Cr-egg thought he was Oscar bound with that woke role MP and boy did he get a wake up call!.......Queer failed to make an impression at the Academy Awards entirely, with the film receiving no nominations.

He won’t fade into obscurity Not as long as he still has fanboys at places like MI6. I’d say this wife’s career is healthier than hers and she hasn’t done *that* much lately.

Looks like Babbzy has finally been pushed out. I'd cheer, except I fear that what's to come will be far worse:

This is not good news at all. Though I didn't care for the direction they took after 2006 I still liked the idea of Bond being a family run franchise controlled by the heirs of Cubby. I had presumed the children of Michael and Barbara would take over. I really hope Barbara got some sort of agreement that Bond will remain purely a cinema property and streaming spin-off/prequel shows are off the table (look at what happened to Star Trek and Star Wars). It looks like Barbara didn't have much enthusiasm anymore without Craig and decided to take the money.

“Since his theatrical introduction over 60 years ago, James Bond has been one of the most iconic characters in filmed entertainment,” said Mike Hopkins, head of Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios.

“We are grateful to the late Albert R. Broccoli and Harry Saltzman for bringing James Bond to movie theatres around the world, and to Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli for their unyielding dedication and their role in continuing the legacy of the franchise that is cherished by legions of fans worldwide. We are honoured to continue this treasured heritage, and look forward to ushering in the next phase of the legendary 007 for audiences around the world.”

“With my 007 career spanning nearly 60 incredible years, I am stepping back from producing the James Bond films to focus on art and charitable projects. Therefore, Barbara and I agree, it is time for our trusted partner, Amazon MGM Studios, to lead James Bond into the future,” said Wilson.

I don't know if Amazon will change the policy of wanting to hire an actor in his thirties, but if Cavill is cast, I doubt Warhammer will be a factor. Amazon is working on lots of films, and that's not really how movie casting works.

How many times was it mentioned here this was the inevitable as Broccoli was done with the franchise after her boy toy ogre was gone? She has NO interest in continuing and her statements about needing TIME to see where to go next after killing Bond off was just talk. She could not care less what happens going forward with the franchise. Amazon will hire someone within 6 months as the new Bond if they have half a brain and will stop wasting time. Perhaps Aidan Turner has a chance now. Notice not a morsel has been stated by Broccoli about this.

At least Bezos CARES about public opinion. If this was done in 2005 Cr-egg would NEVER have been selected.

We'd probably have got Clive Owen, though, who I don't regard as much of an improvement.

Firstly, sorry to hear you've been unwell, Kris and hope you are feeling better now.

As for the Amazon takeover, I am going to cautiously say that some good might come out of this in some form. We all wanted a change and there is more chance of that happening now for better or worse. Regarding spin-offs, if they go that route with TV shows it is likely there will be ones that don't appeal to us but it also gives the opportunity for them to do something that really appeals to the classic fans. We might get that 50s period piece as well.

Well with Trek the spin-offs gave us Picard, Strange New Worlds and Lower Decks and while I don't like any of those as much as the older stuff, there were still bits I really enjoyed. Another example is the recent Terminator movies have been pretty awful but the Sarah Connor Chronicles show was actually quite good. So I am going to try and be optimistic for once. Must be crazy. :jack:

Shocking, positively shocking, well not that shocking. As BJ said we've all been saying this was a possibility for some time. I said it as soon as Amazon bought MGM, Babbzy isn't dealing with a perpetually bankrupt studio who needs her more than she needed them, Amazon have the money and more importantly the lawyers to put out her lights and apparently that's just what they did. As Kris said this is a case of EON being forced rather than the amiable "decision" the P.R. flunkies have concocted, only last month Babz was leaking hit pieces to the media.

As to what's next? I agree this isn't a case of "ding dong the witch is dead." Amazon can and will destroy our favorite character every bit as efficiently as EON did even more so, just look at what they did to Lord of the Rings. Look forward to "The Adventures of Moneypenny" and lord knows what else they'll crap out in a rush to cash in on their biggest franchise, just look at that "reality show" they foisted upon us last year, an "Amazing Race" knock off already in the can before the Bond veneer was spackled over the top with a rough trowel.

For Babz it's off to obscurity with her and her mega flops. Amazon may make a few coins in the short term but I can guarantee whatever they put out will be garbage and viewership will falter almost immediately. The fans will be left with nothing to look forward to. In short there are absolutely no winners in this

Cavill working on Warhammer puts his foot in the door with Amazon, whether that buys him anything remains to be seen.

Tuesday was 18 years since KRIS joined this forum by the way! The sell out was announced around his anniversary!-------EXCLUSIVE: It’s taking around $1 BILLION to have 007 stewards Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson cede creative oversight of their family’s storied James Bond franchise to Amazon MGM Studios, sources said! Amazon originally overpaid on its purchase of MGM in a deal orchestrated by then-MGM board chair Kevin Ulrich. Though valued between $3.5 billion-$4 billion, the legendary motion picture studio was absorbed by the streamer for $8.5 billion, the hefty sum propped up by the potential access of the 007 franchise. However, Amazon couldn’t fully freely develop Bond with Broccoli and Wilson in the mix. Hence, it took another $1 billion to ensure that they could fully steer and exploit the Ian Fleming IP. Details on what makes up the new $1 BILLION deal is unknown at this time, and whether it includes Amazon stock options; the deal for Amazon MGM to take full creative command of Bond hasn’t closed yet while Amazon MGM Studios declined comment for this story.......if Cr-egg was still there Broccoli would be all in 'no bout a doubt it', but with him gone, it all came down to this for BORE-bara and her brother: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yyt9k0worMo There will be new Bond within 6 months now as Amazon is deep in the red with the purchase of the franchise and will look to earn back a chunk very quickly.

Greetings all.

Just thought I’d check in now we have some news. This is the best thing to happen to the franchise in years. No longer do we have Babs at the helm, making crazy decisions like killing off the main character. 2 producers whose heart wasn’t in it anymore, especially once Babs beloved Craig stepped down. She was a Craig fanboy first and foremost.

Hopefully we get a team with renewed energy, who will take the series into a different direction, and will get all fans back onside, including you lot…. ;)
