Stocks:In The Bourne Ultimatum, there was increased interaction between Bourne and his female government superior, correct? In The Bourne Supremacy, the idea of a traitor in Bourne's own government was an important factor, correct? In The Bourne Ultimatum, there was increased concentration on 'action' sequences as well as a continued storyline dealing with his own inner conflicts, correct? In the first 2 Bourne films, he is attempting to unravel an organization, correct? How is the plot synopsis, at it's core, of Quantum Of Solace, not, in fact, my favorite title over these past several months, The Bourne Mimicry?

BJ, you're looking deep once again. I suppose Dench was brought in 1995 because EON gained precognitive abilities and predicted a spy/female superior? As for the traitor in MI6, it's also been done on Bond already with DAD, although they screwed up that aspect and didn't go deep enough. I really wouldn't mind them getting back to that aspect because I always found that fascinating. Increasing the action is inetivable after CR given that film was centered around a card game. Now that card play is done, we're back to action extravaganza Bond films that have existed long before Bourne. And remember when EON stated that they were going to use Fleming themes for QOS? In the books Bond wants to have his revenge against the SMERSH after the events in CR, a similar direction they are taking with QOS going against the organization.
Of course it will look like a rip-off of Bourne for you because Bourne ripped off concepts of Bond, renamed characters and packaged them as "THE BOURNE SERIES".
The day Bond starts going on the run from MI6 with Moby music playing in the backround, losing his sense of humor and becoming more of a Debbie Downer, without any flair or style used in Bond films, I'll say "Bond ripped off Bounre".

Predicting bad results for QOS, bj? This is dejavu all over again, and we all know what happened last time with your predictions......bjmdds wrote:There will be fewer tickets sold in the USA for the Quantum Of Solace than were sold for CR Sweeney. I just don't see this storyline, with Bond 'kicking ass' to baddies and a non-eventful villain, as he deals with his inner emotions over Vesper betraying him, as great material for the public to be enthused over, factoring in a female side-kick such as Yeoh in TND.The Sweeney wrote:I guess I was exaggerating somewhat......Kristatos wrote:That'd be quite a feat, considering DAD only sold 27.6 million tickets (and CR 25.4 million). Even Thunderball didn't sell 80 million tickets in the US.The Sweeney wrote:It should have been 80 million fewer, according to bj's theory.....

Not everywhere Stocks. Not everywhere.stockslivevan wrote:I was actually thinking "Quantum of Solace" will expand people's vocabulary.

Still bj will never change his spots. We could find QOS to be the biggest and best Bond film ever made, massive box office, adored by fans who disliked Craig in the first place, littered with awards and he would still have something negative to say.
One trick pony.
Hopefully the TBM crap has ended...oh no wait here it comes.

A twenty minute press conference is held to 'unveil' the title of Bond 22 to be this "Quantum Of Solace", instead of The Bourne Mimicry. I find it utterly fascinating that the lead actor in the role is AWOL! Surely, he could have taken a half hour out of his time to be present and questioned. Could it be his lackluster performance at his coronation ceremony in 2005? Who cares about Dame Dench being there? I also find it fascinating that Broccoli stated they are going one film at a time with Craig as Bond, but they have discussed the POSSIBILITY of future films.

I cannot believe you find Craig's absence at a major Eon event nothing that matters. Could you have an Indiana Jones press conference without Ford, or a Rambo press conference without Stallone, or a Bourne press conference without Damon being present? Of course it matters, and it speaks volumes to Eon keeping Craig's mouth under wraps. The question is why?stockslivevan wrote:Why does it matter BJ?

I don't find it a big deal because we already had a bunch of video interviews from different stations with Craig minutes right after the conference was finished. Besides, why are you only concerned with Craig not being there? Why aren't you concerned about the rest of the cast? Doesn't the press have questions they would like to ask them? Again, they already made interviews with the press minutes after the conference.bjmdds wrote:I cannot believe you find Craig's absence at a major Eon event nothing that matters. Of course it was strange EA. Dench being there in his place for show was strange. The Eon team also looked quite uncomfortable at the press conference. They never reveal much when questioned, so why even bother to have one. The rest of the cast is small potatoes, a who's who of unknowns. Craig as Bond should have been there, not just giving quick answers to behind the scenes interviewers. He does not seem to think he has any worry about competing against Harry Potter as well. Wait and see Daniel-san.....wait and see.Arthur Brain wrote:Just a gut feeling really BJ!!bjmdds wrote:What about the plot synopsis leads you to conclude this EA?
Yes........i too thought it was strange that DC was not at the press conference.
The only person who really gave us any sort of info on the film was MGW!!

Why would he care which film tops the other? He doesn't sound like the sort. Besides, Potter will make more money anyway, that's common sense. Not even Brosnan could come close against Potter.bjmdds wrote:He does not seem to think he has any worry about competing against Harry Potter as well. Wait and see Daniel-san.....wait and see.

To those here who find this current Bond 'incarnation' the greatest thing Eon could ever have done I have a question: Do you want the 'traditional' Bond elements, such as Q, Moneypenny, gadgets, OTT villains, escapism storylines, a Bond who looks like Bond, etc., ever placed back, OR would this current 'incarnation' go on indefinitely and have you content?
