Well bond is now Amazon property.
$8.45 billion
Amazon will own half of danjaq and all of CR and TB, giving Bezos more bond rights than Broccoli.
He’s not going to allow her ever half a decade production plan. I wouldn’t be surprised if he isnt interested in buying her out.

The interesting fight will be supposedly cubby had final rights to decide actor in his contract after saltzman sold out. But funding and other decisions involve the studio studio/partners

The whole reason we got stuck with Craig is MGM wanted Matthew Vaughn and Babs fell in lust with Craig.

Thank you kris one of my favorite Bond girls filled the Tapatalk app instead of Babs cgi porn Craig

Craig has always looked funny at certain angles, there were reports before skyfall of studio officials shocked at how bad Craig looks in person wanted him to get plastic Surgery which Craig was resisting at the time. But his faces look funnier after plastic surgery and aging took it’s toll.

I swear every shot of him in the Bezos presents NTTD trailers look like they put a cgi face filter on him.

Wish they had gone with Vaughn. We'd still have got Craig, probably, since it was Vaughn who suggested him for the role. But at least he wouldn't have sucked all the joy out of the Bond franchise, if the Kingsman films are any indication. We seem to have got the worst of both worlds instead.

On his own vaughn made more bond movies. Well almost. Fist class and two kingsman, well three when it finally drops. Nttd will give Babs 5 since 2006. First class dropped in 2011, kingsman 2014 so he has a slightly faster production rate.

I'm sure Bezos would like to buy out Broccoli, after all the conventional wisdom for the past few decades was that Bond was the only money maker at the studio, however I'm sure that has changed over the years. One thing's sure, if she goes it will be because she's forced out, I don't see any scenario in which she goes gently into that good night. As The Rhythm Section proved with it's record setting belly flop, Babz has no life in Hollywood without Bond. You would think an espionage based action film produced by the "producers of Bond" as the promotions promised would garner more than the paltry sum it received. That is Barbara's drawing power.

MGM has actively been exploring a sale since December, looking to cash in on streaming-video services seeking content. The Wall Street Journal reported in December that MGM had a market value of roughly $5.5 billion, significantly less than the price tag Amazon agreed to :!: Bezos had this reaction to Broccoli remaining the head cheese on decisions with his now Bond franchise: Image ......and Broccoli's reaction to Bezos becoming her boss: Image Image

I'm not a lawyer, but surely Bezos buying MGM just means that he's bought MGM. It shouldn't affect the terms of their contract with EON.

Edit: this Variety report appears to confirm that.

Well he owns more than half of bond, and controls the finances. Far as Babs deal it’s the same, except mgm and Sony let Babs do whatever she wanted. Maybe nothing will change

Edit read the story I think everyone forget eon is only a hired production company and danjaq has the rights.

I don’t see eon losing the production gig. However it’s a different world with a partner who has the money to wait the Broccoli’s out, mgm and Sony were desperate to get revenue in, Amazon has enough assists to wait until Babs EoN is broke.

The more I think about this the more I see the possibility for some change (not that it will necessarily be for the better), not with the films mind you as we discussed Babz has majority control over those, but with Amazon in control I see them demanding some streaming content to compete with Disney and their Star Wars expanded universe. Since Babz can't be arsed to put out a film quicker than a half decade they'll need to bring in fresh blood to oversee any new properties to come out of this deal and there we may get something a bit different.

MGM didn't just let Babbzy do what she wanted because they liked her smile, they did it because her dad had negotiated a great contract with them. Unless that contract can be renegotiated, Amazon are stuck with it.

Plot twist. The US government gave Bezos a $10 billion bailout the day before he bought MGM for $9 billion. Your tax dollars at work:

Babs has the same contract, which has the final word on casting bond. Amazon has MGMs ability to cast other actors, decide script, locations, directors, music talent, correct placement and so on. Possibly distribution too.

What is different is a partner not on the brink of bankruptcy.
UA and MGM were hanging on by a thread most of the years of collaboration. Mgm was arguably hurt by Babs hitting the brakes on production in critical years because she didn’t feel like making movies.
Cubby had fights with the people funding the movies, and studio partners. Not forgetting legal challenges which combined to stop production for years.

I don’t expect Amazon to be on the phone with Babs telling here the new red carpet is IMDB streaming event for Amazon prime members only
What could happen is if Babs is slow to make a 60th movie, Amazon can remake CR and TB using their sole rights to those movies and buy the rights to the none Fleming bond book to make a mini series, and spin offs separate from the eon bond line. They might get away with more if they also use half the rights to danjaq as well.

Eon only produces, they may have a generous contract, I don’t know if it can’t be renegotiate or another production company can’t be hired to make the movies.

Eon is a scam shell company where The broccoli‘s used their leverage as rights owners with danjaq to hire themselves under the guise of EON productions, essentially paying themselves off the top make the movies then collecting half the profits as rights holders with Danjaq.

It also protects their assets in danjaq from any loses Eon might take on.

I vaguely remember Sony hired Eon to make I think it was two films for them during Sony’s time as partner, which never happened. Then eon only none bond espionage thriller crashed and burned right before Covid.

there is a lot I don’t know about the partnership in saltzman half of danjaq that Amazon just bought, like is eon productions part of it? I assume not because it’s always seemed like cubby’s show alone.
Or if the contract specifies eon production has to make movies.

With a partner for the first time in years wealthy enough to out muscle broccoli family there could be changes. Still I think nothing will change and Babs will do what she wants because for the studio as it will be with Amazon it’s easier to go along with her to get the finished product.

Only thing that might change this is if she steps down or MGWs kids who were groomed to take over suddenly step up more to oversee something like spin-off series or to make a bond version of marvel tv.

WTF?
Clear cronyism from the Biden admin and senators bought off by Bezos.

Excuse of redundancy is complete BS.

Funny how the senate couldn’t find the time to pass a clean bill funding only the stimulus for the American people but have time to do this.

Yes, absolutely disgusting! Of all the companies to bail out, the one to massively increase profits during the pandemic?! Shows you how the political shell game works, vilify the "1%" in public to gin up your neo-marxist supporters, then hand billions of dollars in public funds to those same filthy rich elites!

Bet it won't stop Bezos's bootlickers claiming he got where he is now by hard work and ingenuity.

Hey Kris, it takes a lot of ingenuity and hard work to attend the right champagne socials, cozy up to politicos, stroke their egos and convince them to stuff fat cash in your pocket in exchange for allowing them to trash you in public!
