A bit pretentious, but I'd rather have critical reviews like this one than another foul-mouthed rant from a pimply-faced virgin like Zolly Becker (remember him?).

A couple of interesting Timothy Dalton articles on there too. I wonder who is behind the site.

Interesting articles. What I find bizarre, is the author of the site is an avid Fleming fan, yet takes pot shots at 2 films which are arguably closer to Fleming than most of the other films - CR and LTK.

Why is the author not condemning Moonraker or DAD for being so far removed from the Fleming novels???

Because CR is being labeled as a true-to-Fleming film when it is really not, and Moonraker and DAD is not given the same "This a Fleming material" hype the way CR was given and therefore it was alright if these films were a little bit off Flemingesque literature. When I went to CR even I have already a doubt about Craig I was expecting it to be Flemingesque because that what was everybody's raving about, and the next is history.
BOND sells, NOT CRAIG
The reboot is a risky area, did Eon need to do it? NO. Did this confuse alot of people? YES.
The Bond character will always be anchored in the values of the 60s

You're wrong Jedi. MR promoted itself as "Ian Fleming's Moonraker" in the title credits. It was truly not the case. :?

Matter of opinion, I guess.

I personally thought the latter half of CR was as close to Fleming as FRWL and OHMSS was.

What a terribly written and pretentious read. It sounds like a botched senior in high school's paper. It might be worth examining point by point if it had more merit and wasn't so excessively long.

It's amazing that this "Fleming fan" would give a pass to the many crappy and non-fleming like Bond movies that have been released, but then (attempt to) pick at CR with a fine toothed comb. Of course Casino Royale isn't exactly like the book. Of course the screenwriters won't get it perfect scene by scene. What they did amazingly well though is fuse Fleming's ambiance into a big budget (big return) movie.

In light of how unfaithful so many of the movies were I find the premise of the article absurd.

Interesting articles. What I find bizarre, is the author of the site is an avid Fleming fan, yet takes pot shots at 2 films which are arguably closer to Fleming than most of the other films - CR and LTK
.

Arguably is the correct word here. There are lots of informed James Bond fans who feel that the Bond portrayed in the movie was far removed from the Ian Fleming creation. Of course, the movie may have been closer in spirit to the books. But I feel Daniel Craig's James Bond who is ( by his own admission) a working class everyman type, looks unlike any of the movie Bonds or Fleming's Bond, has the fashion sense and tastes of a bum out of a Jack Kerouac novel, apparently became the Bond we know at aged 50, and seems to be a spendid new creation drawing from the popular Bourne and 24 and aiming to appeal to a 21st century global audience rather than a post war English audience.

This may appeal to those bored with the usual fare offered up. It is after all a slightly new interpretation. But I cannot see how it is Fleming's Bond.

I don't see how double-taking pigeons and invisible cars is Fleming's Bond either, which is a far more gross misinterpretation of the Fleming novels.

"But my favorite childhood hero Roger Moore is Bond in that film so the film is forgiven automatically."

This review has produced a rather intolerant repsonse on the MI6 fansite forum.

The Sweeney seems to be imploring people to send the author hate mail.

Actually I emailed the guy, and he replied with a fairly friendly response.

There was no hard feelings at all, and he was quite glad of the attention he has been getting.

Nice try, Cap'n....
