Craig's second Bond film, Bale's second Batman film, The Hulk's second action film, Ford's fourth Indy film, Harry Potter's 6th film, and the first Iron Man film, all being released in the same year,2008! It will be very interesting to see which film comes out at the top and bottom of the box office worldwide revenue.

It certainly looks like a year to look forward to, 2007 was such a huge disappointment for me. Besides a handful of great flicks like Rescue Dawn and American Gangster, there really hasn't been any strong movies that were that good. And a lot of third films in their franchises (Spider-Man, Pirates, Shrek) turned out to be pretty bad. All hype no quality.

Meanwhile, 2008 just keeps looking better and better.

And BJ, if you noticed, this is the first time since 1989 that Bond, Indy, Batman and Star Trek came out at the same year. But of course Bond and Trek have been taking Nov/Dec release dates ever since they both did bad at the summer box office in 89.

I thought it would be for this year, what with Pirates, Spidy and Shrek making crap loads of money. But they were only financially successful, I can't see them being better than Batman, Last Crusade, Licence to Kill or whatever else. But 2008 does look like it will give us better movies than 1989.

Oh, and of course the writers strike is happening again. Revisited? That could be an understatement.

Interesting point there, bj. And yes, there are quite a few parallels with 1989 - the main ones being another Indy film released, Batman film, and a more realistic Bond film with a thespian type actor playing the role for the 2nd time.

Oh yes, and Bond 22 will be released one year after the latest Die Hard movie (the original was in 1988), and a Rambo film was also out in 1988, and now we have another one due next year. And another Rocky being released too last year.

DeJa Vue or what.....

(well, there was one big difference back in 1989. England qualified for a major football tournament.... )

2008 will be a good year for our favourite films...............i mean it will be interesting to see the new Indy film with a very old Harrison Ford............
but i'am sure Bond 22 is going to be a huge successs..................probably not in the States, but defintitely elsewhere.

As regards Football..............I cant believe that a country that gave us the sport, and has the biggest league system in the world............can only produce a bunch of pansies for its International side.

I agree that 2008 will be a great year for movie releases. Looking forward to Bond 22 even though Craig is still in the role.

As for football, it is a subject that deserves it's own thread.
“I'd like to thank the Royal Marines for bringing me in like that and scaring the s--- out of me,” Bond Hardman Daniel Craig.

Sweeney:Deja vu? Pretty weird the way things are aligning in the universe. The more things change, the more they stay the same. Problem for you is, in 1989, all of the other 'aligned' films were a success, EXCEPT for one, at the box office:LTK, the Bond film. If history is to repeat itself, 19 years later, throwing in 5 leap years to boot, Bond 22(aka TBM) may be jinxed?

Bond 22 (AKA Bond 22) is in a different position than LTK was. CR was a bigger hit than TLD, they won't make the same mistake on the promotional department and it's being released on Fall again as usual since 1995.

It should be noted though, Moore, Dalton and Brosnan had their second films making relatively less than their initial films. The biggest drop for a second film was Moore's TMWTGG.

Connery was the only Bond who had his films climbing all the way to the top by four films.

It will be hard for TBM to top CR worldwide, even with a 5% increase in ticket prices. Topping $600 million would be quite an accomplishment for team Eon/Haggis/Forster.

Of course. Only a quarter of the Bond films have gone as high as CR afterall so who knows. Even if Bond 22 doesn't make as much as CR but made it on par with Brosnan's average it wouldn't be unsuccessful.

As with any other Bond story of this stripe, I'll believe it when I hear an official announcement from EON or Sony.

I think HIM should do the theme tune to fit on with Craig's new Bond character. Craig should shave his head, grow a goateee beard and have a few tatoos done.

Meanwhile, I'll go and watch Goldfinger, OHMSS and The Spy Who Loved Me.

Or Carl, you could go and watch DAD instead, and remind yourself why the producers took such a drastic transformation with CR....

Thats right lol Pierce in a polo neck. Saw Craig on j ross this week he always come across as dull and a bit arrogant.

Do you think being Bond has gone to his head? :)

Saw The invasion the other day pretty bad film and Craig has his usual dull non presence in a nothing role. :)

I think he is just shy and reserved for interviews. Dull maybe, but not arrogant at all.

Your last comment sounds like you have a personal vendetta, an agenda against Craig, regardless of what film he is playing in, which doesn't do your comments any favours.

Not at all Sweeney, i just dont see what makes him a good actor and i have tried to view a body of work that he has been in and i cant see the merit of him, i guess hes not my cup of tea and i did really want to embrace him as Bond but could not due to thsoe reasons :D

Sweeney, a lot of us do not have this 'awe' of Craig's acting skills. I also find him a bore in most of his roles, and consider him a minor character actor at best. Let's see how he fits in next weekend in a non-Bond supposed blockbuster with a storyline written by an atheist and Craig sounding confident in the film.
