Craig's new movie opens at number 1 and is considered a huge disappointment.
Once again Kidman + Craig stink at the box office.

I'm not going to say it was Craigs fault, cause from what I've heard he isn't in the moive from more than a few minutes.
They used the hell out of his image to promote the film and that's not going to change the fact it a bad movie. And a stupid time of year to release a movie like that one.

As much as The Golden Compass stunk up the US box office, it pulled in quite a bit of money internationally ($233 million, to be precise), which brings it's total up to $300 million worldwide. It's not going to recoup it's costs (it would need more than $360 million to do that), but it certainly picked up the slack from the US.
If anything, it shows that the fantasy genre has performed much better overseas that it has domestically over the past few years or so. Even the blockbuster LOTR pictures did substantially better overseas.
