This is an interesting article on the rival McClory/Bond planned in the 1990's.

Those included for the role of Bond were Sean and Jason Connery (!), Tim Dalton, and Lian Neeson.

I know that McClory died over the winter, but does anyone know if he has any relatives who might be thinking about making the film.

I know that Sony would try to stop it from being made, but McClory was sure that he could still remake the film once again just before he died. There were even rumors of Pierce Brosnan being in it if it were to be made.

I would think that if McClory has a relative, like maybe a son, that he could possibly be able to make the film?

On a side note...I see that it is official that Pierce Brosnan will be making the Thomas Crown Affair 2, The Topkapi Affair. And the rumor is that Angelina Jolie will be the female lead in the film.

I know that a lot of people would have loved for Jolie to have played Vesper in CR.

Interesting that they spend the money, and that they get the major star in Jolie for Thomas Crown Affair 2, but EON goes with the largely unknown Eva Green who is basically a soft-core-porn actress for the lead in CR.

I'm always ready for a rival Bond.

I think the Brosnan/Jolie Thomas Crown 2 should be great fun.

NSNA.................was a reasonable attempt as a rival Bond film............unfortunately
it was ruined by possibly one of the worst music scores in film history.

A big black mark to Michel Legrand

Its a shame that they couldnt get James Horner of Aliens fame
to of done the score, as this was who the producers really wanted.

Never Say Never Again

Post by Evelyn_Tremble »

Some people may have classified Never Say Never Again as worse. But what few know is that the book should Thunderball two co-authors (Kevin McClory and Jack Whittingham). Because the two were initially hampered by Ian Fleming (creator of the spy), and later, the producers Albert R. Broccoli and Harry Saltzman, the justice authorized the co-authors to refilmarem Thunderball, but without the elements of production exclusive official (the opening, the soundtrack, the phrase "My Name is Bond, James Bond!", And so on. This movie was produced by Warner Bros. and Orion Pictures, upon the success of productions officers. Thunderball was the first of two books by Ian Fleming with co-authors, the other was The Man With the Golden Gun, finalized by Kingsley Amis (with the pseudonymous Robert Markham), see these articles:

I read that they really wanted John Barry, but he said "no" out of loyalty to EON. Shame the loyalty was only one-way and they kicked him off Goldeneye for asking for a pay rise.

EON (at least under Barbara and Michael) proved that they don't have any loyalty by firing Brosnan, the man that saved their franchise, and butts.

I disagree, it was time for him to leave after his contract was done. He had four Bond films under his belt, who else can say that besides two of his predecessors?

Besides, any one could have stepped into the role in 1995 and the results would be more or less the same. Afterall, isn't it the Bond name that sells and not the actor?
