Box office thread
Which one? trying stop joker or playing pranks? I’m pretty sure the prank were talked about by the cast.
Now I don’t think WB or Leto confine any of the tried to stop rival joker story. I thought the story was from a good source I don’t remember where now. These days it’s about clicks not actual reporting so it may be one of those stories, but it has fit in with other stories before this one going years back

That is bad. Not surprised because they have tried to push IMDb over bo mojo before. Once they shut it down completely and redirected to IMDb ,

Terminator took number 1 in a pathetic opening, joker is still doing well.
The new bo mojo is a pain so I’ll skip it for now

Another box office site, The Numbers, has a message on their front page welcoming all the new visitors they've received recently. Gee, I wonder why.Omega wrote:Terminator took number 1 in a pathetic opening, joker is still doing well.

Re: Box office thread
I can believe other movie stats places have seen a big uptake in visitors, imdb / amazon has wanted to do away with bo mojo as it existed for 20 years, first attempt years ago was just to redirect to IMDb, this time they made the bo mojo so user unfriendly it’s driving people away.
In the back of my mind I suspect Hollywood in general does not like sites like bo mojo because they allow average people access to the data they’d rather wasn’t easily accessible.
Maybe that’s reading too much into it, because the genie is out of the bottle and people expect access to this kind of data and other places do more sensitive data involving real costs and profit which nobody knew about decades ago.
Hollywood does like to blame rotten tomatoes for every flop, ignoring most movie goers actually have a idea which movies are good or bad from the trailers and word-of-mouth. That and Hollywood is still unsure how to gauge people not going to a crappy movie with a big character or franchise as the main draw when they might have done well with a awful Superman or Batman movie for example still drawing in the dc fans despite the poor quality movie.
IMHO DVRs, and streaming content make people less likely to be inclined to spend $50 dollars or more to pay to sit through 2-3 hours of a half baked story on the big screen.
There’s so much content available imo people are more discerning about how they spend their leisure time.

Re: Box office thread
They are saying terminator dark fate need $480 million to break even.
But it also being trashed by fans. In response the studio is trying to blame “toxic masculinity”
Like I was just talking about it’s Hollywood not realizing the quality of their work matters to the box office. When they fail first reaction is to blame some any outside source they can, RT, critics, Social media, un PC thought, bootleg copies, spoilers , and so on
I bet if bond 25 flops they blame toxic masculinity as well for eon and Craig putting together a poor product, Also stalling the franchise out, Craig was talking about missing the people involved he only saw them every 4-5 years. Divorced couples have more contact than this. You can’t keep a franchise going on fumes, dropping a half assed project every few half decade is almost a recipe for failure

Re: Box office thread
I've just been poking around the-numbers.com. Danny-boy is currently at #254 in their chart of worldwide box-office stars, sandwiched in between Chris 'Ludacris' Bridges and Jackie Chan. Hilariously, Katie Leung, who played Cho Chang in the Harry Potter films, is two places above him, despite her only other work that I'm aware of being a guest role in an episode of Father Brown a few years back.

I think they use all the films the actor is in even if it’s not a staring role. Pierce is ranked 354
I had liked numbers years ago but they had a spell of slow data or inaccurate

Re: Box office thread
Weekend actuals confirm the $29 million figure for Terminator. Studio projections were $44 million. Ouch.
Meanwhile, Joker is just shy of $300 million domestically, and has easily passed the $900 million mark worldwide that means it is now more profitable than Avengers: Infinity War.

I've seen advertising for Le Mans '66, formerly Ford V Ferrari, which I think (I could be wrong about this) was the last film greenlit at Fox before the Disney takeover.

I think the joker just saved Deadpool 3 and keeping it R rated. Disney will not leave those profit margins on the table unless they have to
