Eek. I saw a write up on that movie..no offense FBF but they hated it.

Went to the comic book store in the mall and they have a TON of Bond Funkos(this is a well stocked, larger store) including M. I almost bought a Le Chiffre. Because Mads Mikkelsen

Tom Hiddleston? He's been on Broadway(and on stage in the UK as well) recently hasn't he and also is "classically trained" from what I know of him.

In a shocking appearance from Hollywood after years in hibernation, look at what has become of actress Bridgette Fonda :!: :hair:  Image

It was only an "appearance in Hollywood" in the sense that that's where she lives. The photo was taken outside her home by some paparazzo skulking around her bins. If she'd gone to the Oscars looking like that, it might be newsworthy, but the story here is basically "middle-aged woman comes back from the grocery store."

I vaguely remember there was a movie like that. Forgot about it completely

Sheena was here in NY 4 months ago at an upstate fair performing. What do you think? Should Broccoli let her sing the next Bond theme song? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sSlNqvw6yYI

Ben Whishaw has admitted he thinks “some things were not great about” the decision to acknowledge Q’s sexuality in No Time to Die. In the Bond film, which was released in 2021, a scene sees Bond (Daniel Craig) and Eve Moneypenny (Naomie Harris) asking for Q’s help – but a flustered Q is unhappy as he’s preparing for a date, telling them: “He’ll be here in 20 minutes.” When the subject of the scene was raised in a new interview, Whishaw told The Guardian that, beyond a positive text from TV writer Russell T Davies, he was yet to receive “any feedback". He admitted to having concerns about the scene during a chat with producer Barbara Broccoli, stating: “I think I remember feeling something like what you’ve just described. I think I thought, ‘Are we doing this, and then doing nothing with it?’ “I remember, perhaps, feeling that was unsatisfying.”.............too d**n bad Benjamin. These actors just don't get the fact that Bond films are NOT meant to socially influence people by the 'wokesters' need to push their agendas and that people want to be ENTERTAINED, not preached too :!:

This is a strange take. Bond films have always sought to reflect the times, and the franchise deserves credit for continuing to prioritize representation considering it’s massive, global appeal, including in many countries that are behind the times in terms of societal evolution. Q being gay, M being a woman, or any other bit of inclusive story decision making has no bearing on entertainment value.

What Whishaw is getting at, I believe, is that the film could have done more with Q’s character “reveal” so that his coming out, so to speak, could make gay Bond fans feel seen and represented in a real way. More so than a throwaway line anyway. It’s not a responsibility of the franchise to do so, but these movies have real power, and I can only imagine what even that one line must have meant to closeted or openly-gay Bond fans. I think straight, white dudes have felt plenty seen over the course of 25 of these films. They’re far from the only people that care about these films.

I’m glad we got the line that we got, but I do think they could have done more with it. I didn’t even catch the line in my first viewing.

I will say I agree with Ben insofar as it was a cheap easily deleted virtue signal popped in to attempt a round of applause from those who clamor for such things, but not bold enough to be part of the plot, so as to make it easy for the people who matter to EON (foreign markets) to remove it. Funnily enough it seems nobody noticed!

It may be motivated by cowardice/fear of the Chinese censor.but personally, I think they made the right call. There's enough soap opera in the Craig Bond series without adding subplots about the personal lives of supporting characters. A single line is all that was needed.

Ben's story is all over internet now............in other news: Another tease for Double Or Nothing reads: “James Bond is missing, presumed captured or even killed. All of Bond’s contemporaries are gone and a new generation of Double O agents has been recruited to replace them and battle a global threat. At the same time, M and Moneypenny are searching for a mole in MI6. Will the truth be uncovered in time – or is this the end of the Double O section?” Author Kim Sherwood tweeted today: “For your eyes only… I’m so thrilled to announce the title of my first #DoubleO novel, and to share a little about the story with you all: DOUBLE OR NOTHING will be released Sep 1.” Like the Bond movies, Double Or Nothing is set in the present day and will kick off a Double O series. It’s worth noting these books are not set in the same world as the Daniel Craig movies and so are not a sequel to No Time To Die. Nonetheless, it sounds unmissable for 007 fans. According to the synopsis: “James Bond is missing… 007 has been captured, perhaps even killed, by a sinister private military company. His whereabouts are unknown. Meet the new generation of spies… Johanna Harwood, 003. Joseph Dryden, 004. Sid Bashir, 009. Together, they represent the very best and brightest of MI6. Skilled, determined and with a licence to kill, they will do anything to protect their country. The fate of the world rests in their hands… Tech billionaire Sir Bertram Paradise claims he can reverse the climate crisis and save the planet. But can he really? The new spies must uncover the truth, because the future of humanity hangs in the balance. Time is running out.”

Johanna Harwood? Presumably she's the one who writes up the accounts of the mission.

What Ben Whishaw admit in his statement is my reaction and I make similar comment in NTTD thread. It is big flaw they did not show the guy that will visit Q in his apartment. I have seen article on Yahoo news and he said, 'Are we doing this, and then doing nothing with it?' I remember, perhaps, feeling that was unsatisfying," he told the newspaper. I think that way also, like they did not do enough. I know my gay coworkers did not like the scene and they feel disapoint with the movie.

Excellent point from avl_bmb: these movies have real power, and I can only imagine what even that one line must have meant to closeted or openly-gay Bond fans.

My gay friends that become Bond fans feel proud. But they feel more proud from Skyfall when Bond admit he experience gay relationship. I have also help counsel others that are closeted and I know Skyfall has helped them cope.

And other point: I’m glad we got the line that we got, but I do think they could have done more with it.

I feel same way. Better than nothing, at least Eon try to put equity in the movie. But they did not go far enough.

Me feels no need for such stuff in a spy film. Me wants to enjoy 100% action and NO politics in a spy film, like they do in Mission Imposssssssssible film. Lady Broccoli not know what she do.

The Q “controversy”, remind me of the virtue signaling of Star Trek into darkness with sulu, the cast and director so proud, George Takei pissed off and the audience not noticing

I was referring to the fact that she is named after the co-writer of the first two Bond films. Presumably an Easter egg for fans.

You will find a range of views on this forum. The only thing that unites us is our dislike of Craig as Bond, and with you here, not even that.
