The British Jamaican actor plays Nomi, a new agent who enters the service shortly after Bond retires, and inherits his legendary code number. "Nomi is a fine example of your modern-day woman who doesn't take anything lying down and who gives everyone and anyone a run for their money," Lynch said by phone from London. "Mentally, physically, energetically and spiritually, she has everything covered so that whatever questions you had about women and this franchise are shot down completely." Lynch's casting announcement was met with outrage from misogynistic and racist trolls who, even in 2021, can't imagine the mantle of 007 being held by anyone but a white man. "I don't have anything to say to the trolls apart from it's none of my business what you think, you have the freedom to live in your truth just like I have the freedom to live in mine," she said. As for the young Black women who will get to see themselves represented for perhaps the first time, Lynch empathizes. "We [Black women] know how it feels to be mis- and under-represented and we know how it feels to yearn for someone, anyone in the world to speak our truth for us when we feel like we don't have a voice. And I'm hoping that my career and my choice in roles and me just being me, authentically, is shining a light on our power."-----another blithering idiot that thinks Bond purists give a darn about race or gender wokeness in a Bond film. Lynch is a nobody and has a part in a Bond film. Her acting was nothing great in Captain Marvel either. Yet, she actually believes that social matters of inclusion are important in enjoying a spy adventure of Bond.

Gonna have to go against the grain on this one, I'm afraid. Whilst I have expressed my view that casting a black actor as Bond himself would be a change to the character (albeit an extension of the change that was already made in Casino Royale, where Bond was given a lower-middle-class background that meant he struggled to fit in at Eton and Cambridge), the mere presence of a black woman in a Bond film doesn't freak me out. As a white man, I will never know what it is like to be under-represented in films and TV programmes, but I can at least imagine how a young black woman in the audience might be excited by the prospect of seeing a 00 agent who looked like her.

I agree Kris and have stated both sides of this "discussion" are far off the deep end, however this dispute is far more convoluted than simply "black girl in Bond film."Kristatos wrote: Fri Aug 27, 2021 2:38 pm Gonna have to go against the grain on this one, I'm afraid. As Newsweek reported, "Gutfeld! "scored a larger audience than Jimmy Fallon on NBC, Jimmy Kimmel on ABC and Stephen Colbert on CBS" for the first time during an entire week from August 16-22.
"For the week, Gutfeld's show scored 2 million viewers nightly and 405,000 in the key demographic for advertisers, which is adults 25-54, while Colbert was next best at 1.89 million with 395,000 in the key demo. Fallon was third and Kimmel was fourth," Newsweek wrote.

BJ, I edited your Bob Ross clip to show the video? Can you not post Youtube videos yet? Maybe it is because you are using a phone or a certain computer operating system?

I agree with the author's concept, however he had to go on about Tom Hardy and blah, blah, blah Craig was good, in order to nail all the "universal truths" EON's lackeys demand. One thing this essay does do is expose just how out of touch EON were even 10 years ago, while Marvel, et.al. were resurrecting the traditional Bondian tone, Babz and Co. were still licking Jason Bourn's boots!Kristatos wrote: Mon Aug 30, 2021 4:16 am Bond needs to be fun again when Daniel Craig leaves (Screenrant): https://screenrant.com/bond-26-james-bo ... explained/

To be honest, that stuff doesn't even annoy me any more. It's just background noise at this point.dirtybenny wrote: I agree with the author's concept, however he had to go on about Tom Hardy and blah, blah, blah Craig was good, in order to nail all the "universal truths" EON's lackeys demand.
