on my other projects,' she said.

Who said this Amazon? Then it well and truly is the end of times for Bond. Surely Amazon with all their analytics can see the bloom is finally off the rose on the Craig era and he is receiving the derision he so richly deserves. Bringing him back to oversee the future of the franchise would be sheer madness!

That comment about Daniel Craig directing the next movie is from this article in the Daily Mail.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... mazon.html

The reporter's insiders are saying Daniel will have insight into making a Bond movie.

From that same article, it's reported Barbara Broccoli got tired of fighting Amazon. It was easier to take the money. So it sounds like she got burned out.

I call bulls**t on this. Craig has never directed so much as a music video before. Nobody gets given a $300 million blockbuster as their directorial debut. It's just one person's opinion, and you know what they say about opinions.

He was my choice back then now I think he was not right in the long run
