And when was the last time a Bond film didn't get nominated for People Choice?
This does look like this years, not last years, when CR was released.
Bj, I'm suprised you are bringing up award nominations for CR, when you know there are quite a few out there already.

Take a look below. I got bored searching after a few minutes, as there were too many...

You would think with all those nominations by anything other than people's choice, Craig would have made an impact in other films? That never occurred, with all those nominations. Just curious, how many did CR win?

According to IMDb: CR won a BAFTA Film Award. Another 15 wins & 22 nominations.

Also curious, how many other recent Bond films have even been nominated for awards - forget actually winning anything....?

It is CR itself that has been the main reason for the nominations, not Craig's acting (although he too has been nominated).

One more question. Do you think any other actor out there right now would have made a bigger imapct in the below par films that Craig has starred in this year, or do you think it is down to the films themselves being poor, and not Craig?

The Golden Compass probably would have done better with a Jackman, or Owen, in the role, for they are far more of a non-Bond draw. The Invasion and Infamous are two films that MIGHT have done somewhat better with a 'big' name draw. The thing is, either Craig is a complete moron when it comes to career choices OR he really believes these artistic films he praises are the gems he believes them to be in his mind. Of his next 3 films outside of Bond, none look like good choices either, and he had to 'think about' accepting the Bond role? Without it,at 39,he would be a character actor headed to oblivion. My MAIN point is Craig will NEVER carry a film as a leading man outside of Bond, and before you get all in a tizzy, I know the prior 5 did not overwhelm either outside of Bond;HOWEVER, they were never praised for their acting skills as Craig is, not by you Sweeney, but the spin doctors at Eon, his co-stars in Hollywood, his directors, etc.

Saw it last night. Absolute classic!! There were many other funny cameos too - George Michael, Gordon Ramsey, etc.

Shame it is the last one.

http://www.aceshowbiz.com/news/view/00012362.html Finally! How many here are anticipating the release of The Topkapi Affair over that of Craig's The Bourne Mimicry, in 2008?

The Bounre Mimicry? What are you talking about? There's nothing on Craig's resume under the title "The Bourne Mimicry". :?

I would have thought probably quite a few on here.

Still won't do anywhere near the BO takings of Bond 22 though...

Not me, I can't stand Paul Verhoeven. He has made a couple of good films, but I always got the impression that they were good in spite of their director, not because of him.

I loved the bit where Barry and Dean Gaffney are working in the Carphone Warehouse. That was a nice joke.

I wonder if they'll be cheeky enough to make it more like a James Bond film than the first one.

I believe this is Brosnan's last chance to prove to Eon that he still can do Bond-like work in film. I think he will go all out to prove this in TTA.

What do you expect? EON to dump Craig and suddenly go "Oh Brosnan, what were we thinking? Let's bring you back!"?

Why does he have to prove this to EON now? What would he gain by it? Besides, I thought he had moved on now from Bond, choosing more varied roles...

To all the regulars here as well as the viewers, I wish you all a happy, safe, and healthy new year 2008! It will be an interesting and defining one for the Bond franchise. Maybe, if they get aound to it, Eon will finally release the title of Bond 22, be it my favorite ,"The Bourne Mimicry",or as was rumoured "007", etc.

No, but human nature dictates he wants a bit of solace in knowing he could have done more Bond type films, and successfully.

He would gain satisfaction in being successful in a non-Bond film that shows he could still handle the role.
